Chapter 32: Dividing the Dirt
Yang Mumu and the others had just left when the train arrived at a station, and someone came to fill the empty seat in the two rows of six seats they had been occupying.
After a man wearing the uniform of an educated youth sat down, he looked at the circle of empty seats around him, and for some reason felt a sense of loss, as if he had lost something, and felt uncomfortable.
“What’s going on? Could it be that I haven’t rested well recently because I’ve been busy traveling? Yeah, that must be it.” After a while, many educated youths came around, and people also came to the seats behind him.
He looked over, his eyes lit up, and all sense of loss disappeared. He turned around and greeted the educated youths like a butterfly flitting among flowers, intentionally or unintentionally looking at the female comrades in the back seats, and organized people to introduce themselves, and then they sang songs, and the car was filled with laughter.
**The compartment here was even happier. The conditions after the upgrade were obvious. Compared to the hard seats before, they were now in paradise. The compartment had a spacious space, four berths, two upper and lower bunks.
Yang Mumu slept on the upper bunk on the right, Xia Zhizhi and He Yuan slept on the lower bunk on the right, Gu Xingzhou, as the protagonist with epilepsy, slept on the lower bunk on the left, and Song Yan slept on the upper left.
The compartment also had a door, and when the door was closed, it was quiet and undisturbed, forming a sharp contrast with the noisy outside. After the conductor brought them in, he gave a few instructions and left.
He came back again and brought them five boxes of boxed lunches, and thoughtfully brought a bottle filled with boiling water and put it down.
“Comrade Yang, I’ll leave it to you here, please take care of it, call us if you need anything, we’ll often come over here to patrol, you don’t have to worry about eating, we’ll send it over when it’s time, Comrade Gu is entrusted to you.
” Yang Mumu looked at this treatment, and with a thick face, accepted everything, “Okay, thank you conductor comrade, don’t worry, leave it to me here, don’t worry, go and be busy.” “Okay, I’m relieved to hear you say that.
” The conductor settled everything down, feeling much more at ease. When he walked to the door to close it, he saw Gu Xingzhou sitting up, his heart skipped a beat, and he hurried back: “Comrade Gu, you should lie down and rest, don’t get up for now, stabilize your condition, tell me what you want to do, I’ll help you.”
“I just want to drink some water, don’t be nervous.” Gu Xingzhou picked up the water cup and took a sip, “See, it’s okay, conductor comrade, go and be busy with your work.” “Okay, okay, drink slowly, drink slowly.”
The conductor was relieved to see him lying down before going out, “I’ll go and be busy first, Comrade Yang, I’ll leave it to you, I’m leaving.” The door was completely closed, and the person left. Yang Mumu breathed out a big breath, closed the lock on the inside of the door, and sat down at the small table.
“Oh my god, this conductor is too enthusiastic, and he’s so thoughtful, he prepared the food and hot water for us, he’s really a good person.” She waved to everyone, “You all come over, let’s divide the food, let’s talk after we eat, I’m starving.” Gu Xingzhou was the first to jump down from the bed and took the first box of boxed lunch from Yang Mumu’s hand.
“Thank you, he’s really enthusiastic, I can’t even walk on my own, he has to support me to walk over.” Xia Zhizhi looked at him in surprise: “You, Comrade Gu, is it okay for you to jump like that?” Song Yan took his own meal, and turned his head to add when he heard this, “Yeah, Brother Zhou, don’t fall down again, it’s too tiring for my Sister Mu.”
“Hey, I told you I’m not sick, you still don’t believe me, I have intermittent epilepsy, but I don’t have epilepsy, I just get sick when I meet a rogue, understand?” Gu Xingzhou patted Song Yan’s shoulder and explained.
“Huh? Really not sick?” Except for Yang Mumu, everyone else questioned in unison, looking at Gu Xingzhou suspiciously, with the same expression as the conductor, completely disbelieving. He Yuan said, “But, you looked really scary at the time, foaming at the mouth, I’ve seen an epilepsy patient before, it was just like that.
” Yang Mumu almost spat out the food in her mouth from laughing, look how honest and simple everyone is, Gu Xingzhou’s performance is really good. “Comrade Gu, you’re really amazing.” “Hey, it’s just practice makes perfect.
