Farming in the Beast World, Leading the Whole Tribe to Prosperity
Farming in the Beast World, Leading the Whole Tribe to Prosperity | Chapter 37: Opening the Kiln

Chi Yu, who had been caught red-handed, didn’t seem bothered at all. Instead, he chuckled a few times, looking relaxed.

He turned his head and looked directly at Sang Hui. “If I weren’t in front of you, I wouldn’t even mention it. But our Rainbow Sun Tribe doesn’t do things in secret.”

Sang Hui and Wen Ze both fell silent. “…”

So, stealing people from the South Mountain Tribe is what you call straightforward?

Chi Yu then looked at Wen Ze again. He showed a warm smile, but his tone was serious. “You’re such a smart and capable half-beastman; the Rainbow Sun Tribe would welcome you with open arms. What do you think? Have you considered joining us?”

He explained the situation directly. “I guarantee that whatever you have in the South Mountain Tribe, the Rainbow Sun Tribe can offer the same. We’ll make sure you’re well-fed, warm, and never mistreated.”

Sang Hui understood the underlying message: if the South Mountain Tribe didn’t treat Wen Ze well, the Rainbow Sun Tribe would gladly take him in.

Heh, how could he, as one of the leaders of the South Mountain Tribe, let him have this opportunity?

With confidence, Sang Hui responded coldly, “Our tribe won’t let him suffer either.”

Chi Yu simply wanted to express his intention to win over Wen Ze and understood Sang Hui’s reaction, so he naturally didn’t want to cause conflict.

Sensing the right moment to back off, he smiled calmly and looked at Wen Ze, waiting for his response.

Wen Ze set down the small knife in his hand and replied a bit awkwardly, “Leader Chi Yu, thank you for your kind offer, but I’m quite comfortable staying with the South Mountain Tribe.”

It was clear he wasn’t planning to come over, leaving Chi Yu a bit disappointed.

He glanced around and, with a sly grin, asked, “Then what kind of partner are you looking for? We have quite a few young, single beastmen in our tribe. They’re good-looking, strong, and skilled hunters. Would you like me to introduce a few to you?”

How did I end up in the Beast World and still can’t escape matchmaking?

But Wen Ze suddenly turned red; he unexpectedly thought of Zhuo Mu.

He had seen Zhuo Mu’s skills firsthand.

Even if the other beastmen are strong, can any of them be as strong as him?

He shook his head lightly, not only rejecting Chi Yu but also clearing the distracting thoughts from his mind.

“I don’t have any plans to find a partner anytime soon.”

Just as Tribe Leader Chi Yu was about to speak again, someone suddenly appeared in front of him.

Sang Hui couldn’t watch any longer. For once, he looked serious, frowning and giving Chi Yu a disapproving look.

“Wen Ze is still young, and he’s embarrassed. You’re more than ten years older than him and he already made his position clear. If you continue this Chi Yu, you’re just making things uncomfortable. Even though our South Mountain Tribe is small, we won’t hesitate to fight for our people.”

As the tribe leader, Chi Yu was momentarily taken aback by Sang Hui’s bluntness. His usually handsome face turned cold for a second, but in the blink of an eye, he was smiling again.

He raised his hand, took a step back, and closed his mouth, signaling that he wouldn’t say anything more.

The atmosphere was incredibly awkward. The half-beastmen from the Rainbow Sun Tribe remained silent, even lowering their voices while weaving.

Wen Ze was also feeling a bit lost. With his eyes down, he awkwardly made an excuse, “I’ll go check out some other things.”

He turned around, took a few steps away, and grabbed the knife.

His mind was all over the place, and he didn’t pay much attention as he grabbed a piece of wood and placed it in front of him.

As he tried to sort his thoughts, he casually brought the knife down—“Crack,” the wood split in two.

After chopping through about ten more pieces, he finally realized what he was doing and focused on what was in front of him.

Luckily, these were all just for firewood, so they weren’t really ruined.

He crouched down, holding the knife in one hand and picking up the split wood with the other.

The cuts were neat, and this knife was quite useful.

If only he had a knife like this, it would make work so much easier.

Sigh, he really envied it!

Chi Yu went back to weaving, and gradually, everyone started chatting again.

He even smiled and exchanged a few words with Sang Hui. With such a good attitude, Sang Hui couldn’t keep a cold expression anymore.

Wen Ze took a moment to process his emotions, and once the awkwardness passed, he walked over to check on everyone’s progress with the weaving.

“You’re picking it up fast; the fabric is fine and even,” he said with a smile. “Not bad, not bad. In just half a day, you’ve become skilled. You’re almost ready to do it on your own!”

The young half-beastmen really liked Wen Ze, and when they received his praise, each of them smiled as brightly as flowers.

“You taught us well. Without you, we wouldn’t have learned how to weave.”

“When we get back, I’ll teach my two fathers the method so they can weave with me!”

“I really love this fabric. I can’t wait to wear clothes just like yours!”

“Wen Ze, you’re really amazing! Thank you!”

Looking at the blushing, handsome faces and hearing their heartfelt thanks, Wen Ze felt a little embarrassed but also a growing sense of accomplishment.

Being recognized for his hard work made him happier than actually weaving any fabric himself.

His face turned slightly red as he humbly said, “Please, don’t mention it. Our two tribes made an exchange. You taught us everything about the pottery kiln, and I’m just doing my part in teaching everyone.”

“I’ll be heading back to the South Mountain Tribe soon, so those of you who have learned should teach others. If there’s anything you don’t understand, make sure to ask while I’m still here.”

