Chapter 26: Phone Accident
Liang Zhirou recalled the lively girl she met that afternoon, and the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.
She couldn’t handle this type of personality at all.
“Do you want to teach your younger sister? What grade is she in?” she asked softly.
“Yeah, my younger sister, she’s in the second year of high school.”
“Your younger sister…”
Hearing this, the girl felt inexplicably happy and her mood brightened.
“Why don’t you teach her yourself… You’re so good at it,” she continued to ask.
These words made Chen Lu feel a surge of joy.
No boy could resist a girl complimenting him.
Without exception!
“Keep complimenting me, if you can compliment me, then compliment me more,” Chen Lu’s lips almost reached his ears, “Am I really that good?”
“You are really good… You know so much,” Liang Zhirou mumbled, “And you do everything with a… effortless feeling, which makes people want to ask for your help.”
After the girl finished speaking, she secretly pursed her lips. She didn’t dare say that he was handsome, she was stunned when they looked at each other that night, and it wasn’t just Chen Lu…
“Is that so?” Chen Lu didn’t deny it, he looked at her with a mischievous smile, “I didn’t expect you to have such a good impression of me.”
Liang Zhirou nodded lightly. In fact, her impression of Chen Lu was a hundred times better than that in her heart.
Just then, Lin Miaomiao’s call came again.
“Where are you guys playing? Tell me! I’m going to get sick at home!”
This clearly showed that she was coming to gossip, not even pretending.
“Hello?
What are you saying? Hello? I have a bad signal here, I’ll hang up!”
Chen Lu pressed the hang-up button and put the phone aside.
It rang again after a while.
Chen Lu didn’t even look at it and handed it to Liang Zhirou, “It’s Lin Miaomiao calling, here you go, I’m going to the bathroom.”
Watching Chen Lu leave, the girl subconsciously pressed the answer button, “Hello?”
“Chen Lu, your sister said you ran out without her…” Wang Xiaoxia’s voice came from the other end, and when she heard the voice on the other end of the phone, she paused, “Hmm? Who is this?”
Liang Zhirou quickly covered her mouth, glanced at the caller ID, and found that it was Chen Lu’s mother. At this moment, she was completely stunned, feeling like her heart was about to jump out of her chest.
She was even more nervous talking to Chen Lu’s mother than talking to Chen Lu.
She was terrified and wanted to hang up the phone, but then she thought that this would leave a bad impression on Wang Xiaoxia, so she could only endure her inner anxiety and put the phone to her ear.
“Who is this?” Wang Xiaoxia asked in confusion. She could hear the girl’s slightly rapid breathing due to nervousness, so her tone was gentler.
Liang Zhirou’s mouth opened and closed, but she couldn’t utter a word.
“Can you hear me?” the other end asked again.
“Ah…” Liang Zhirou finally squeezed out a sound from her throat, cautiously responding, “I can hear you…”
Wang Xiaoxia finally heard the girl’s voice, soft and sweet.
She was quite experienced in this area, and she could guess Liang Zhirou’s personality based on her voice and tone.
She must be an honest girl.
This Chen Lu is up to no good.
“Who are you?” Wang Xiaoxia was also cautious, afraid of scaring the child, “Is Chen Lu not there?”
“A-aunt hello… My name is Liang Zhirou…” Liang Zhirou took another deep breath, these few seconds felt like an eternity, “I’m Chen Lu’s friend.”
“He went to the bathroom… He hasn’t come back yet.”
She tightly grasped the hem of her clothes, so nervous that her voice was slightly trembling.
Finally, after stumbling through these words, Liang Zhirou felt like her heart was still pounding, and she almost couldn’t catch her breath.
She was already shy, and the thought that this was Chen Lu’s mother made her even more nervous. She was afraid that she might do something wrong and make the other party unhappy.
Wang Xiaoxia smiled, completely losing the tone of accusing Chen Lu she had at the beginning, and said, “You’re Xiaolu’s friend, what a beautiful name.”
Liang Zhirou couldn’t imagine that Wang Xiaoxia was also nervous. This was the first time she had chatted with a girl Chen Lu knew.
Mo Yuqing didn’t count, she had known that girl since she was little, they were too close.
“Thank you, aunt…” Liang Zhirou leaned on the table, her voice sinking into the dust.
“Aunt won’t disturb you guys anymore, I just wanted to chat with Xiaolu, nothing important.”
“Okay…”
Liang Zhirou quietly waited for the other party to hang up the phone first. When she heard the hang-up sound, she took a deep breath and felt like she finally came back to life.
When Chen Lu came back, he saw Liang Zhirou with red eyes, looking up at him with a look of grievance.
He was startled and quickly sat down beside her, asking, “What’s wrong?”
The girl pointed to the phone, “That call just now… It was your mom…”
“Look at you, I thought it was something serious…” Chen Lu paused for a moment, “What? My mom?!”
Liang Zhirou nodded, still recalling whether she had said anything wrong.
“What did you guys talk about?” Chen Lu was still not calm. Although he wanted to ask Liang Zhirou to be a tutor, he had to introduce her to his parents, but now…
The situation was different.
Introducing her proactively and being caught checking up on her were completely different things.
After listening to Liang Zhirou’s detailed recount, Chen Lu felt slightly relieved.
“Your flyer job is paid daily, right?” he asked.
“Yeah.” The girl’s voice was still trembling, clearly not recovered yet.
This was too stimulating for her.
“Then you can rest for two days, just prepare your lessons.”
“Okay.”
Chen Lu rested his chin on his hand and looked at the girl with a red face like a small tomato, continuing to instruct, “I just have a feeling you won’t listen, Liang Zhirou, you have to prioritize things, you can earn your daily wage in one hour once you teach well.”
He looked serious, “You won’t have to hand out flyers then, it’s really tiring.
When you get more experienced with tutoring, I can find you other jobs, and then you don’t have to work at the hotpot restaurant, so that no one will bully you when I’m not around.”
Liang Zhirou was simple but she could hear the sincerity and concern in Chen Lu’s tone, especially the last sentence, which pierced through her heart.
The mist in her eyes couldn’t be stopped, until her vision became completely blurred.
For the first time, she realized that having someone care about her and want to protect her was such a happy thing.
So happy that tears rolled down her cheeks, slowly forming lines.
In the air, they transformed into fragile and precious gems, and when they fell to the ground, they turned into water flowers.
Liang Zhirou had encountered countless people who bullied her since she was little.
But the person who worried about her being bullied and wanted to protect her, only appeared now…
