“Madam, you have no idea,” Qingye reported excitedly, “those two went completely wild that night—played around the entire evening. They nearly broke Lu Yu.”
Qu Wanwan spat out a mouthful of milk. Fu Ciyu quickly leaned over to wipe it from her lips.
Her eyes lit up. “They went that far?”
“Shen Man thought he wasn’t enough, so the next day, she even got the hotel’s attendant to—”
“Damn!” Qu Wanwan looked thrilled.
“No swearing,” Fu Ciyu said in a low voice.
Qu Wanwan pouted. “I was just excited—”
Fu Ciyu massaged his throbbing temples and asked in a deep tone, “What’s on the agenda at the company today?”
Qingye thought for a moment and replied, “You have a lunch appointment to discuss a potential collaboration with the He family, and in the afternoon, a meeting with the President.”
“Cancel it,” Fu Ciyu said flatly.
Qu Wanwan immediately interjected, “Don’t cancel! He Ye saved your wife’s life—have you no sense of gratitude?”
Hearing that, Fu Ciyu seemed to recall what she’d mentioned last night—how He Ye had taken the drink on her behalf.
His gaze darkened slightly. “Schedule the meeting in the company’s reception hall.”
“Yes, sir.”
Qu Wanwan gave him a bright smile. “I’m coming too.”
“Can you even walk?”
She blinked, then realized what he meant and gave the inside of his thigh a sharp pinch.
Fu Ciyu let out a low chuckle. “Eat first. You two wait outside.”
“Yes, sir.”
When He Ye heard from his assistant that Fu Ciyu had agreed to meet with the He family, only then did he finally feel at ease.
Not just anyone could earn the privilege of collaborating with the Fu Corporation.
Suddenly, a thought struck He Ye, and his expression changed. “Don’t tell me… it’s because of that woman, Qu Wanwan?”
That night after returning home, he had immediately called for a family physician. Once he’d recovered a bit, Qingye, Fu Ciyu’s special assistant, had personally come to see him.
Qingye had said that, in gratitude for saving Qu Wanwan, Fu Ciyu had specially arranged for a potential partnership with the He Corporation.
He Ye had shot up from the sofa in shock. “Saved Qu Wanwan?”
“Yes.”
After thinking it over, He Ye realized the truth—Qu Wanwan, that damn woman, had known the wine was spiked and still let him drink it.
By noon, Fu Ciyu had changed the meeting location to Lanting.
When they arrived, He Ye and his father, He Lincheng, were already seated in the private room.
As soon as Fu Ciyu walked in, both men stood to greet him. “Master Fu.”
But the moment He Ye spotted the figure behind Fu Ciyu, his gaze shifted—Qu Wanwan?
Fu Ciyu gave a slight nod in response, then gently took Qu Wanwan’s hand and introduced her. “President He, this is my wife, Qu Wanwan. I believe you’re already acquainted.”
He Lincheng froze for a moment. “Wife? You two… got married?”
“Yes,” Fu Ciyu said calmly. “To be honest, we registered yesterday.”
“Haha! Congratulations, Master Fu—what a beauty you’ve won over.” He Lincheng laughed heartily.
He Ye was still in shock. Registered? Just like that, she had become Madam Fu?
“What? You have a problem with that?”
Qu Wanwan’s voice rang beside his ear.
He jerked his head up and glared at her. “You still have the nerve to speak? If it weren’t for you, would I have drunk that wine?”
“If it weren’t for me, would the He family even have the chance to climb up to my husband’s level?” Qu Wanwan shot back, glaring at him.
“Qu Wanwan, you really agreed to marry Master Fu?” He Ye looked incredulous. Just a while ago she was dead set against marrying anyone, and now she’d actually registered their marriage?
“My husband’s rich, powerful, and has a great body. Marrying him is hardly a loss.” Qu Wanwan raised an eyebrow and gave a smug smile.
“Unbelievable!” He Ye looked as if he’d seen a ghost.
“Wanwan, come here,” Fu Ciyu called out to her.
Qu Wanwan obediently walked over and sat beside him.
Fu Ciyu and He Lincheng officially began discussing the terms of their collaboration, while Qu Wanwan sat quietly to the side, listening attentively.
Toward the end, Fu Ciyu spoke coolly, “President He, a partnership with the Fu Group must be mutually beneficial.”
“I understand, Master Fu. Here’s to a successful partnership.” He Lincheng raised his wine glass with a smile.