Everyone nodded repeatedly. “We understand.”

Huo Lan sighed, “I really wish you could stay with us for a few more days.”

The others agreed, “Yes, yes, there are plenty of empty caves; you could stay a bit longer.”

Their enthusiasm made Wen Ze feel really touched.

“Thank you, but my little brother is waiting for me at home.”

“Right, if you get the chance, you should bring your brother to visit our tribe!”

“My kid is about the same age as your little brother! He’s a gray wolf, so they can definitely play together!”

Wen Ze smiled and nodded. “I definitely will.”

In the afternoon, Zhuo Mu and the others returned from hunting.

After finishing up what he was doing, Wen Ze went over to find them and saw that Sang Hui was talking to them about something.

When the others noticed him approaching, they all silently stopped talking and stared at him with knowing looks.

Wen Ze: “…”

Sang Hui must have mentioned something about what happened earlier.

He felt his face starting to heat up again.

“How was the hunting today?” Wen Ze smiled, trying to start a new topic.

Wu Ye spoke up and told everything in great detail.

Even the usually quiet Ji Sha added a few comments from the side.

Huh? Why did it feel like they were all trying to show off?

Actually, it wasn’t just a feeling.

Chi Yu’s actions had created a strong sense of crisis among them.

Although they had always been good to Wen Ze, they had all secretly made up their minds to make sure Wen Ze felt appreciated!

They absolutely couldn’t let the people from the Rainbow Sun Tribe succeed!

Wen Ze slowly started to figure out what they were thinking and couldn’t help but feel both amused and helpless.

The South Mountain Tribe raised him, and he truly had no intention of leaving.

In the afternoon, Wen Ze took a short rest in his cave before heading back to the outside of Chi Yu’s cave.

When he saw the crowd of people, he was shocked.

“What’s going on?” he asked quickly.

Huo Lan hurriedly explained, “It’s nothing, nothing. They just want to see how we weave the fabric.”

One of the beastmen added, “Yes, we’re standing far away and staying quiet. We promise not to disturb you.”

“Hehe, I’ve been thinking about the fabric you weave, and I couldn’t sleep in the cave for a while. Can we just watch?”

“If you need any help, just let us know!”

Wen Ze smiled. “Well, if you’re just watching, you might as well come and learn with us.”

As soon as he said that, everyone around them started to talk excitedly.

“What? We can learn?”

“Beast God! Can we really learn?”

“Will you teach us?”

Wen Ze shook his head, then pointed to his first group of ‘students.’ “They’ve learned almost everything, so let them teach you. I’ll just keep an eye on things from the side.”

He had his own little reason for this. He didn’t want to keep repeating the same things over and over.

Everyone cheered and kept thanking Wen Ze.

Soon, the crowd broke up into small groups. The newcomers gathered around the first group of students, watching and learning carefully.

Even though there were a lot of people, their voices were all soft, as if weaving was a sacred, untouchable task.

In this way, the second group of students also got started, but they had a bit of a rough start.

Wen Ze acted like a “teacher,” walking around, answering questions, and clearing things up.

The afternoon passed quickly, and everyone reluctantly packed up their weaving frames and began preparing dinner.

They decided to eat together again, so everyone worked hard to prepare a hearty meal.

Wen Ze was still thinking about the kiln, so he checked with Chi Yu once more to make sure it had cooled enough. They agreed to open it once the sun set.

Then like everyone else, he quickly finished his meal.

After cleaning up, he watched the sun, which he had been waiting for all day, slowly sink behind the thick mountains.

The warm, red sunset filled the sky, creating a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

From time to time, flocks of large birds flew across the sky, their calls echoing in the distance.

In the middle of such stunning scenery, the beastmen changed back into their beast forms, carrying their companions and loved ones on their backs as they rushed toward the kiln.

Without hesitation, Wen Ze climbed onto the back of the pure white giant python and followed the large group.

The path to the kiln had long been widened and flattened by the giant beasts. As they ran swiftly, a cloud of dust rose behind them.

Before long, they arrived at the kiln.

The half-beastmen landed, and the beastmen quickly changed back into their human forms.

“I’ll open the kiln with a few others,” Chi Yu said seriously as he focused on the task at hand. “The South Mountain Tribe can come along too.”

The group agreed.

Wen Ze, who was still a teacher during the day, was now a serious student, listening carefully within the group.

Everyone worked in an organized manner, moving the finished pottery pieces one by one and placing them in the open area.

Some pottery pieces didn’t fire properly and had turned into fragments inside the kiln, which made Wen Ze feel a bit nervous.

It was his suggestion to dig a hole under the steps, but what if the failure rate actually increased?

Even if the Rainbow Sun Tribe didn’t say anything, he would still feel guilty.

With that in mind, he willingly took on the job of arranging the pottery.

He arranged the pottery neatly by size, aligning them in rows.

In the end, the complete pottery pieces counted up to exactly seventeen rows and seventeen sections.

Everyone gathered on the open ground, staring intently at the pottery below.

With no moon tonight, the light was dim, so they lit torches and held them high.

Wen Ze noticed someone going through the pottery, counting them, and whispering something under his breath.

The others likely didn’t want to disturb him or were silently counting too, as there was almost no sound.

Wen Ze quickly calculated 17 times 17 in his head and softly said, “There are a total of 289 pieces of pottery here.”

The beastmen with sharp hearing immediately turned to look at him.

Please bear with me if I didn’t update right away 😅. I was either buried in work 💼… or buried in rereading the book 📖. (P.S. Most of the time I’m rereading it 🤭—so you know just how good the story is! 🌟)
