Chapter 136: There’s a Mole, End the Deal
Jiang Chao finally reacted, “Damn! There’s a mole!”
He had never thought that the kind of company internal information leaks that happened in TV dramas would actually happen to him.
He immediately turned his gaze to Chen Lu, “What should we do?”
Chen Lu almost sprayed the drink in his mouth, sarcastically saying, “Why are you like Liu Bang? You just say ‘what can I do’ when you encounter something?”
Seeing the other party’s seemingly clear and foolish eyes, he slowly spoke again: “It’s not a big problem. Once or twice is fine, but if they really want to fleece us, I’ll make them spit it all out.”
Jiang Chao spun the lighter in his hand, dejectedly saying, “I just can’t swallow this.”
“You need to change your thinking, different periods have different goals. Now all we can do is protect our own little patch of land, and we’ll take it slowly in the future.”
Chen Lu said, flipping out a video of a top-tier up playing their game for him to watch, “It won’t be long.”
The current spread of this game far exceeded everyone’s imagination. It’s just that in the internet age, once traffic explodes, it grows exponentially, even more exaggerated than ten people telling ten people.
Internet celebrities and hot memes can become popular overnight, and so can games.
How long it can be maintained is another story, but at least for a while, the game’s revenue will be something that everyone in the company has never imagined.
“I was too hasty.” Jiang Chao finally calmed down. He really couldn’t figure out how Chen Lu could remain so calm in the face of everything.
When he first saw this, he didn’t know how long his brain overloaded, and he wasn’t as composed as Chen Lu.
This once again confirmed what he had realized when he first became acquainted with Chen Lu – this guy can do anything and succeed.
Chen Lu shrugged, “So, first try to make up with your girlfriend. The company is making money lying down as long as it’s developing steadily, why can’t you have both love and career?”
“What about the mole?” Jiang Chao asked.
Chen Lu was still indifferent, “I said, I’ll give him this one chance.”
“Once we get bigger, they won’t be able to access the core. Don’t worry too much about it. Just give Peng Leyun a hint, if he can find it, let him find it, if he can’t, then forget it. Don’t waste time on it.”
The art team doesn’t have access to this, the problem can only be in the programming team.
After a while of observation, apart from Peng Leyun, there wasn’t a single person in the entire programming team that satisfied him.
The art team members can all be promoted to a higher level in the future, but the programming team can’t. They can’t meet the business needs, so it seems that this aspect still needs to be entrusted to experienced people.
This is the root cause of why Chen Lu doesn’t care at all about the mole appearing in the programming team.
Although he seems to be slacking off every day, Chen Lu actually knows everything that’s going on in the company.
“That’s really disgusting.” Jiang Chao sighed softly.
“That fly in the ointment is in someone else’s pot, why are you disgusted? Why don’t you put your energy into the upcoming huge traffic, if the reputation can’t be stabilized, you’ll have nowhere to cry.”
Jiang Chao suddenly understood. Their company currently isn’t worth someone setting up a mole, and once the other side’s game goes online, they might use this as a stepping stone to jump ship.
A smart company wouldn’t want this kind of person, but judging from the other party’s lack of vision… the leader of that studio isn’t smart.
“They all signed confidentiality agreements!” Jiang Chao became more and more excited. A law student opening a company has this advantage.
Chen Lu said calmly, “Put it aside for now, we can’t win against them now.”
This is reality. Although the other party is currently just a studio, they are backed by a company that can easily throw in tens of millions of dollars without batting an eye. They have an advantage in lawsuits.
This kind of scale can involve a lot of things. If they bite down and say it’s a coincidence that the ideas collided, your small company won’t have any leverage.
Otherwise, a certain “Mountain Must Win” restaurant wouldn’t be winning lawsuits all the time.
This matter can either be ignored, or it can be brought up again when the scale is similar, to settle old scores. There’s no other way. Thinking about this, it’s really not worth it to spend time making money.
However, what Jiang Chao didn’t expect was that Chen Lu was indeed going to bring this up later…
But it wasn’t for revenge, but for blackmail.
By then, the outcome of the lawsuit wouldn’t matter anymore, the traffic brought by this event would definitely be considerable.
Bringing this up now is like a mayfly shaking a tree, no one cares if your small studio is being bullied. When your scale and fame are higher in the future, doing this will have value.
After all, the other party took the first step, so don’t blame him for taking advantage of the hype.
Jiang Chao paused again and whispered, “Should we split the revenue 60-40? I feel like I don’t deserve to split evenly with you…”
“It’s not like that, you’re your dad’s laborer. You actually do more than me, otherwise how would your dad have so much time to date?”
Jiang Chao greeted him with a friendly word and then went out, closing the door behind him.
What kind of love were they talking about? They hadn’t even had a fight?
……
Noon.
Chen Lu was about to leave when he received a video call from Liang Zhirou.
He looked bewildered as he clicked to answer, and saw the girl’s pure and beautiful face.
Her eyes blinked, a faint smile on her lips, looking a little surprised and happy. She stared at him, then quickly hid half her face in the pillow, revealing only her clear eyes.
Chen Lu asked with a chuckle, “What’s up?”
He was a little surprised that this silly girl was calling him on video.
“This is the first time we’ve video called…” she said softly.
“It is, I didn’t think about it before.”
“It feels good.”
She really liked it this way, so she could look at him properly, see his smile, see his eyes, as if Chen Lu was really in front of her.
This function she hadn’t used much suddenly had a new meaning.
She had prepared herself mentally for a long time before calling, but now she wasn’t so nervous.
After all, Chen Lu was her boyfriend.
“I haven’t gotten ugly on my phone, have I?” Liang Zhirou asked softly.
“No, but the phone screen can’t fully show how beautiful my girlfriend is.”
“You’re talking nonsense again…”
The girl pouted and lightly chided, suppressing her smile and then asked, “Are you coming back for lunch? What do you want to eat?”
Chen Lu looked up, “I’ll just grab something myself, school hasn’t started yet, don’t go out of your way.”
Suddenly, Liang Zhirou on the video turned over, the background changing from the ceiling to her room in the rented apartment.
“But I’m already here,” the girl said playfully.
“You can do that? You’ve learned to strike first and then ask for forgiveness,” Chen Lu quickly stood up, “Let’s see how I deal with you when I get back.”
Damn, this silly girl seems to have really learned from me.
For commuting and for Liang Zhirou’s convenience in getting to and from school, Chen Lu had deliberately rented a house very close to the school, just a few minutes’ walk from the school gate.
It was close to the Qixi Festival, and there were many flower stalls along the way, you could see one every now and then.
Looking at the flowers of various colors, Chen Lu slowly stopped.
He suddenly wanted to slap himself.
Liang Zhirou being silly was one thing, but how come he had also become silly after being with her for so long?
From the time they met until now, he hadn’t given Liang Zhirou a single flower.
He had originally planned to give her one on the night he confessed, but he hadn’t had time to buy one before that silly girl beat him to it.
How come he had forgotten about it afterwards?
“I’m such an idiot.”
Chen Lu muttered to himself.
Even if Liang Zhirou might not like it very much, other people’s girlfriends had them, so she should have them too.
This was also part of his plan to teach her to enjoy life.
A qualified frog-boiling master must learn to give himself “mental imprints.”
With this in mind, he specially went to buy a large bouquet.
