Chapter 31: A Stroke of Luck
The next morning, Chen Lu returned to school and met Liang Zhirou at the drama club, enjoying his own special breakfast.
Chen Lu suddenly realized that he had been seeing this silly girl more and more recently.
He felt pretty good about it.
But unlike usual, Lin Miaomiao was also there.
“The second I got home, my mom wanted to throw me out! What kind of person is she?!” Lin Miaomiao complained angrily. “Before May Day, she practically called me every day to urge me to go back.
Then I went back obediently, and she still looked at me with disdain! If I looked at my phone, she’d say I just knew how to look at my phone, if I watched TV, she’d say I just knew how to watch TV.
I thought I could at least do some chores, but then she complained that I didn’t sweep the floor clean!
It really pissed me off!
You guys just watch, before summer vacation she’ll be saying how much she misses me. Then she’ll keep asking me when I’m coming home, and after I go back, she’ll continue to scold me, over and over again…”
Chen Lu quietly sipped his porridge, listening to her complaints.
Liang Zhirou didn’t know how to comfort her either, so she could only gently hold her hand.
“Come on, you’re just getting started.” Chen Lu finished his porridge and looked at her with disdain.
Lin Miaomiao glared at him, thinking, “How can this guy be so heartless? There’s no one in the world who’s more miserable than me, okay?”
Just then, Chen Lu, with the air of a senior, slowly opened his mouth: “This is the family status of college students, you’ll get used to it.
Before May Day, my mom also nagged me a lot, and I went home with a big smile on my face that morning.
Then I saw my parents packing their bags ready to go on a trip.”
He then clapped his hands twice, then slowly spread them out, “They didn’t bring me.”
Lin Miaomiao burst out laughing, and Liang Zhirou stared at him in a daze.
She obviously didn’t expect this kind of operation.
“The sadness didn’t disappear from me, it just transferred to your face.” Lin Miaomiao said with a laugh. Seeing someone more miserable than herself, she immediately felt a lot happier.
Sure enough, happiness is still built on the pain of others.
As she laughed, she saw Chen Lu extend his right hand towards Liang Zhirou, his expression sincere as he whispered, “I need comfort too, so can you hold my hand?”
Slap!
Before Liang Zhirou could speak, Lin Miaomiao slapped his hand away.
Liang Zhirou watched as Chen Lu, who was in pain, frantically shook his hand, and she pursed her lips slightly.
Lin Miaomiao naturally saw her actions and was shocked, “Whoa! You wouldn’t be feeling sorry for him, would you?!”
She turned to Chen Lu again, “You’ve been feeding my Zhirou some kind of love potion?! She’s mine! You can’t do this!”
Chen Lu shrugged, “I advise you not to meddle in other people’s business.”
“You two lovebirds! You’re making me so mad!”
After staying for a while, Chen Lu went to class.
The school was very “humanistic” in arranging entrepreneurship courses for third-year students.
There were lectures, group projects, and it seemed like they even had to give presentations in the end.
They said it was all voluntary, but you couldn’t be absent.
It was very abstract.
……
In the evening, as night gradually enveloped the surroundings, the hot air became slightly cooler.
As the weather got hotter, the chaotic chirping of insects also became more frequent.
It made people’s minds feel chaotic.
Chen Lu went to the drama club as usual for a while, and only returned to the dormitory after dark.
As soon as he entered the door, Li Sinian came over and muttered, “The boss is drunk.”
“Drunk? Why?” Chen Lu looked up and saw Jiang Chao lying on his back in the chair, looking completely lifeless.
Li Sinian sighed, “Why else? He’s talking about his dad forcing him to change his major again!”
This has always been a thorn in Jiang Chao’s side. His father, as the director, naturally wanted to pave the way for his future, and he naturally ignored what his son wanted to do.
“You’re a good guy, go comfort him.” Li Sinian continued to mutter softly.
Chen Lu shrugged, thinking, “How am I supposed to comfort him? Is it possible that I chose this major to chase Mo Yuqing?”
But he was bored and felt that Jiang Chao wasn’t serious, so he sat down and chatted with him.
“Boss, what do you want to do?” He asked with raised eyebrows, “What was your original dream?”
“I want to start a business! Make games!”
