Welcome to the New World [Infinite Flow]
Welcome to the New World [Infinite] Chapter 28: Infinite Hotel (6)

0695 wore a long face as he took custody of four Wishers who needed to be transferred to the small dark room for fighting, handed over by the patrol team.

This was originally a minor matter, but a particular name on the transfer list made his brow twitch involuntarily.

Fighting?

A young girl and three men?

0695 flipped through the detailed explanation attached to the ticket. These three men had a prior record of threats and robbery leading up to the altercation. He reviewed the surveillance footage from the time of the incident and frowned frequently at their uncivilized remarks.

Until the composed Ding Yi walked over and punched one of them squarely in the nose, at which point the companions turned on each other. Then, Ding Yi skillfully dodged their clumsy attacks and proceeded to punch each of them in the nose before the patrol team finally arrived.

So… the so-called fighting was…

“Report, Wishers have been brought in.”

0695 raised his eyes and saw Ding Yi, who appeared completely unharmed, raising her hand with a hint of surprise to greet him. “What a coincidence,” she said. “We meet again.”

0695, who had never been greeted so enthusiastically by a Wisher, was stunned for a moment. His ears then flushed a deep red as he turned his face away, saying coldly, “Hurry up and go in.”

This brief exchange left the three men with their bloodied noses utterly dumbfounded.

This woman knows these people in suits!

Along the way, Ding Yi continued to engage 0695 in conversation, persistently asking about the small dark room. The answers she received didn’t differ significantly from the uncle’s description.

His demeanor was cold and somewhat indifferent, but Ding Yi didn’t mind. What was wrong with a beautiful man having a bit of a temper? He had a temper, yet he still answered her questions. This good-looking man was truly a good person.

The three men trailing two or three steps behind were completely bewildered. They had witnessed firsthand what happened to individuals who dared to pester the suit-clad personnel. Why was this woman being treated differently?

Just because she’s a woman?

“Hmm? What’s this about this time?”

The man walking towards them caused the three men to tremble visibly. Even his casual glance sent shivers down their spines. How could this woman still be acting so nonchalantly?!

“You? Haven’t you finished your punishment yet?” Qin Yuan asked, taking the ticket from 0695 and glancing at it. He wasn’t surprised by the accusations listed. “I’m not like you, I’m working.”

Ding Yi glanced at him. “Oh, you’re so amazing.”

“Then you can continue to be busy,” she added with a hint of playful sarcasm.

“Not in a hurry,” Qin Yuan said, turning around. “I still have time to send you over.”

This woman knows this man, too! The three thugs exchanged horrified glances.

Ding Yi remained oblivious to the shockwaves rippling through the group behind her. She mentally pieced together the information she had gathered about the small dark room and suddenly detected a subtle undercurrent in Qin Yuan’s words.

“What do you want to see?” she asked, her brows slightly furrowed.

Qin Yuan looked at her thoughtful expression and a sudden smile touched his lips. “Naturally, something interesting.”

“Were you satisfied with what you saw after I went in last time?” Ding Yi countered, a knowing glint in her eyes.

Silence hung in the air for a moment, and in that silence, Ding Yi found her answer. She returned his smile, a hint of amusement playing on her lips. “What to do? I guess I’m going to disappoint you again this time.”

Qin Yuan observed her provocative expression, his smile remaining unchanged. “That’s hard to say.”

Witnessing the silent battle of wits unfolding between the two, 0695 discreetly slowed his pace, putting a couple of steps between himself and them to avoid any potential collateral damage.

Although the four individuals’ offenses were slightly different, the final verdict was the same: sixty minutes in the small dark room.

Before stepping inside, Ding Yi glanced at the three men who were desperately grabbing at imaginary weapons. She then picked up a small dagger, similar to the one she had found last time, and asked Qin Yuan with a sincere expression, “Are there any forks?”

The smile on Qin Yuan’s face deepened, but a shadow flickered in his eyes. “It’s not good to be too arrogant.”

