Chapter 30: The Impressive Master Fu
Qu Wanwan was momentarily stunned. “What’s going on?”
Mumu shook her head. “No idea. At first, it was just one woman who came to the gallery and liked one of Master Fu’s paintings. But half an hour later, all these people showed up—”
Qu Wanwan rubbed her forehead and shot a glare at Fu Ciyu. “Attracting bees and butterflies again, huh!”
Fu Ciyu smiled faintly. “Wife, I didn’t do anything.”
“Oh my god! He smiled at me!!!” one woman cried out in excitement.
“No, it was at me! Me!”
Qu Wanwan was speechless. “You’ve got two seconds. Go, now!”
“Got it, wife. I’ll eave Qingjiu here for you,” he said, planting a quick kiss on her forehead before hurrying off.
No sooner had Fu Ciyu left than someone stepped up and demanded, “What gives you the right to be kissed by Master Fu?”
“What do you think?” Qu Wanwan raised an eyebrow.
“Holy crap! It’s Qu Wanwan!”
Someone shouted, and Qu Wanwan instinctively turned toward the voice.
That one glance nearly made her choke—
Oh, great. Guess who she saw—
That crazy woman who used to chase after her brother—Mo Xiaobai!!
“Mo Xiaobai?!”
“Qu Wanwan, you damn woman! You opened an art gallery and didn’t tell me?!”
Mo Xiaobai forcibly shoved her way through the crowd and planted herself right in front of her.
Qu Wanwan rolled her eyes at her. “Mo Xiaobai, you damn mutt, what are you doing here?”
The two of them had been through thick and thin together.
It all started three years ago, when they met while chasing down a thief in Hecheng.
They hit it off, exchanged contacts, and whenever they were free, they’d get up to all sorts of mischief together.
Who would’ve thought this lunatic would end up having a crush on her brother?
“And you’re still talking! You opened a whole gallery and I didn’t even know! Are we even friends anymore?!” Mo Xiaobai glared at her fiercely.
Knowing she was in the wrong, Qu Wanwan leaned over and whispered in her ear, “Say no more—I’ll let you meet my brother.”
“Really?” Mo Xiaobai’s eyes lit up.
“Really, really.”
Qu Wanwan glanced again at the crowd in the hallway. “What’s going on here?”
Mo Xiaobai explained, “They said there was a handsome guy in the gallery, so I came—”
“Mo Xiaobai! You damn mutt! I thought you liked my brother?!”
“You damn woman, just looking doesn’t get me pregnant, okay? My heart only belongs to your brother, don’t worry.”
Qu Wanwan was speechless.
“Sorry, Master Fu’s paintings are not for sale!” Qu Wanwan shouted loudly.
“If they’re not for sale, then why hang them up?” one woman sneered.
Qu Wanwan shot her a cold glare. “Can’t you see the ‘Not for Sale’ sign beneath it? Or are you blind?”
“Qu Wanwan! If you don’t like Master Fu, then why are you clinging to him?”
“Oh? So you do know who I am.”
“Hmph, your reputation precedes you. There’s probably no one in all of the Imperial Capital who hasn’t heard of you. Don’t you know what kind of mess you’ve made?”
Qu Wanwan sneered. “What, you live by the ocean or something? Why are you sticking your nose in my business?”
“You—!”
Mo Xiaobai grinned and said, “Well, well, girl, it’s been a while, but your tongue’s gotten even sharper.”
“Didn’t I learn it from you—?”
“Then did you pay tuition for it?”
“My brother’s not good enough?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
Qu Wanwan chuckled, but when she looked up again, her gaze had turned cold.
“If any of you are interested in the other paintings, you’re welcome. But as for Master Fu’s works—they are not for sale.”
“If you’re not here to buy anything, please leave. Otherwise, I’ll have to call the police.”
“Qu Wanwan! Just because you opened some lousy gallery, you think you’re hot stuff now?” the woman snapped angrily.
Qu Wanwan gave a slight smile. “That’s right. Maybe I’m not all that, but at least I can afford to be. Can you?”
“You—!”
