Chapter 54: Feeding
The teacher in charge was startled and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
Jiang Chao and the others beside him were also stunned, completely unable to understand why Chen Lu, who had been smiling just moments ago, was suddenly acting out like this.
However, seeing Chen Lu’s serious expression, the smile on Jiang Chao’s face gradually solidified, replaced by worry.
After a short silence, the teacher nodded slightly.
The next second, Chen Lu bolted out.
He called Xiao Xunfang on the way to calm her down and sent a message to the counselor to ask for leave.
Clearly, he didn’t plan on attending his next class either.
Unlike with Liu Yan, his message was immediately approved by the counselor.
…
Hospital, in front of the ward door.
Chen Lu’s mouth was slightly open, gasping for breath. The pungent smell of disinfectant in the air kept filling his nostrils. Running this far after parking his car made his throat sore.
He leaned against the wall, raising his head, and saw a short-haired girl standing at the door, wiping away tears.
It was Lin Miaomiao.
“What… what happened?” Chen Lu asked, approaching her, his voice hoarse.
“Talk, I heard she fainted and ran over, what happened?”
Seeing Lin Miaomiao wiping her tears with the back of her hand, he continued to ask, his tone becoming urgent.
“Zhirou has low blood sugar.” Lin Miaomiao said sadly.
Chen Lu was stunned.
“…Are you crazy? Low blood sugar isn’t that serious. You’re standing here crying and almost scared me to death.”
Lin Miaomiao glared at him, “What are you talking about!”
She wanted to scold Chen Lu a few more times.
But when she looked up, she saw Chen Lu taking a deep breath, leaning back against the wall in exhaustion, a faint smile on his face.
Her little temper suddenly subsided.
Chen Lu turned to look at her, his breathing much better, “Why aren’t you going in?”
“The doctor is inside, I just finished helping her with the admission procedures.”
“She has to stay in the hospital?” Chen Lu asked with some concern. He knew about the symptoms of low blood sugar, but he wasn’t sure about this kind of fainting.
“Even if it’s just for a couple of days, we have to go through the procedures.”
Chen Lu nodded slightly, not saying anything else. He took out his phone and called Xiao Xunfang.
He kept glancing through the glass door at the ward, seemingly seeing Liang Zhirou still receiving a glucose drip.
“Hospitals are really not a good place…”
He sighed as he waited for the call to be answered.
Most atheists find themselves believing in God here.
Apart from families welcoming newborns, most people rarely smile here.
At this moment, the phone was answered.
“Hello, Auntie, don’t come over, I’m here.” Chen Lu spoke first, “Lin Miaomiao and I are both here, it’s not a big deal.”
“If it really can’t be helped, I’ll pick you up later.”
He was in a hurry and didn’t even think about picking up Xiao Xunfang, only caring about checking on Liang Zhirou.
“Ah… okay, thank you so much.” Xiao Xunfang said softly, her voice weary, with a hint of crying.
She had been hailing taxis on the roadside for a long time, but none were willing to take her.
She didn’t know anyone here, sitting in her wheelchair, listening to the constant flow of vehicles on the road, feeling so helpless and lost.
Only now did Chen Lu fully realize that Liang Zhirou was truly the pillar of their family.
She couldn’t even afford to get sick.
Seeing the doctor come out of the door, he said, “Auntie, I have to hang up.”
The doctor saw their anxious expressions and said calmly, “It’s not a big deal, low blood sugar fainting won’t leave any sequelae if you seek medical attention quickly. Just rest in bed for now, and pay attention to it in the future.”
“Okay.”
Chen Lu said as he opened the door and went in.
Liang Zhirou had been listening to Chen Lu’s voice, and now seeing his familiar handsome face, she felt an indescribable feeling.
Lin Miaomiao, who followed Chen Lu, also smiled at her, making her unconsciously curl her lips.
A smile finally appeared on her pale face.
This feeling of being cherished by friends had never been so clear.
All three of them had faint smiles on their faces, but for different reasons.
Chen Lu lightly poked Liang Zhirou’s forehead with his index finger, then slowly sat down beside her.
“I’m sorry…” Liang Zhirou said apologetically.
She was apologizing for troubling Chen Lu and Lin Miaomiao, and also for not listening to Chen Lu.
Chen Lu looked up at the dripping glucose, softly criticizing, “Will you listen to me next time?”
“Yes…”
“You came here early, but if you had fainted and no one found you, your brain would have been deprived of oxygen for so long, you wouldn’t have died, but you would have become a fool.” Chen Lu continued to poke her head, not happy, “You’re already a fool, what if you become even more foolish?”
Liang Zhirou was too embarrassed to speak, so she just obediently lowered her head and let Chen Lu poke her.
She secretly raised her eyes to see Chen Lu’s slightly raised corners of his mouth, and she finally felt relieved.
“Can you two stop hurting me later?” Lin Miaomiao said angrily. After speaking, she sat down on the edge of the bed and took Liang Zhirou’s hand, “Do you want to eat something? I’ll go buy it for you.”
Liang Zhirou shook her head, looking drowsy and lacking appetite.
Chen Lu silently slowed down the infusion speed, “Go buy her some cookies, bread, or something, let her eat a little bit, and eat when she has an appetite.”
Lin Miaomiao immediately went out after hearing Chen Lu’s words, who would want to be a light bulb?
After the door closed, the ward instantly became quiet.
“Is there anything else that’s uncomfortable?” Chen Lu asked softly after punishing the girl.
“It’s okay, I just have no strength.”
“No matter how much you want to work harder, you have to take better care of your health, you know?” Chen Lu said, peeling the candy wrapper while helping Liang Zhirou, “Lin Miaomiao was crying outside just now, for those of us who care about you, you have to take care of yourself too.”
“Here, open your mouth.” Chen Lu held the candy and brought it to her mouth, “Reward you for smiling at me for the first time.”
Liang Zhirou nervously pursed her lips, letting the orange candy touch her lips.
“Open your mouth wider, you can’t even fit it in with your mouth so small.” Chen Lu frowned.
“I, I can eat it myself, okay?” Liang Zhirou pleaded pitifully.
“It’s okay, no one’s watching.” Chen Lu deliberately glanced at the door, “If you keep stalling, Lin Miaomiao will catch you!”
As soon as he turned his gaze away, he felt a soft, moist touch on his fingertips.
The candy was snatched away, and his hand remained there, stiffly. A little bit of liquid remained on his finger, slightly cold, making him swallow involuntarily.
Feeding achievement, get.
In a strange way.
He turned his head in surprise, only seeing Liang Zhirou’s slightly red and beautiful profile. She seemed to have noticed something and turned her face away, not daring to look at him.
Liang Zhirou kept adjusting her breathing, afraid that Chen Lu would hear her rapid deep breaths. Her heart was pounding in her chest.
Something seemed wrong…
Did he trick her again?
No one’s watching doesn’t mean it’s okay, right?!