“How could I be?” Ding Yi retorted in a gentle tone, feigning innocence. “I’m just asking.”

“If there aren’t any, then there aren’t any,” Ding Yi said, casually playing with the dagger in her hand. “It’s not like I can’t use it.”

“Do you want me to leave a piece for you to bring out?” she added, her tone laced with playful challenge.

0695 and the three men, still frantically miming the act of grabbing weapons, subtly shifted several steps to the side in unspoken agreement, fearing they might suddenly be splattered with blood.

Qin Yuan quickly pressed his cheek against his teeth, a tight smile playing on his lips that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “So confident?”

“Confident women have the best lives,” Ding Yi replied smoothly.

Qin Yuan was genuinely amused by this. “If you can manage it, great.”

Ding Yi, sensing she had teased him enough, reached for the doorknob. “Then I’m going in?”

Qin Yuan raised his chin in acknowledgment, and Ding Yi returned a knowing smile. But as she turned to face the wooden door bearing her name, her playful expression vanished, replaced by a neutral mask.

Darkness still instantly enveloped her.

This time, however, the darkness carried a hint of oppression, causing not only a ringing in her ears but also a distinct awareness of her own heartbeat.

The only constant was the familiar smallness of the space and the stuffy air.

When she counted to thirty, a bean-sized candlelight flickered to life in front of her once more. This time, it was a green candle.

Ding Yi subconsciously quirked the corner of her mouth and softly sang a happy birthday song.

The song ended, the candle extinguished, and a matcha ice cream cake adorned with fresh cream sat temptingly under the warm glow of an incandescent lamp.

Outside the door.

0695 carefully observed his boss’s expression. Compared to the complete emotional outburst of the previous time, this time Qin Yuan seemed utterly unfazed.

His molars weren’t clenched, his cheeks weren’t pressed, his brows weren’t furrowed. He appeared completely indifferent.

After staring at the screen for a while, Qin Yuan lowered his eyes and turned to leave, offering a curt, “Thank you for your hard work.”

0695 stood up in a fluster and watched his boss depart, a knot of uncertainty tightening in his stomach.

Is he angry or not?

Qin Yuan had indeed just returned from the central building.

He had taken a moment amidst his work to check something – Wisher Ding Yi’s file.

The interesting thing wasn’t what he found in the file, but rather what he couldn’t find.

In the elevator, Qin Yuan stared at the rapidly changing display screen, lost in thought. The supervisors sharing the elevator with him all silently shrank back, speculating about the thorny issue their boss had encountered.

Every Wisher who entered the New World had a detailed record of their identity and life in another world.

It wasn’t that Ding Yi didn’t have this file.

She had one.

But he couldn’t access it.

As the manager with the highest authority, Qin Yuan could access all information except for the Red Level One confidential files.

The Red Level One secrets were directly kept and recorded by the main AI, and there were only a handful of them in total.

As a Wisher, her file was classified as a top-secret, Red Level One.

“Boss, are you getting off?”

Qin Yuan snapped back to his senses, looked at the open elevator door, nodded to the supervisor who was holding it open, and stepped out.

Red Level One.

How could it not be more intriguing than seeing her file directly?

Ding Yi…

He repeatedly mouthed these two words, a flicker of something unreadable in his eyes.

He had truly hit the jackpot.

Ding Yi, feeling full but not particularly well-rested, was slightly irritable when she was jolted awake upon exiting the small dark room. She walked out, stifling a yawn.

She happened to see the three individuals from the adjacent door emerging in a comical sequence of semi-squatting, crawling, and rolling.

The three men slowly regained their senses and turned their heads to see the sleepy-eyed Ding Yi standing there, completely unscathed. Their expressions underwent a drastic transformation, morphing from dazed to accusatory. “You’re going through the back door!” one of them exclaimed.

“You didn’t go in at all, did you!” another accused, pointing a shaky finger.

“It’s not fair! You’re bullying us!” the third one whined, his voice filled with injustice.
