Farming in the Beast World, Leading the Whole Tribe to Prosperity
Farming in the Beast World, Leading the Whole Tribe to Prosperity | Chapter 13: Tailwind Beast

This was the second time Wen Ze had seen Zhuo Mu in his beast form since arriving in the beast world.

Unlike last time, when he quickly fainted, this time he was mentally prepared. However, even though he had an idea of what Zhuo Mu’s beast form looked like, he still felt nervous just by looking at it.

It was too close, and he could see the giant snake’s brow, red eyes, nose, and long mouth clearly. He can even count each scale on its body.

The scales weren’t all the same size. The larger ones were on its body, and the closer they got to the head and tail, the smaller they became.

Under the sunlight, Wen Ze noticed that the scales from Zhuo Mu’s eyes to the middle of his forehead had thin, flame-like patterns. As he breathed gently, the white scales flickered as if real flames were flowing on them.

It was an extreme, wild, and pure beauty.

The pure white giant snake calmly stared at him. The inhuman feeling brought by its huge body shocked Wen Ze’s nerves.

Feeling the silent pressure, Wen Ze’s mind went blank.

By the time he regained his senses, he was already sitting on Zhuo Mu’s head.

“We’re leaving.” In his beast form, Zhuo Mu’s voice was even deeper, and the vibrations of his body made the volume much louder.

Wen Ze still hadn’t fully come to his senses. He just subconsciously straightened his body while holding the straps of the basket in his hand.

Zhuo Mu held his head up, and his long body twisted as he quickly sped across the big patch of green grass ahead.

As he moved, a rustling sound came into Wen Ze’s ears.

It took him a while to regain his composure, and he slowly began to take deep breaths.

He was actually sitting on the body of the giant snake!

To be honest, after overcoming the fear, it didn’t feel too bad.

Zhuo Mu moved quickly, but his movements were quiet, almost blending with the sound of the grass swaying.

Moreover, sitting on its head, there was hardly any shaking.

His head was so large, and with it being supported, Wen Ze sat with his legs crossed, feeling like he was sitting on the roof of a small car.

There was plenty of space, so he could actually lie down and sleep without any problem.

Moreover, the giant snake can crawl so fast while maintaining this posture. If he were to completely crawl on the ground, how terrifying could the speed be when he’s lying in wait?

Wen Ze was secretly amazed, and his body slowly relaxed. Then, he suddenly remembered something.

Unless under special circumstances, a beastman can only carry his partner and children on his back.

Zhuo Mu was a single beastman. Wasn’t it a bit inappropriate for him to carry him on his back?

But Wen Ze had already climbed up and felt too shy to say anything…

Sigh, it was his fault for being new to the beast world and not having seen much of the world.

Zhuo Mu is a warrior from the Southern Mountain Tribe. His hearing, sense of smell, and awareness are all very sharp.

He clearly sensed Wen Ze’s shift from being tense to slowly relaxing his body.

Zhuo Mu blinked his red eyes and thought to himself: He shouldn’t be afraid of me now, right?

The white giant snake moved swiftly, and soon they arrived at the open space of the tribe’s altar.

From a distance, Wen Ze could see beastmen and half-beastmen scattered in small groups. Most of them had changed from their animal hide skirts to their new hemp clothes.

Further away, some other beastmen were carrying their partners on their backs in their beast form.

After Zhuo Mu stopped, he turned around and said, “We’re here.”

Wen Ze didn’t dare to delay, and when he lowered his head, he immediately slid down from his head. The process was like sliding down a slide.

The balance of his body wasn’t great, and he almost stumbled when he landed, but fortunately, he managed to steady himself.

Turning around to look at Zhuo Mu, he had already turned into his human form and put his clothes back on.

Wen Ze acted calmly, “Thank you.”

“No need,” Zhuo Mu said calmly. “Go ahead, I’m leaving too.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Wen Ze watched him walk away, thinking, Maybe he really just wanted to give me a ride because he saw that I had just recovered from an injury, so I shouldn’t think too much about it.

“Wen Ze! Over here!” A clear and pleasant male voice called to him.

Wen Ze looked over to see the handsome and refined Bai Ling standing next to the gentle half-beastman, Sang Hui. He smiled and waved his arm at him.

“I’m coming!” Wen Ze responded while walking over quickly.

“Haha, carrying such a big basket, it seems you’re very motivated today,” Bai Ling, who was only slightly older than Wen Ze and had a more lively personality, said with a smile.

Wen Ze scratched his head and didn’t deny it. “I was afraid it wouldn’t be enough if I made it smaller. Oh, and you’ve already changed into your new clothes. They look really good.”

Sang Hui and Bai Ling were wearing knee-length robes. The color of the cloth was slightly grayer than his own and looked very thick.

The difference was that they had shortened the sleeves to elbow length, which not only looked good and highlighted their figures but also made it easier to move around.

Additionally, the stitches on their clothes were neat and even, much better than the ones he made.

Well, along the way, he didn’t find any half-beastmen whose needlework was worse than his…

Wen Ze was actually wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, with straw shoes on his feet.

The sleeve ends and pant legs were tied tightly with hemp ropes. There was no other way. The insects in the animal world were more than two sizes larger than the modern ones, and he really didn’t want these things to crawl into his clothes.

Oh right, one thing he really appreciated about the Beast World was that there were no mosquitoes!

There are large moths, but they don’t suck blood. They just really look so ugly.

He really hates mosquitoes! He’s thankful to the Beast World and the Beast God for wiping them out.

