Chapter 60: A Few Close Friends Is Enough
After Chen Lu finished speaking, he quietly moved his phone away from his ear.
As expected, a very noisy voice came from the other end.
“Damn! You really agreed?” Jiang Chao shouted, seemingly forgetting to chew the snacks in his mouth.
“Yes,” Chen Lu said softly. “But there are some things we need to discuss, I’ll talk to you when I get back to the dorm.”
Jiang Chao was very excited, “Okay, okay, I’ll wait for you.”
Chen Lu hung up the phone and continued to look at Liang Zhirou for a while.
The girl was still diligently sorting out the packages, placing each one in its designated location.
She would occasionally lower her head and carefully look at the information recorded on them, her hair falling down with her movements, and she would gently tuck it behind her ear.
Chen Lu felt a little surprised. It seemed like after he said he liked her with long hair, she hadn’t tied her hair in a ponytail much.
Liang Zhirou seemed to sense a figure that had been standing still for a long time in the distance, feeling strange, she looked up, but saw nothing.
Only a gentle breeze blew past, rustling the green leaves of the few trees.
…
As soon as Chen Lu returned to the dorm, Jiang Chao came up to him like a ghost.
“Tell me! Why did you suddenly change your mind?” he asked curiously.
Chen Lu tilted his head in a slightly speechless manner, “Why do I feel like I’m the one who hasn’t changed his mind?”
“Go to hell!” Jiang Chao laughed and cursed at him, grabbing the car keys on the table and stroking them with a reluctant touch.
Then he lifted his eyelids, turned to Chen Lu, “Let’s go, come with me for a drive around.”
Chen Lu didn’t ask any further questions and went with him.
The deep black Mercedes drove along the road towards the setting sun, turning at familiar bends, without any destination.
Xu Shangao’s “This Year’s Courage” was playing in the car, and the two chatted sporadically.
“You’ve changed, my good son.” Jiang Chao suddenly said.
“Where did your father change?”
Chen Lu wouldn’t let himself be taken advantage of like that.
Boys would secretly change each other’s names when the other wasn’t paying attention, this tactic was too common.
It didn’t matter if they failed a few times, but as long as they succeeded once, no matter how old they were, they would laugh like fools.
Jiang Chao proudly tapped his index finger on the steering wheel, as if in his eyes, only his ideas added to Chen Lu’s could truly be implemented, “Of course you’ve changed, you’re not lost anymore.
Yesterday you were probably still hesitating whether to fish for a lifetime or make some progress.”
Chen Lu’s lips curled up, “You admit that I’m your father?”
“Go away! I’m talking seriously.”
“Then I’m your father too.” Chen Lu shrugged.
Jiang Chao suddenly wanted to slam the steering wheel and die with this guy, his emotions were just coming up, he was being sentimental, and this guy was doing this.
No fun!
Not filial at all.
“So why? Can you tell me?” Jiang Chao still asked curiously.
Chen Lu looked at the sun that was faintly visible between the tall buildings in the distance, and unconsciously smiled, “Because there’s a fool working to save up money to buy me a camera.”
“So it’s not normal for me to find a job for her?”
After all, they were both trying their best to fulfill each other’s wishes, it was the same.
Jiang Chao frowned, as if he had taken a big bite of lemon, “You call that working?”
“Oh, right. Speaking of which, I remember, we’ll team up then, I’ll take the lead.” Chen Lu’s expression became serious, “Don’t worry, I won’t be freeloading off you, I’ll pay for myself.”
Because Chen Lu and Jiang Chao had a very good relationship, he wanted to be clear about it.
It was fine to team up with Jiang Chao, he trusted him too much, Jiang Chao was the kind of person who would rush into the battlefield in front of you if he considered you a brother.
But it wouldn’t work if Jiang Chao was the leader, if they followed his path, they would definitely starve.
These words almost made Jiang Chao drop his cigarette, he thought Chen Lu was being so serious, he was going to say something important.
“I thought you were going to say something, is that all?” He said disdainfully, spitting out a mouthful of saliva, “I told you before, even if you don’t contribute a penny, I’ll listen to you.”
Chen Lu laughed softly and looked out the window, “It seems like my brother is quite important.”
After a while, he said again, “You really trust me, that’s outrageous.”
Jiang Chao rolled down the window and slowly exhaled a smoke ring.
“It’s almost June, when the new batch of freshmen come in September, we’ll have known each other for three years.
Maybe it’s not that long, but you’re really my best friend. That’s the main reason I trust you, the secondary reason is that you really have the ability.
I’m not an idiot, could it be that you’re useless at everything and I’m still begging you to come and be a master strategist?
Of course I’m also attracted to your ability, but that’s really secondary.”
Jiang Chao seemed to want to emphasize that he valued their relationship most.
“When did we become close?” Chen Lu suddenly asked.
Jiang Chao seemed to recall something and couldn’t help but smile silently, “I suddenly remember when we first started school, I really disliked you.
I thought that with my looks, I would be a hit in college, and girls would be lining up to date me. But as soon as I entered the dorm, I saw you. Damn, thinking about it now, you should die.
Because of you, I didn’t get close to any girls in our class before I chased after Liu Yan.”
“Later, didn’t the counselor let us choose our own class monitor? I stood up, and when I saw you didn’t stand up, I felt relieved.”
As he spoke, he punched Chen Lu, “But you, the burden, secretly helped Mo Yuqing.”
“At that time, I really couldn’t stand you.”
“Then later…”
Jiang Chao recalled a lot of things, but he didn’t recall anything specific, he couldn’t remember how they became good friends.
“Maybe it was after we went to the internet cafe together for the first time?” Chen Lu thought for a long time before mentioning it.
In fact, they had long forgotten when they became close, and they had also forgotten the opportunity for them to become conjugated fathers.
Most boys would only remember the anniversary of their relationship with their girlfriend, as for their best friends? They’re not that familiar.
Of course, it was also partly because their best friends wouldn’t get mad at them for forgetting when they met.
But none of that mattered.
At this time, Jiang Chao suddenly pointed to the window.
“Remember here? That time when I almost had a fight with Li Si Nian, you drove us to this internet cafe that night.”
He froze for a moment.
“Damn, how come it’s turned into a foot massage parlor?!”
The way boys get along is very strange, the most direct example is that they drove around aimlessly until night.
The tall buildings all around were lit up, and headlights would occasionally shine on Chen Lu’s face, making him feel a little depressed.
Jiang Chao parked the car by the bridge, got out and looked at the river in front of him, lit a cigarette in the darkness, and dropped a few scattered sparks.
He sighed deeply, “Okay, I don’t have any attachment to this car anymore. I’ll sell it in a while, we’ll take a gamble. I’ll try with you, I won’t regret it.
Even if we don’t succeed, when I’m old, I’ll just smile when I think back on it.”
At least I tried, and I did it with my best friend.
Chen Lu tilted his head, looking at him as if he were an idiot, “Who told you to sell the car?”
Jiang Chao was stunned, he almost put the lit end of the cigarette in his mouth.
“Where else will we get the money?”
Chen Lu leaned on the railing, letting the evening wind blow his hair, and slightly curled his lips, “Since I’m here, I must have a way.”
