The expression on Jiang Yanci’s face no longer showed any hint of abnormality. He leaned forward slightly to make it easier to talk to Wen Jiu.
“Best two out of three, by your rules—whoever loses takes off their shirt and runs a lap. If I win, I get your contact info.”
“Alright,” Wen Jiu agreed without hesitation. But Jiang Yanci added,
“I want your real contact info. The one you actually use.”
Not one of those zombie accounts she gave to brush people off.
Wen Jiu didn’t agree right away. Instead, she countered, “High or low?”
Jiang Yanci didn’t insist either and simply said, “Whatever you say.”
“Then we’ll go with small,” Wen Jiu replied, then gestured to him. “You first.”
Jiang Yanci didn’t decline again. He casually shook the dice cup two or three times on the table before stopping, then calmly made a “please” gesture toward Wen Jiu.
Wen Jiu, clearly experienced, picked up the dice cup and gave it a few quick shakes before setting it down as well.
Qi Qin glanced back and forth between the two. Their movements were both so casual, and their expressions equally calm—it was impossible to tell who had the upper hand. So he made a decision and said, “How about you reveal them at the same time?”
Wen Jiu nodded and exchanged a glance with Jiang Yanci before they lifted the dice cups simultaneously.
The onlookers quickly leaned in to get a better look.
Qi Qin looked at the dice in front of Wen Jiu first and praised, “Three ones again—your technique’s really something.”
After observing Wen Jiu for a while, Qi Qin noticed that she seemed to shake out three identical dice quite effortlessly.
Yet despite the compliment, there wasn’t much joy on Wen Jiu’s face.
Her eyes were fixed on the dice in front of Jiang Yanci—three dice stacked neatly on top of each other, showing only a single red dot on the top. It was clear she had lost, no doubt about it.
Wen Jiu wasn’t someone who couldn’t accept defeat. She simply brought up a QR code and said, “Go ahead, scan it.”
But Jiang Yanci just glanced at it calmly and shook his head. “That’s not the one I want to add.”
What Wen Jiu showed wasn’t her usual Green Bubble account. She hadn’t even bothered to switch accounts—Jiang Yanci wasn’t blind.
When she was exposed on the spot, Wen Jiu wasn’t embarrassed at all. She simply smiled at Jiang Yanci and said openly, “Then teach me how to roll dice.”
Seeing the eager glint in her eyes, Jiang Yanci couldn’t quite understand why she was so interested in rolling dice, so he asked her directly.
Without even thinking, Wen Jiu replied, “Because it looks cool.”
An awkward silence spread—then, the next moment, Jiang Yanci burst out laughing.
When he smiled, the corners of his lips lifted just right, and the clarity in his eyes shimmered like peach blossoms swaying in a spring breeze.
He looked almost ridiculously handsome.
Wen Jiu stared at him for a moment before finally forcing herself to look away.
On the side, Qi Qin marveled, “You’re just like my bro Yanci when he first started learning dice.”
Rolling dice wasn’t something any of them had to learn, but since people in their circle enjoyed playing, most of them picked up a bit of skill.
Only Jiang Yanci had truly mastered this skill with finesse—so much so that he was sometimes invited just to lend prestige to the scene.
Back then, the reason Jiang Yanci spent time learning it all came down to one word—cool.
Wen Jiu’s eyes sparkled as she pulled up her frequently used green QR code bubble, waiting for Jiang Yanci to scan it.
“Want to add a note?” Jiang Yanci asked casually.
This was as good as agreeing to teach her.
“Wen Jiu—‘Wen’ with the three-dots water radical, and ‘Jiu’ also with the three-dots water radical,” she replied with a smile.
Before she could ask, Jiang Yanci directly sent over his name.
“Jiang Yanci.”
Looking at those three characters, Wen Jiu’s gaze paused for a moment before returning to normal.
Seeing that the two had already added each other, Qi Qin chimed in, “Add me too!”
“But I’m definitely not as good at dice as you are. How about we give you free drinks every time you come here?” he offered.
Wen Jiu shook her head. “How about just treating me to a meal instead?”