“Lele, let’s go—”
“Yeah, don’t cause trouble.”
Once they left, the gallery instantly quieted down.
“Honestly, this tiny little dump really doesn’t match Master Fu’s status.”
“Shut up already. Now tell me—when did you get to the Imperial Capital?”
“Yesterday!”
Qu Wanwan frowned. “You arrived yesterday and didn’t even tell me?”
“You’ve got the nerve to talk?” Mo Xiaobai smirked, pointing at her.
“What did I do? You didn’t call me either!” Qu Wanwan looked at her, puzzled.
“You stirred up such a huge commotion in the Imperial Capital, and I haven’t even called you out for it yet. What were you thinking?”
Only then did Qu Wanwan realize what she meant.
She frowned. “Must’ve been blind… couldn’t tell who was good and who wasn’t—”
Mo Xiaobai looked at her like she hated iron for not becoming steel. “So you admit you were blind! You ignored the ridiculously badass Master Fu and fell for some worthless trash!”
“Didn’t I correct my mistake already—?”
“You really did?”
“Mhm. We’re already registered.”
“What the hell?! Qu Wanwan, you damn woman, you hid it from me again?! Friendship over!”
She turned to storm off, but Qu Wanwan grabbed her arm.
“Just hurry up and win over my brother. Then you two can go register too—problem solved.”
“You’ve got some nerve saying that. Your brother has to agree first!”
She’d been chasing him for three whole years, and Qu Mubai hadn’t even farted in her direction—how was she supposed to keep chasing?
“If it really doesn’t work out—”
“Force him if you have to—”
Mo Xiaobai’s beautiful eyes suddenly lit up. “That could work!”
Qu Wanwan figured there was no way she’d finish that painting today, so she’d have to leave it for another time.
“Let’s go, mutt—” Qu Wanwan waved her hand grandly.
“Go where?” Mo Xiaobai was still stuck on the idea of “forcing” her way with Qu Mubai.
“Taking you out to have some fun.”
“Sounds good!”
Their first stop: the Fu Group building. Qu Wanwan couldn’t help but sigh.
Ah! Having a rich husband really is happiness—
“Why’d you bring me here?”
“To buy you clothes.”
“I don’t need clothes!” Mo Xiaobai replied.
Qu Wanwan glanced at her—simple casual wear, but even that couldn’t hide her stunning eyes and graceful figure. That kind of body deserved to be shown off properly.
“My brother likes women in dresses. Makes them look elegant—”
“Let’s go. Today, you must buy a dress!”
Fu Group Headquarters
“President Fu, the front desk said someone left this note for you,” Qingye said, his expression serious.
In this day and age, someone delivering a handwritten note?
Not ordinary.
Fu Ciyu’s hand froze mid-motion as he took the note.
He slowly unfolded it, and his expression darkened.
[Fu Ciyu, long time no see! I wonder if you’re happy now?]
“Who delivered this?” His voice was icy.
“No idea,” Qingye replied. “The receptionist said they just dropped it off and left immediately.”
“Check the surveillance footage. Find out who it was.”
“Yes, I’ll get on it right away.”
He set the note down and immediately called Jiang Mujin.
Jiang Mujin, who was in the middle of handling school enrollment paperwork, picked up. “Ciyu? What’s wrong?”
“Mujin… he’s back—”
Jiang Mujin’s voice dropped. “Where?”
“I don’t know. I’ve already sent Qingye to investigate. He left the note at my company.”
“What did it say?”
‘Fu Ciyu, long time no see. Are you happy now?’
“Damn it! We should’ve finished him off back then!”
“Be careful these days.”
“Got it. You too. Oh right, I have some good news to share with you.”
“What is it?”
“I have a daughter now, Ciyu.”
“What? A daughter? With who?” Fu Ciyu was caught completely off guard.
Jiang Mujin replied proudly, “Who else? Of course it’s with Yanyan. My daughter is absolutely adorable.”
“Heh, so she forgave you?”
“Nope—”
Fu Ciyu chuckled with amusement. “Oh? Still hasn’t forgiven you, huh?”