Chen Lu pretended to be serious and nodded, continuing to play with the drunk fool, “Games, compared to the ninth art, are first and foremost a commodity.
Since it’s a commodity, it has a market, have you researched the market?”
Jiang Chao listened intently, “I’m researching…”
“Actually, anyone who plays enough games knows, because domestic mobile games have a siphon effect. People in the industry don’t necessarily know any more than you.” Chen Lu chuckled lightly.
“You mean I should start with mobile games?” Jiang Chao sat up straight, becoming more and more spirited.
Chen Lu shook his head, “No, start with WeChat mini-games.
Whether it’s for your studio to practice when it’s just starting out, or to make your first pot of gold, it’s suitable.
The cycle is short, the return is fast, and most importantly, the investment required is low.
If you find it’s not suitable, you can disband without losing anything, if you find that the studio really has some potential, then you can go on to do other things later.”
“Then what kind of game should I make?” Jiang Chao continued to ask.
Chen Lu thought for a moment, “There’s one type of game that combines all the characteristics you need, it doesn’t require much investment, it doesn’t require a lot of work, as long as you’re confident you can make it fun.”
“What is it?”
Chen Lu opened a well-known game platform and pointed at the computer screen, “Roguelike.”
Jiang Chao, like Liu Bei listening to Zhuge Liang’s Longzhong Strategy, stared wide-eyed.
He suddenly grabbed Chen Lu’s arm.
“Chen Lu, you’re smart, everyone knows that.
You don’t need to put up any money, you don’t need to take any risks, just come, I’ll sell my car and then raise some more, and we’ll do this.
You’ll be the mastermind, the second-in-command!
Jiang Chao took another gulp of beer, “Anyway, my old man won’t say anything about me selling my car, just treat it as a trial with me, okay?
If we lose money, I’ll go back and listen to my dad’s arrangements.”
Seeing that Chen Lu didn’t say anything, he continued to persuade:
“You’ve seen The Wandering Earth, right? Guo Fan is my idol. I want to be like him and take a gamble.
He has his sci-fi dream, I want to make my games.”
Chen Lu was stunned, he obviously didn’t expect Jiang Chao to actually take it all in, he said helplessly, “Do you believe this or do you believe I’m Qin Shi Huang?”
He definitely couldn’t let Jiang Chao take it seriously, after all, this was just his understanding of the market.
Moreover, Jiang Chao’s idea was still a bit naive, not that he couldn’t chase his dreams, but that he couldn’t trust others too much, not to mention that he dared to bring in someone who might not invest to share the pie.
Even if that person was himself.
Someone else might just close their eyes and agree, after all, this is a risk-free investment, if you make money, it’s a windfall, even if Jiang Chao loses everything in the end, you can just walk away and pretend nothing happened.
But Chen Lu couldn’t do that, he was never that kind of person.
Seeing Jiang Chao still staring at him with bright eyes, Chen Lu felt a little helpless, “I’ll think about it, maybe you’ll change your mind when you sober up.”
Jiang Chao finally let go of his arm.
Chen Lu looked at the enthusiastic Jiang Chao, feeling a little strange, actually, a simple life of two points and a line was a good life for him.
Just then, Jiang Chao suddenly pushed the door open and went out.
“Where are you going?” Chen Lu asked.
“To take the first step.” Jiang Chao mumbled.
Li Sinian immediately chased after him, but was pushed back by Jiang Chao.
He complained to Chen Lu, “What’s the boss up to? Why is he acting so impulsively?”
“I feel like he’s been thinking about this for a long time.” Chen Lu continued to look at the door, his expression serious, “Hasn’t he been complaining about his dad forcing him to change his major since his freshman year?”
“But isn’t the leap too big… I wouldn’t be so surprised if he wanted to open a law firm.” Li Sinian smacked his lips.
He suddenly remembered something, “Oh right! Now that you mention it, I actually remember, he seems to have been researching this for days.”
Chen Lu nodded, “His execution… maybe he can really make something of it.”
Li Sinian didn’t refute, he started talking about his own business, “I don’t have such big dreams, I’m going to take the civil service exam.”
“That’s good.” Chen Lu said, then lay down on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
A law school student starting a business to make games? Too explosive.
But this also gave Chen Lu a signal, it was soon his turn to make a choice about his future life…