Judging from Qi Qin’s personality, she figured he was probably a foodie—so tagging along with him, she wouldn’t have to worry about a bad meal.
“Deal!” Qi Qin quickly agreed and added her, then proceeded to introduce himself. “I’m Qi Qin.”
“Hello.” Wen Jiu smiled at him, and Qi Qin was nearly dazzled by her smile.
He snapped out of it and sighed in admiration, “You’re honestly the most stunning girl I’ve ever seen—graceful, bold, radiant… so beautiful it’s almost impossible to look away.”
Qi Qin’s compliment wasn’t exaggerated. Even though Wen Jiu’s dice game, where she made people strip, seemed a little flamboyant, watching her in action somehow made it all feel natural.
Her boldness didn’t provoke annoyance; just one glance at her curved brows and smiling eyes made people feel like whatever she did was understandable—even forgivable.
“Thank you. You’re not bad yourself,” Wen Jiu replied sincerely. She wasn’t just being polite—although Qi Qin’s hairstyle was a bit messy, his features were quite attractive.
Especially his eyes—big, round, and deep like a galaxy shining within. His natural warmth and enthusiasm made him very approachable.
And it wasn’t just him—even the one in their group who had barely spoken to Wen Jiu, with his cold and sharp features, had an equally impressive appearance and presence.
“Are you here in Gangcheng for a vacation?” Qi Qin asked curiously.
It wasn’t a strange question—there had been a growing number of mainlanders visiting Gangcheng in recent years.
Wen Jiu thought for a moment before replying, “You could say that, for now.”
“How long are you staying?” Qi Qin asked enthusiastically. He clearly took a liking to her personality.
Wen Jiu: “About a month, give or take.”
That was her current plan, but how long she’d actually stay would depend on her mood.
“That’s quite a while,” Qi Qin muttered, then asked, “Where are you staying?”
“Yuanzi!” Before he even finished his sentence, Jiang Yanci’s warning voice cut in.
Hearing his tone, Qi Qin suddenly realized his question was a bit abrupt. He quickly explained,
“Sorry! I didn’t mean anything by it—I just wanted to ask you out to hang out, nothing shady.”
“It’s okay.”
Whether Qi Qin had bad intentions or not, Wen Jiu couldn’t be sure—but she wasn’t the type to casually reveal where she lived anyway.
She glanced at her phone. “If there’s anything, just message me.”
“Then it’s settled. Don’t forget to give me some face and show up when I invite you.”
“Alright.” Wen Jiu nodded, checked the time, then stood up and said,
“I’m heading back to rest. See you next time.”
“Alright,” Qi Qin agreed, but Jiang Yanci added, “Tomorrow, should I come pick you up?”
Wen Jiu raised an eyebrow—pick her up for what?
Jiang Yanci countered, “Aren’t you learning how to roll dice?”
Wen Jiu chuckled. So that’s what he meant. She waved her hand dismissively. “Wait till I ask you.”
With that, she turned and strode off, not caring about anyone’s reaction.
“This girl’s got quite the wild streak,” Ning Wang finally commented once she was far enough away.
Seeing Jiang Yanci’s thoughtful expression, he asked, “You’re interested?”
Jiang Yanci rubbed his slightly throbbing temples—he’d been so busy these past two days that he barely touched the ground. He hadn’t gotten any proper rest.
“She’s not interested in me,” Jiang Yanci said, his voice laced with fatigue.
Ning Wang didn’t comment, but gave Qi Qin a glance. “Looks like she’s warmer toward you than him.”
“Huh?” Qi Qin was in the middle of scrolling through Wen Jiu’s social media when he heard that and he chuckled. “But… maybe it’s true.”
Wen Jiu was definitely nicer to him than to Jiang Yanci.
“Scram!” Jiang Yanci couldn’t stand the smug look on Qi Qin’s face. He raised his foot and gave him a not-too-gentle kick to the knee.
Qi Qin pretended to be seriously injured, limping over to sit beside Jiang Yanci, then turned his phone screen toward him, showing Wen Jiu’s recent post on her Moments feed.
With a cryptic tone, he said, “She just posted this.”