Fu Ciyu didn’t decline. He also lifted his glass. “To a successful partnership.”
Once the details were finalized and lunch was finished, He Lincheng and He Ye took their leave.
As they departed, He Ye cast Qu Wanwan a long, meaningful glance.
Thinking about the portrait of Fu Ciyu that was still unfinished, Qu Wanwan asked him to drop her off at the gallery.
“Aren’t you tired?” Fu Ciyu frowned, hoping she would take the chance to rest.
Qu Wanwan’s cheeks flushed. “I’m fine. In a week, I’ll have a surprise for you at the gallery.”
“Are you sure it’s not going to be a scare?” He certainly hadn’t had a shortage of those from her.
“It’s a surprise,” Qu Wanwan pouted.
“Fine, I’ll drop you off.”
After taking Qu Wanwan to the gallery, Fu Ciyu instructed Qingye, “Prepare some gifts. We’re visiting the Qu Residence tonight.”
“Master Fu, are you meeting your father-in-law?” So things were finally smoothed over?
“You talk too much.”
The Fu Group’s headquarters was located in the heart of the city.
Once Fu Ciyu arrived, Qingye parked the car.
The lobby was unusually quiet. The moment Fu Ciyu appeared, the employees immediately stopped what they were doing and greeted him respectfully, “President Fu.”
Fu Ciyu nodded slightly in response and headed straight for the sixth-floor executive office.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, the buzz of conversation from the office area could be heard.
Everyone was busy—some were taking notes in front of their computers, others were on their phones, jotting things down as they hurried along.
“Hold on a moment.”
As soon as Fu Ciyu spoke, the entire office fell silent.
“President Fu—”
Fu Ciyu’s voice was low and steady. “Regarding the collaboration with the He Group, the Project Department needs to follow up. Li Donghui, you’ll handle the handover.”
The one called out—Li Hui—was the department manager and the lead on this project.
“Understood, President Fu.”
Once Fu Ciyu left, the office quickly erupted into hushed discussion.
“Did any of you notice something different about President Fu today?”
“You saw it too?”
“His face is glowing.”
“Yes! He looks so pleased with himself.”
“Could it be… good news on the relationship front?”
“Yes! Yes! He looks like a man in love.”
“Could it be that a wedding is near?”
“Sigh, that Miss Qu must really be blind, turning down such a handsome man.”
“Shhh, keep your voice down—”
Qu Wanwan had just arrived at the gallery when she saw Lu Yu standing in the corridor, staring at Fu Ciyu’s portrait, seemingly lost in thought.
“Who let him in?” Qu Wanwan asked coldly.
A staff member quickly stepped forward to explain, “Sorry, Wan-jie, we didn’t notice—he just came in on his own.”
Hearing the commotion, Lu Yu turned around abruptly, his face lighting up with surprise. “Wanwan, you’re here.”
“Who gave you permission to come in?” Qu Wanwan’s tone dropped a few degrees.
Lu Yu looked confused. “Didn’t I always come and go as I pleased before?”
“Things are different now. My husband might get the wrong idea.”
“My husband?” Lu Yu looked completely stunned.
“That’s right.”
“Fu Ciyu?”
Qu Wanwan sneered. “If not him, then who? You?”
“That’s not what I meant—”
“Throw him out. I don’t ever want to see him again.”
“Yes, Sister Wan.”
“Qu Wanwan! What’s that supposed to mean?!”
“Oh, nothing in particular. I just can’t stand the sight of you.” Wouldn’t mind seeing you dead either.
“You—!”
“Oh, I almost forgot to ask—how was Shen Man in bed?” Qu Wanwan suddenly dropped the question.
Sure enough, the moment those words left her mouth, Lu Yu’s face turned ashen.
“Was it you?” he demanded sharply.
“Nope. I don’t have that kind of spare time to deal with her.” And even if it were me, so what?
Qu Wanwan thought to herself: It was me—what can you do about it?
“I also heard that you were so weak that by the next morning, she had to go find the hotel service staff—” Qu Wanwan said slowly.
Lu Yu’s expression shifted drastically. “What did you say?!”
She was saying that after spending the night with him, Shen Man turned to a hotel employee?
“I think you heard me just fine.”
“Damn it!”
Lu Yu bolted out in a hurry.
Qu Wanwan sneered coldly. “You’re just reaping what you sow.”
