Chapter 101: Good People Get Rewarded
Chen Lu just returned to the studio and saw that everyone had already cleaned up.
Perhaps because everyone was around the same age and the environment was comfortable, most people felt a sense of belonging.
They were more proactive in their work.
Chen Lu cleared his throat, “Everyone, sit down, let’s discuss some things.”
He walked over to Liang Zhirou and saw a slight smile on the girl’s lips after she finished her drink.
“Let’s talk about the follow-up work procedures.” He looked up at everyone, his voice loud.
“For the next period of time, Lin Miaomiao will be leading the art team, and Peng Leyun will be in charge of programming.”
“As for music, it’s not something we need to worry about right now, we can just outsource it.”
“Senior, what about the summer vacation? Do I need to apply to stay on campus?” Peng Leyun asked, his family was from out of town and he had already prepared to rent a place to stay here.
He was a talented and passionate individual, which was the main reason Chen Lu decided to put him in charge.
“You can go home and work online during the summer vacation, it’s fine, your salary will be paid as usual.”
“But…”
Chen Lu suddenly emphasized again.
“Everyone who came early knows this, I don’t really care about attendance, you can be late, leave early, or even work in your own dorm, I’ve never cared.”
“But the tasks assigned must be completed on time.”
His expression turned serious.
“The programming team must have the framework built by July, the workload is assigned to each person, those who don’t finish will just get their salary and leave.”
Because this game wasn’t complicated to make, in Chen Lu’s plan, they must have a playable version by the end of August at the latest.
That was the real challenge.
Then they would need a series of operations to achieve profitability.
If they didn’t perform well this time, it would be difficult to get the school to approve the funding.
“So that’s it, our company doesn’t provide meals for now, I’m going to leave now.”
Chen Lu returned to his usual tone and took Liang Zhirou’s hand as he walked out.
“Senior is so easygoing… why is he so strict now?” A girl sitting next to Lin Miaomiao mumbled softly.
Seeing Chen Lu, who was usually so gentle, speaking like this, she felt a little uncomfortable.
“Get used to it, it’s business as usual.” Lin Miaomiao was drawing illustrations and shrugged with a smile, “As long as you complete your tasks on time, even if you sit in his office and play games in front of him, he won’t care.”
The girl looked at her in disbelief, feeling that Lin Miaomiao was too confident, she couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Miaomiao, have you done that?”
“Yeah.”
……
The two got into the car, and Chen Lu, as usual, helped Liang Zhirou fasten her seatbelt.
“Hey, by the way, are you going back home for the summer vacation?” Chen Lu asked suddenly.
He remembered that Liang Zhirou’s hometown wasn’t in Yu Hang Province, if this silly girl went back home, wouldn’t he be miserable for the whole summer?
It would be better to kill him than to separate a couple in love for two months.
Liang Zhirou adjusted the position of her seatbelt so that it wouldn’t be so tight, then shook her head, “No, and that’s not really home anymore…”
After her father passed away, she had been traveling with her mother, and since she could remember, she hadn’t lived in her hometown for a few years.
“What do you mean?” Chen Lu felt strange.
“There’s no place to live, the house was taken by my uncle’s family.”
Liang Zhirou described it in a very calm tone, without any sadness or joy.
“After my father died, my grandfather and uncle said my mother was a jinx and couldn’t give birth to a son, so they wanted to kick her out and not let her live in the house.”
“They wanted to keep me, though. Don’t think I’m not smart, I’m worth thousands.”
“They just wanted to marry me off later to earn some money. My mother found out and took a knife to fight them, so she took me away from home.”
Chen Lu was silent for a long time, completely unable to imagine that such a thing could happen in the 21st century.
Especially when it happened to his girlfriend, his mood became even more complicated.
He really couldn’t imagine how Liang Zhirou had survived all these years.
“The bubble machine you gave me was broken by my uncle’s son,” Liang Zhirou finally became a little wronged. “He said he hadn’t seen it before and asked me to lend it to him. I didn’t want to, so he just snatched it away.”
“When he gave it back, it was already broken.”
She looked up at Chen Lu, her clear, watery eyes veiled with a thin layer of mist. “And then I only had that photo on my mother’s phone…”
Chen Lu stroked the girl’s cheek with a lot of heartache, wanting to say something, but suddenly became speechless.
After a while, he said softly, “I don’t know how you can still be so honest after going through all this. You should be worse than them.”
He always felt that if it were him, he would have been saying ‘it’s not my fault, it’s the world’s fault’ every day, and then doing evil things.
The girl stared at him blankly, “Mom said to be a good person, good people get rewarded.”
Chen Lu sighed helplessly and disdainfully, “Good people get rewarded is just a lie made up by bad people to deceive you good people.”
Why else would you still be so miserable?
You should be the happiest person in the world.
“It’s true, good people do get rewarded,” Liang Zhirou rarely refuted him seriously.
Under Chen Lu’s puzzled gaze, the girl suddenly raised the corner of her mouth, her smile sweet, warming his heart.
“Otherwise, how could I have met you?”
Chen Lu twitched his lips and pinched the girl’s face with a smile, “Okay, okay, you’re right.”
“Can I hug you?”
Liang Zhirou suddenly asked in a small voice, even though it had been a long time, she still couldn’t help but feel a little sad when she thought about what happened before.
“Of course.” Chen Lu thought this silly girl was so cute, “I suggest you don’t ask in the future, just hug.”
“Oh…”
The girl responded with some embarrassment, unfastened her seatbelt and was about to get out of the car.
“What are you doing?” Chen Lu asked.
“Get out of the car to hug you,” Liang Zhirou said matter-of-factly.
Chen Lu frowned, “Can’t you hug in the car?”
Hearing this, the girl got back into the car and looked at him curiously.
Then she quietly leaned towards him, still feeling a little awkward.
“Come over here,” Chen Lu said softly.
After hearing this, Liang Zhirou clumsily crossed over from the handbrake side and squeezed next to Chen Lu.
Chen Lu immediately felt something was wrong.
It seemed a little too exciting, he couldn’t hold back…
Before he could recover, the soft girl hugged him, as if there was a soft kitten between them.
A few seconds later, with a soft whimper from Liang Zhirou, Chen Lu slowly buried his face in the girl’s snow-white neck…
