Chapter 1

Pain!

A sharp pain throbbed on her forehead.

Shen Nanxi’s eyes flew open, only to be met with a pair of bloodshot, beast-like eyes.

“Shen Nanxi, come any closer and I’ll kill you!”

The man on the bed was ferocious. Shen Nanxi instinctively shrank back, only to find herself already pressed against the wall. A warm trickle slid down from her forehead, blurring her vision.

She reached up to wipe it and found blood. Panic flashed in her eyes as she looked around—and at the man on the bed.

The room was filled with an old-fashioned vibe: vintage furniture, outdated décor, and a tall, handsome man. Everything screamed of another era.

She had transmigrated.

“…Huo Xizhou…”

“Don’t call me!”

Her heart skipped a beat as she saw the man removing his belt. There was no longer any doubt—she had entered a book.

Last night, she had read a retro romance novel. The vicious supporting character just so happened to share her name. In annoyance, she’d argued with the author, demanding the name be changed. But who would’ve thought she’d wake up inside the story?

She was the eldest daughter of the prestigious Shen family in Yun City, and she hated her second uncle’s two illegitimate daughters the most. They were aggressive and constantly tried to take what was hers.

Then came this novel—where an illegitimate daughter not only shared her name but also seduced the female lead’s man. Naturally, she was furious and had a few words with the author. Now here she was, stuck in the book as the villainous illegitimate daughter.

This place was even called Yun City. The family background, setting—everything was eerily similar. Shen Nanxi began to suspect that her worst enemy had written the novel.

In this story, she was an illegitimate daughter who seduced men, stole the fiancée of the Shen family’s legitimate daughter, and wreaked havoc in the military compound. Everyone hated her.

Her husband, the commanding officer Huo Xizhou, loathed her the most. Even under the influence of an aphrodisiac, he refused to touch her. He’d kicked her off the bed, slamming her into the wall and splitting her head open.

And now, the man was on the bed, “solving the problem” on his own, completely ignoring the fact that she was drugged too.

The original Shen Nanxi had spiked the drink—and drank some herself. The drug wasn’t strong, but it was enough to make her body burn. She felt dizzy, disoriented, and unbearably hot.

She reached to strip off her clothes—only to realize she was already naked.

And even like this, the man still didn’t want her. For a proud heiress like her, it was the ultimate humiliation.

From the bed came the man’s heavy breathing. Shen Nanxi looked up to see his sharply defined face twisted with desire, his head thrown back as he panted, consumed by lust.

Her throat tightened. She swallowed hard.

He glared at her with eyes full of disgust.
“Wipe that repulsive look off your face!”

“You—”

She wanted to curse, but she was a lady of refinement and self-restraint. Swearing wasn’t her style.

She averted her eyes, grabbed a piece of clothing off the floor to wipe the blood from her forehead, then covered herself and leaned weakly against the wall.

Her face flushed an unnatural pink, like a ripe apple ready to burst. She bit her lip and let out a stifled moan. She was now the shameless villainess clinging to a man—no one would pity her.

In the original novel, the male lead Huo Xizhou had been engaged to the heroine, Shen Ziyan, since they were young. They were deeply in love. But the original Shen Nanxi forced herself into the relationship, tearing them apart.

No matter how she seduced Huo Xizhou, he refused to share a bed with her. Out of spite, she flirted with other men to make him jealous—only to be set up and caught in a scandal. Huo Xizhou divorced her.

After that, nothing went right. She couldn’t find a decent man, no job would hire her except street sweeping. Even that job left her exposed to thugs who harassed and beat her. One of them eventually got her pregnant and treated her like dirt.

Her mother ended up cleaning public toilets. Her younger brother was crippled in a school fight and couldn’t find a wife. Meanwhile, the heroine lived happily ever after, with a successful career, three children, and a rich, loving husband.

The original Shen Nanxi watched all this from the sidelines, bitter and regretful until the end of her life.

Now, the real Shen Nanxi was trapped in her place. She hated illegitimate daughters—and now she was one.

Her biological father, Shen Cheng, had made his fortune in the black market and now owned jewelry factories and malls. Her half-sister Shen Ziyan was the family’s beloved princess. But she—born of a fling with a gold-digging woman—was abandoned before birth. Her mother had seduced Shen Cheng for money and fled to the countryside to give birth.

When the original Shen Nanxi found out who her father was, she came to the city to fight for her “rightful” place—and stole the heroine’s fiancé in the process.

She and Huo Xizhou had been married for six months and still hadn’t consummated. In desperation, she’d even drugged him with livestock aphrodisiacs. Still, he wanted nothing to do with her.

Before she knew it, her hand was wandering downwards. She froze. How could she be doing this? But her body was burning, and her senses were slipping.

Her lips parted, breathy and seductive. Her beauty was inherited—her mother had been stunning, enough to ensnare Shen Cheng, and she was even more breathtaking than Shen Ziyan.

With porcelain skin, a curvaceous figure, and soft peaks flushed with a rosy hue—she was the embodiment of temptation.

Her voice reached Huo Xizhou, and something in him trembled. He gasped heavily. Though the drug was brutal, he felt some relief—but he wasn’t done yet.

Soon after, Shen Nanxi’s moans filled the room. Huo Xizhou’s eyes darkened. He too, found release.

Shen Nanxi collapsed, exhausted. At least her head had stopped bleeding.

She leaned against the wall, tears silently falling. She had been raised like a precious jewel, yet now she was nothing. How could she not feel heartbroken?

“You reap what you sow!”

The man’s voice was cold.

Shen Nanxi looked up, her eyes wet and trembling. “Huo Xizhou… I was wrong. Let’s get a divorce tomorrow.”

He let out a cold laugh, desire still lingering in his eyes, his face unnaturally flushed.
“Didn’t you say you’d rather die than divorce me? Don’t tell me this is some kind of reverse-psychology trick.”

She bowed her head, weakly. “I’m tired… I just want it to end.”

Huo Xizhou was stunned. She actually said that? But his heart was unmoved.

“Get out. This is my room.”

“Cough… cough cough…”

As the heat faded, a chill set in. Her head throbbed, and a flood of unfamiliar memories surged into her mind. She held her head in pain, tears streaming down her face.

Huo Xizhou watched her coldly. Sick? Suffering? She brought it on herself.

As the pain eased, Shen Nanxi wiped her tears and staggered to her feet. She covered herself with a piece of clothing and shuffled toward the door. Her graceful figure was on full display.

Huo Xizhou’s eyes darkened, his throat bobbing involuntarily. He hated her—so why did he react like this?

Shen Nanxi stepped out. She and Huo Xizhou had separate bedrooms. Hers was the small guest room next door.

It was still fairly tidy—at least the original was clean. She crawled into bed and pulled the blanket over herself. It was her body’s bed anyway. She had no reason to be picky anymore.
