What Childhood Sweetheart? The Abstinent Powerholder Is Irresistibly Flirtatious Chapter 4

Chapter 4: Blocked

[Even mutual affection can be called a third wheel by you guys. Wen Jiu’s temper is something that ordinary people can’t handle… I don’t even know what you guys are barking about?]

[Heh, first time seeing such a huge pile of shit, really a bit excited, sorry, sorry.]

[The person above is a bit harsh…]

The comment section on the campus website had already exploded, yet Wen Jiu’s Moments remained spotless.

The most frequent comment was:

[Senior / Young Lady, this old servant has been waiting for this opportunity for far too long, please allow me to serve.]

Whether they were related to Wen Jiu or not, the comments were all the same.

Wen Jiu casually glanced at the messages on her Moments and smiled knowingly.

None of them mentioned Jian Yue.

Her world wasn’t just about Jian Yue, it was about all the colors in life.

She exhaled and walked out of the incredibly familiar coffee shop. Afterward, she made a call to her cousin abroad.

“Jiu Jiu, how come you have time to call me?” Wen Xingyu immediately paused the meeting he was in when he received Wen Jiu’s call, softening his tone.

The people in the office had long since gotten used to this.

After all, as the only daughter of the Wen family, Wen Jiu’s special status had become something they were all accustomed to.

In fact, to protect Wen Jiu, the Wen family had sent her back to China, the safest country, and in recent years, had begun transferring the Wen family assets back to the country.

So, stopping the meeting wasn’t something they dealt with often, but it wasn’t exactly surprising either.

Wen Jiu, driving her car and facing the sunlight outside the garage, slowly exhaled a breath of stale air before answering Wen Xingyu.

“I broke up.”

She started with a bombshell of a sentence. Wen Xingyu’s face immediately changed, and the warm expression he had just worn darkened in an instant.

The people in the office exchanged glances, quickly lowering their heads and holding their breath.

As employees of the Wen family, it was a basic requirement to understand Chinese, so everyone in the room could understand the conversation between the siblings.

Wen Xingyu suppressed his anger, stood up, and left the meeting room. When he entered the office, he couldn’t hold back and kicked the conference table with a forceful kick.

“Damn!”

He cursed under his breath and then asked with concern, “Did you cry?”

Wen Jiu naturally replied with an “Mm,” before adding, “After four years, not crying would be abnormal.”

“You’ve stayed at home for fifteen years. Besides crying when you were little, when was the last time you shed a tear?” Wen Xingyu’s heart twisted with pain, but he only murmured it softly before saying:

“This matter, You can’t hide it from Uncle and Aunt.”

Wen Jiu pressed her lips together. “I wasn’t planning on hiding it from them.”

Wen Xingyu sighed. Knowing the temper of Wen Jiu’s parents, he figured that once they found out their precious daughter had suffered such a blow, she probably wouldn’t be able to stay abroad for even a single day.

He rubbed his temples. “Alright, tell me, why did you call me?”

Wen Jiu let out a soft “Hehe” and smiled. “I’ll graduate in a month, and after graduation, I don’t want to stay in Beijing anymore.”

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to stay because of Jian Yue, but after being in Beijing for so many years, she had grown tired of it and wanted to go somewhere else.

Wen Xingyu asked, “Where do you want to go?”

Wen Jiu chuckled lightly. “Gangcheng. Doesn’t my brother have a branch office there? It just so happens that I’ll have something to do there too, how about it?”

“The area…” Wen Xingyu furrowed his brows.

Though Gangcheng’s public safety had improved significantly in recent years, the place was still quite xenophobic, and Wen Jiu might not be comfortable staying there.

Before Wen Xingyu had a chance to think it through, Wen Jiu began her act of coaxing.

“If you don’t let me go, I’ll stop eating for three days.”

Wen Xingyu: “……”

“Little ancestor, are you ever tired of using this trick?”

“Ah.” Wen Jiu, with her sense of righteousness, responded confidently.

Wen Xingyu truly had no way to deal with her.

After all, she was the little girl he had watched grow up, and she had become quite skilled at using her charms. She could easily handle both the elders and younger members of the Wen family.

If he didn’t go along with her, he knew she’d find some other clever way to play her tricks.

After a moment of thought, Wen Xingyu finally nodded.

“I’ll have someone arrange your accommodations. As for Uncle and Aunt, you’ll have to handle that yourself.”

Wen Sheng and his wife had hoped that Wen Jiu would settle in Beijing, and now that she was planning to go to such a big place like Gangcheng, Wen Xingyu didn’t dare take the responsibility for that.

Fortunately, Wen Jiu was fearless. After agreeing, she hung up the phone and immediately headed to the airport.

Although she still had a month until graduation, everything required for her finance degree was already completed. Now, she just had to wait for the graduation ceremony and to collect her diploma from the university.

So, for Wen Jiu, this month was all free time.

Since she had decided to stay in Gangcheng for a while, she decided to experience the local culture now.

As for clothes and luggage, she would buy them once she got there.

She sent a message to Aunt Zhao to arrange for someone to drive the car back to the villa, and after confirming her directions, Wen Jiu turned off her phone and happily boarded the plane.

As for Jian Yue, who had just rushed to the coffee shop, Wen Jiu hardly thought of him during this time.

Even when his figure occasionally appeared in her mind, she quickly swatted him out of her thoughts.

Three hours after Wen Jiu boarded the plane, Jian Yue had settled Lin Anlan and immediately left the hospital.

What he hadn’t expected, however, was receiving the news that Wen Jiu had announced she was single.

With a sense of suspicion, he opened Wen Jiu’s Moments, but all he saw was a horizontal line.

Jian Yue froze.

Had Wen Jiu blocked him or deleted him?

The thought crossed his mind, and in that instant, Jian Yue’s heart almost stopped beating.

In a panic, he dialed Wen Jiu’s number, but all he heard was the cold, mechanical voice repeating, “The number you have dialed is not reachable.”

Jian Yue didn’t know what state he was in right now. He just felt that at the moment he couldn’t get in touch with Wen Jiu, the world seemed to flip upside down, and everything in front of him lost its color.

All that remained was a sense of panic pressing down on his chest.

Clinging to the last shred of hope, he arrived at the address Wen Jiu had sent him, looking around desperately, hoping to catch a glimpse of her.

But there was no sign of her…

People came and went, but Wen Jiu was nowhere to be found.

This coffee shop was the one Jian Yue had specifically chosen for Wen Jiu. It was also the place where they most often met.

He gazed at the familiar surroundings, as if every table was filled with memories of Wen Jiu and him, laughing and talking during their dates.

But in the blink of an eye, everything disappeared.

Jian Yue found the staff, trying to stay calm as he asked, “Where is A-Jiu?”

“Miss Wen sat here for two hours before leaving. She didn’t order anything.”

The staff, who obviously knew both their boss and future boss, answered truthfully when Jian Yue inquired.

A sharp pang hit Jian Yue’s chest as he pressed on, “When did she leave?”

“Hmmmm…” The staff member frowned, then replied, “Probably around 10:30…”

10:30… Jian Yue lowered his head to look at his phone. Wen Jiu had sent him a message at 9:30.

So, Wen Jiu had arrived at the agreed time and waited for him for an entire hour.

What had Wen Jiu been thinking during that hour? What decision had she made, to not try to contact him again during the time he failed to show up?