Sang Hui and Bai Ling smiled at each other and said, “Yes, thanks to the method you taught us, we were able to weave the cloth quickly. Now the whole family has clothes to wear.”

Bai Ling stared at Wen Ze’s pants curiously and asked, “What are these? I’ve never seen them before.”

Wen Ze explained, “These are called pants. They are more convenient to wear than skirts when working.”

While speaking, he lifted his leg and adjusted his robe, exposing the waistband of his pants.

“I sewed a strap made from animal skin and placed it here. Once it’s tied, it won’t fall off.”

Bai Ling’s eyes lit up as he got closer. “Really! It looks so convenient!”

He turned around and asked Sang Hui for his opinion. “Father, we still have some cloth left, right? When we get back today, let’s make some pants to wear! They look much better than skirts!”

Sang Hui didn’t have any objections. “Sure.”

By this point, several other half-beastmen had gathered around, their ears perked up in curiosity.

They also stared at Wen Ze’s pants with a mix of curiosity and envy and said, “I’m going to make a pair when I get home! I’ll also make a short robe to show off my pants!”

“It feels like if we wear pants, we don’t even need robes anymore. Didn’t we just wrap ourselves in animal hide skirts during the summer?”

“Exactly… Wen Ze, why didn’t you make pants at the start?”

Wen Ze: “…”

Because, in the modern world, when he goes out, he never goes shirtless and is used to wearing clothes…

But obviously, he couldn’t say that.

“Haha, I was thinking of making both the clothes and pants together,” he answered awkwardly.

Fortunately, no one lingered on the issue. Instead, they excitedly started planning. “I’ve run out of cloth at home. When I get back, I’ll need to hurry to spin thread and weave some more!”

“That reminds me, Wen Ze, can we take a look at your pants later? I’m worried I won’t be able to make them right.”

Wen Ze turned his head and saw that the person who spoke was a gentle and handsome half-beastman named Li Shui.

The short-sleeved, mid-length robe he wore had a cross-collar design. Fabric ties were sewn on either side of the collar to fasten it, resembling the modern traditional Chinese Tang-style clothing Wen Ze had seen before.

But Wen Ze was very sure that he had never taught this style!

“Li Shui, did you make this robe yourself?” Wen Ze asked, a bit embarrassed.

Li Shui nodded, “Yes. Is something wrong?”

Wen Ze said, “No, it looks very nice. Pants aren’t difficult to make. With your skill, I’m sure you can do it. If you’re not confident, you can come to Zhuo Mu’s cave later, and I’ll show you how I made it.”

Li Shui received praise and broke into a bright smile, then said seriously, “Okay, I will definitely go.”

The others, not wanting to be left behind, said, “Wen Ze, I want to go as well!”

“Me too, me too!”

The noise was loud, and the beastmen in the distance kept glancing over. When Wen Ze looked, he saw Zhuo Mu, who met his gaze and gave a faint smile.

“Alright,” Sang Hui clapped his hands, and the noisy half-beastmen quieted down.

“Bai Ling, help me count the people.”

“Okay.”

Sang Hui spoke to the half-beastmen, “As you all know, it has rained for a while. Now that the rain has stopped, the mushrooms on the mountain have started to grow. So, our plan today is to pick mushrooms.”

So it’s mushroom picking! Wen Ze immediately imagined several delicious dishes made from mushrooms. His eyes lit up, and his mouth began to water.

Sang Hui continued, “After we leave the tribe, we will head southeast to the foot of Changping Mountain. We will start collecting supplies from the bottom to the top and finally meet at the top of the mountain. Then we will go over Changping Mountain and head back.”

Everyone nodded, indicating they understood.

Bai Ling said, “Father, I’ve finished counting.”

Sang Hui responded, “Alright, let’s go.”

The half-beastmen cheered and started heading out of the tribe.

The place where the beastmen were hunting today was not in the same direction as them, so they couldn’t get a free ride on the way.

But the half-beastmen didn’t mind at all. They moved quickly, talking and laughing along the way.

Some of the half-beastmen were good at singing and instantly performed a few songs. The melodies were beautiful, and the lyrics reflected everyday life.

Wen Ze couldn’t sing the songs of the beast world, but he still enjoyed listening. He, along with the others, clapped for the singing half-beastmen until his palms turned red.

With someone accompanying him, the boring mountain road was not difficult at all. When he came to his senses, they had already arrived.

Changping Mountain wasn’t as long as Qingfeng Mountain, where their tribe lived, but it wasn’t short either. Moreover, the forest was dense, and the mountain was high.

Looking up from the foot of the mountain, he could even see the misty white fog swirling around the top. It looked so beautiful that it almost seemed like a dream.

Sang Hui reminded them, “Remember, don’t wander too far. If you encounter a beast you can’t handle, blow the whistle to call for help.”

The half-beastmen all responded, “Got it.”

Wen Ze recalled that half-beastmen had several different types of whistles to convey simple messages.

They could blow directly with their mouths, use their fingers, or even blow through leaves to make the sound.

As for the beastmen… they could just change into their beast form, and if they needed to communicate, a single roar would do. Their sound, though not enough to pierce the clouds, was still very powerful.

As everyone scattered, Wen Ze couldn’t help but admire the knowledge of the half-beastmen and awkwardly tried to whistle — but nothing came out.

Well, it seems whistling might require some talent after all.

Worried about encountering danger and not having time to call for help, he didn’t dare to go too far and walked through the woods towards the mountain.

Soon, he spotted several piles of mushrooms but was faced with a problem—

Which one of these is safe to eat?
