Chapter 106: How to Be a Good Girlfriend
“Is there really such a thing?” Chen Lu, playing around, followed behind the girl like a silly roe deer.
Both of them walked lightly, clearly savoring the moment.
At first, Liang Zhirou was a little afraid. She worried that Chen Lu would regret coming here or wouldn’t like to hear her talk about her childhood.
Fortunately, so far, Chen Lu seemed to love this place and was always in high spirits.
As for whether he liked the place or being with her, the girl didn’t dare to conclude.
She was generally lacking in confidence, but seeing Chen Lu looking around with curiosity, she put the question aside.
As long as Chen Lu was happy, nothing else mattered.
Looking at the lush greenery around, Chen Lu had a moment of thought that living here might be pretty good.
Then, thinking about the lack of delivery services and the possibility of various insects, he quickly dismissed the idea.
Soon, he followed Liang Zhirou to a lake surrounded by mountains. It was even quieter here, with a cool breeze blowing from time to time.
Across the lake was a small village, everything seemed peaceful and serene.
“What a beautiful place,” Chen Lu sat on a large rock, sighing from the heart.
“Do you really like this kind of place?”
Liang Zhirou sat beside Chen Lu, her head resting on his shoulder. She felt like Chen Lu seemed to like all sorts of lakes and seas.
Now, Chen Lu felt more like he was on vacation.
“How do you know?” he asked curiously.
“When you were in the pavilion at school, you would often look at the lake next to it,” Liang Zhirou’s tone was a little proud, sounding cute and silly. “You can always look at it quietly for a long time.”
She would also watch him quietly from the side.
Chen Lu gently embraced the girl with a smile, stroking her soft long hair, and said softly, “You’re not so silly sometimes.”
Liang Zhirou didn’t care whether Chen Lu was teasing her or not, she was very happy to be praised, snuggling in his arms like a cat.
“I used to stay here for half a day when I was a kid. The bracelet I gave you was made while sitting here.”
Chen Lu nodded slightly, “Did you ever think about sitting here with your boyfriend in the future when you were a kid?”
“I did.”
Liang Zhirou took his hand, which was rare for her to do proactively. “When I was a kid, I thought that when I had a boyfriend, I would bring him to my favorite place to have a look. After all, I never had many friends, and this is where I spent the most time alone.”
“It’s just…”
“Just what?” Chen Lu looked down at the girl in his arms and asked curiously.
Liang Zhirou buried her face in his clothes with a little embarrassment, “It’s just that I didn’t expect my boyfriend to be so good.”
“Silly is silly,” Chen Lu laughed and poked the girl’s cheek.
He looked up at the village in the distance, “Did you live there back then?”
“Yes, I might have to stay here tonight,” Liang Zhirou glanced back slightly, then turned her attention back to Chen Lu. “Grandma will give us a place to stay, we just won’t talk to anyone else.”
Chen Lu was speechless for a moment, vaguely imagining the scenes of Liang Zhirou returning alone in the past few years.
“Don’t you like it there?”
Liang Zhirou nodded in his arms, “I don’t like them.”
“Then we’ll leave when we’re done, we won’t stay here.” He gently stroked the girl in his arms, the more he looked at her, the more he felt Liang Zhirou must have been a cat in her previous life.
Anyone would like a girl who’s sweet and obedient, easy to pet.
The girl looked up at him in surprise, “You’ll be tired…”
Before she could finish, she saw Chen Lu place his index finger on his lips, smiling at her, “Why do you think I insisted on accompanying you here?”
He squinted his eyes, looking at the small mountain village in the distance, lost in thought, “You said it yourself, this isn’t your home. Every year, I’ll specifically send you here, and you won’t need to have any contact with them anymore.”
“It’s not a good thing for them to see me with you. You can’t let them know you’re doing well, and you don’t need to let them know.”
These short-sighted relatives who only care about their own interests are best kept at a distance.
For now, let’s not even consider the possibility that Liang Zhirou might become a rich woman in the future. If these people cling to her, it will be a hassle.
It’s better to cut off contact from now on. They don’t care about the lives of Xiao Xunfang and Liang Zhirou anyway.
The bond of blood only has value when both parties are willing to give. When one party only wants to take, it becomes a “umbilical cord” that sucks the other party’s nourishment, useless.
He looked silently at the girl in his arms, who seemed to understand, “Anyway, I don’t need their consent to marry you, as long as Aunt agrees.”
“Hmm…”
After a long time, Liang Zhirou hugged Chen Lu’s waist tightly, her voice like a mosquito, “Hmm.”
…
“How much do you remember about your father?”
Chen Lu walked alongside Liang Zhirou, asking softly.
“I remember quite a lot.” Liang Zhirou recalled seriously. The thing she remembered most vividly was her father’s look at her.
Before that, she couldn’t believe that a human’s eyes could contain so many emotions at the same time.
Love, longing, unwillingness, deep concern, and…
Fear.
That was the last time she saw her father. After he was covered with a white cloth, Xiao Xunfang wouldn’t let her see him no matter what.
“When I was little, Dad often went out to work, but every time he came back, he would bring me a lot of delicious food and little dresses.”
Liang Zhirou smiled slightly, speaking softly.
“I didn’t know how much these things cost at the time. But I knew that none of the other children in the village had them, and neither did the children of those who went out to work with Dad. Only Dad was willing to buy these things.”
“Mom would always say he was wasting money, and then sigh while praising me for looking good in the dresses.”
She paused, then gently held Chen Lu’s arm.
Liang Zhirou had only been bought dresses by two people in her life. Besides her father, it was only Chen Lu.
So when she first wore the dress Chen Lu bought for her, she held back tears for a long time.
“He would definitely have gotten along with you… if he were still here.” Liang Zhirou said earnestly, “Dad would have liked you just like Mom.”
“If you want to cry, cry. I’m here.” Chen Lu touched the girl’s head, he could hear her voice trembling.
“Your boyfriend is here to wipe your tears for free. You won’t find this deal anywhere else.”
“No, only crying won’t make a good girlfriend.” Liang Zhirou hugged Chen Lu’s arm even tighter.
“I want to become stronger, so I can be your support in the future.”