” Gu Xingzhou was in a good mood, and seeing that the others still didn’t understand, he didn’t continue to speak, it didn’t matter if they didn’t understand, at least Comrade Yang understood him, and cooperated with him so well, as expected, Comrade Yang was different. “I won’t say much else, you just need to know that I’m not sick.”
Song Yan didn’t say anything else, he didn’t understand, but he knew to follow Yang Mumu, following Sister Mu he could eat and drink well, seeing that his Sister Mu was sure that this brother wasn’t sick, then he wasn’t sick, he didn’t need to know any other inside information.
“Understood, thank you Brother Zhou, thanks to you and Sister Mu today we were able to punish the bad guy, and stay in such a good compartment, and eat free boxed lunches, thank you, no matter whether we can go to the countryside in the same place, we’ll be friends in the future, if there’s anything you need, just ask me, I’ll definitely help if I can.”
“Okay, we’ll be friends in the future, we’re still friends who have gone through thick and thin together, our friendship will definitely last forever.
” Gu Xingzhou loved to hear these words, raised his water bottle and looked at everyone, “Come, let’s raise our glasses together, let’s have a toast, for today’s meeting, for today’s friendship.” The other two female comrades were still confused, but they all sensibly didn’t continue to ask, and also smiled and raised their cups to thank them, the two of them were especially grateful to Yang Mumu.
After the meal, Gu Xingzhou pulled Yang Mumu to the side and took out the money that the middle-aged woman had given and handed it to Yang Mumu. “This money is for you, there’s a total of thirty-six yuan and five jiao, all the money that the middle-aged woman gave.” Yang Mumu immediately became interested, opened it and counted it, “Hey, we both put in the effort, let’s split it in half.
” Gu Xingzhou thought of the notes he had taken before and suggested, “There are three ten-yuan bills in here, it’s not convenient to split it that way, how about this, you put in more effort, you get 20, and I get 16 yuan and 5 jiao?”
“Okay, then I won’t be polite.” Yang Mumu’s favorite part, she took two of the ten-yuan bills and put them in her bag, handed over all the rest, and said happily, “Call me for this kind of work in the future, you have a seizure, I go crazy, we’ll have epilepsy together, we’ll make money and also mess with those bad elements.”
The Comrade Gu in front of her really had a personality and appearance that were completely different, not at all related. He was straightforward and willing to go all out and have a seizure, with no idol baggage at all, very much to her liking, this was a friend she could make. “Okay, definitely.”
Gu Xingzhou was excited and extended his right hand. Yang Mumu shook it, and they smiled at each other: “Happy cooperation.” After dividing the spoils, it was still very early before they reached the final destination, there was plenty of time.
They couldn’t just sit there all day, that would be too boring. So, everyone gathered together to chat, draw grids to play chess, and so on. He Yuan also took out a lot of jerky from her bag and shared it with everyone, and Xia Zhizhi took out some peanuts and melon seeds to share.
Song Yan was the most exaggerated, he took out a section of sausage that he had cooked at home, warmed it in a lunch box with boiling water, sliced it, and put it in the middle for everyone to eat together.
Gu Xingzhou actually took out a bottle of Beijing’s Arctic Ocean soda and poured a sip into everyone’s cup to drink. Yang Mumu saw that there were so many things on the table, all that was missing was fruit, so she simply grabbed a handful of local crisp plums that she had bought at home and shared them with everyone. They sat together eating and chatting, getting to know each other. There were a total of five people in this compartment, and only He Yuan didn’t like to talk, she said very little.
The others were all a bit talkative and naturally familiar, they chatted so much that they were flying, and gradually became familiar with each other. He Yuan was eventually drawn into the topic by them, she looked a bit aloof, awkward, and tsundere, but after getting to know her, she also talked more.
With the combination in the compartment, her relationship with Xia Zhizhi had transformed from being deadly enemies who argued every time they met into friends, although they couldn’t change their habits on the spot and the words they said were a bit awkward.
The biggest impression left on Yang Mumu was that she was very generous, no, she was extremely generous. She finally experienced the joy of being bombarded with money by a rich young lady, sugar-coated bullets were too corrosive.
She gave you all kinds of snacks to eat, new and beautiful hair flowers to give away casually, and even chocolate that could only be bought in friendship stores. And the most memorable thing for Yang Mumu during this time was the evening, when He Yuan took out a pen and leaned on the bed to write a letter to her family.
