“Married, huh—” It sounded like a murmur, almost self-deprecating.
Qu Wanwan pointed to the painting in the middle on the left: “You can take a look at these as well.”
“No need—” Gu Zhi Nian replied coldly.
Qu Wanwan was a bit surprised. Did this person want a portrait of Fu Ciyu? Why was he so dismissive?
Before she could ask anything else, she saw the man turn and leave.
Mu Mu was puzzled: “Sister Wan, why is that person so strange?”
“I feel the same way—”
Not wanting to dwell on it, Qu Wanwan returned to her office, took a photo of the portrait of Fu Ciyu she had just finished, and saved it on her phone.
She then sent him a message: “Ah Yu, come home early tonight; I have a surprise for you.”
Fu Ciyu quickly replied: “Okay.”
Jiang Mujin was still in a meeting when he received a call from the school.
“Jiang Zong, sorry to disturb you at this time.”
Jiang Mujin raised his hand, signaling for the entire conference room to fall silent.
“Headmaster, go ahead.”
“Your daughter got into a fight with another child and has a scratch on her face. However, the other child is injured as well, and their parents are unwilling to reconcile—” The headmaster said, troubled.
Jiang Mujin’s expression darkened, “Yuyu is hurt?”
“Just a little scratch—”
“I’m coming right now.” Without waiting for the other party to respond, he hung up the phone, grabbed his coat, and rushed out of the meeting room.
The executives in the meeting room were astonished.
“What’s going on?”
“When did Jiang Zong become so reckless?”
Jiang Mujin said solemnly, “Let’s wrap up today’s meeting. Everyone, you can disperse.”
“Jiang Yi, does Jiang Zong have something urgent?” The planning department manager frowned tightly.
Jiang Yi replied indifferently, “Sorry, Manager Ke.”
At the Imperial Kindergarten
Headmaster’s Office
“Headmaster Mu, you need to give us an explanation. My child cannot be beaten for no reason.”
A plump woman, adorned with a gold necklace, glared at Huo Yanyan as she spoke arrogantly.
Yuyu frowned: “This lady, he provoked me first!”
The woman glared at Yuyu: “Child, who are you calling ‘lady’?”
Huo Yanyan quickly pulled Yuyu behind her, her cold voice resonating throughout the office: “My child is not someone who stirs up trouble.”
The woman was aggressive: “I don’t care about that. If my child is hurt, it’s simply unacceptable.”
“My child is hurt too—”
Looking at the scratch on her daughter’s face, Huo Yanyan felt a pang of heartache.
Was returning a mistake?
“Hmph, your child can’t compare to mine. We are from the He family,” the woman said smugly.
Then she looked at Huo Yanyan, her words dripping with sarcasm: “I suppose this child must be fatherless, right?”
“You’re talking nonsense! I have a dad!” Yuyu protested angrily.
The headmaster was clearly aware of the identities of this mother and daughter. He quickly advised: “Madam He, let’s be reasonable and sit down to discuss this calmly.”
“Headmaster, our He family has invested a lot in your kindergarten. Is this how you treat my son?”
“Children fighting is quite normal, especially since your He Yang was the one who spoke arrogantly first. Madam He, why must you be so aggressive?” The headmaster looked serious.
“Is the headmaster not planning to handle this?”
“If you feel it needs further attention, I’ll provide you with a satisfactory answer.”
She hoped she wouldn’t regret this later.
“I—”
“Bang!”
The office door was suddenly pushed open.
Jiang Mujin walked in with a dark expression, and upon seeing Huo Yanyan holding Yuyu, his gaze turned icy.
“What’s going on?”
Yuyu pointed at He Yang in grievance: “Dad——
He said I don’t have a dad and called me a wild child, so I hit him——”
Jiang Mujin trembled all over. His daughter was calling him “Daddy”?
“Dad?”
Jiang Mujin’s eyes grew warm, and he croaked, “Ah!”
Huo Yanyan looked at the usually proud man with red-rimmed eyes, feeling a ripple of emotion in her heart.
Jiang Mujin closed his eyes for a moment to adjust his emotions, and when he opened them again, he was filled with coldness.
His sharp gaze swept toward the woman, his voice frigid: “Do you understand?”
“What?” The woman looked bewildered.
“Your son said my daughter doesn’t have a father—”
“Isn’t that the case? Who knows if you really are—”
The woman wanted to say more but was intimidated by Jiang Mujin’s icy glare.
“Madam He—” The headmaster was worried she would escalate the situation.
But Madam He was completely unaware of the danger.
“Don’t try to scare me. My husband is He Wei.”
“Ha—”
“He family?” Jiang Mujin smirked coldly.
“Yes, I am Madam He!”
“Then I’ll wait for He Wei to come. Let’s call him.” Jiang Mujin hugged Yuyu and sat on the sofa, pulling Huo Yanyan down beside him.
“Hmph, just wait.” Saying this, Madam He actually picked up her phone to call He Wei, claiming her son was being bullied.
Sure enough, He Wei rushed over in a hurry ten minutes later.
“Let’s see who is bullying my son!”
But when he saw the man sitting on the sofa, his expression changed drastically: “Jiang—”
“Jiang Zong—”
Jiang Mujin was playing with Yuyu’s little hand, but his voice was devoid of warmth: “He Wei, it’s been a few days since we last met. You seem quite imposing now.”
He Wei looked terrified: “Jiang Zong, you’re joking—”
“How could I dare—” In the capital, aside from Fu Ciyu, Jiang Mujin’s means were the most lethal.
“Darling, it’s him. I don’t know where he came from, claiming to be this child’s father and bullying our son. We can’t let him go!”
Seeing He Wei arrive, Madam He instantly felt more confident.
Jiang Mujin’s voice turned low: “Oh? You can’t let me go?”
“Smack.”
Five fingerprints appeared on Madam He’s face.
She stared at her husband in shock, only to see him angrily say: “You foolish woman! Shut your mouth!”
Then he bowed to Jiang Mujin and apologized: “Jiang Zong, I’m sorry. This matter is our fault; please forgive us.”
“She said my daughter doesn’t have a father.”
“And said my daughter is a wild child.”
With each word, He Wei felt colder.
“Apologize to Jiang Zong!” He Wei growled.
Madam He seemed unwilling: “Why should I?”
“If you don’t apologize, we’ll get a divorce when we get home!”
“He Wei, you—”
“This is Jiang Zong of the Jiang Corporation.” He Wei reluctantly revealed Jiang Mujin’s identity to her.
Upon hearing this, Madam He’s face turned pale, and she quickly pulled her son to apologize to Jiang Mujin.
“Jiang Zong—”
“That—”
“I’m sorry, the child didn’t mean it. Please forgive us.”
“Why should I?”
The indifference in Jiang Mujin’s three words caused everyone present to change their expressions.
“How dare you touch someone like me, Jiang Mujin? What’s there to talk about forgiveness?”
“Jiang Mujin—” Huo Yanyan called softly.
Jiang Mujin’s gaze shifted slightly: “Do you want to forgive them?”
Huo Yanyan remained silent.
Jiang Mujin said sternly: “If there’s a first time, there will be a second. If we don’t deal with this, they’ll think I, Jiang Mujin, can be easily bullied.”
