When I Woke Up, My Billionaire Wife’s Childhood Friend Was Back Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Then Qi Manyi finally spoke: “I think you two should quietly sell the South District land of Yiwan Group to a company that has close ties with Su Minghan and Su Hongwei.”

Su Xiaowan and Qin Yi exchanged a glance and smiled at each other.

Seeing this, Su Shengqiang could only quietly sigh.

Once Qi Manyi felt the discussion was mostly settled, she turned to Qin Yi and asked, “Xiao Yi, you really don’t plan to serve as the chairman of Yiwan Group?”

“Dad, Mom, I know my own abilities. I can only contribute ideas behind the scenes,” Qin Yi said sincerely.

As soon as he finished, Su Xiaowan immediately spoke up: “Dad, Mom, don’t pressure my husband!”

“Ah, just indulge him,” Qi Manyi said, standing and pointing at Su Xiaowan’s forehead.

Then she went upstairs.

Seeing this, Su Xiaowan said to Qin Yi and Su Shengqiang: “Dad, honey, I’ll go upstairs and comfort her.”

With Qi Manyi and Su Xiaowan upstairs, Qin Yi and Su Shengqiang both stood and stayed in the living room with Qin Nian Nian, watching cartoons.

Upstairs, in the study, Qi Manyi wasn’t surprised when Su Xiaowan followed her.

“Mom, did you want to talk to me privately about something?” Su Xiaowan asked, casually taking a seat.

“Has Qin Yi ever done anything to wrong you?” Qi Manyi asked directly.

“Mom, don’t you know my temper? If he ever dared to betray me, I’d make sure he lost the right to be a man!”

Qi Manyi nodded in satisfaction. “That’s my daughter!”

She continued: “The reason I agreed to your marriage with him was that Qin Yi comes from a modest family and is easy to manage. Someone like him could never threaten your interests.”

“Mom, then why did you insist on my husband becoming chairman of Yiwan Group?”

“I just don’t want you to struggle too much. Even if he becomes chairman, I have ways to make sure he doesn’t go astray.”

Su Xiaowan sighed. “Mom, after all these years, you still don’t fully trust my husband?”

“People’s hearts are unpredictable.”

“Mom, just look at how lazy my husband is. How ambitious do you think he could be?”

“The problem is, he might just be pretending.”

“Who could pretend like that for so many years?” Su Xiaowan said.

Qi Manyi looked puzzled. “Xiaowan, I don’t understand. How could you completely fall for someone like Qin Yi?”

“Mom, I just like him.”

“Alright, if you like him, then keep your interactions with Yi Bohao minimal. Don’t let Xiao Yi misunderstand your relationship with him.”

She added: “Make sure it doesn’t interfere with our plans.”

“Mom, I understand!”

After chatting a bit longer, the mother and daughter left the study.

Back in the living room, after spending over half an hour watching cartoons with Qin Nian Nian, Qin Yi, Su Xiaowan, and their daughter eventually parted ways with Su Shengqiang and Qi Manyi.

The next morning, since it was a day off, Qin Yi insisted on letting Su Xiaowan sleep in.

By 10 a.m., they finally came downstairs to the living room.

Qin Nian Nian had already been washed and fed by the house staff and was building a tower with blocks in the living room.

“Daddy, Mommy, look at the blocks I built! Aren’t they pretty?” she proudly exclaimed.

“They’re beautiful! My little one is amazing!” Qin Yi encouraged.

Hearing her father’s praise, Qin Nian Nian looked at her mother, hoping to hear the same compliment.

Su Xiaowan pretended to examine the blocks for a moment, then nodded: “Nian Nian, you’re incredible! Mommy couldn’t build blocks this nicely.”

Delighted by the praise from both parents, Qin Nian Nian started spinning around the blocks joyfully.

After a while, Su Xiaowan picked her up onto the sofa. “Nian Nian, Grandpa and Grandma are coming this afternoon. What pretty clothes will you wear to greet them?”

After thinking for a moment, Qin Nian Nian jumped up and pulled her mother toward her bedroom.

Once Su Xiaowan and Qin Nian Nian left the living room, Qin Yi was about to grab a snack when his phone suddenly rang—it was Yi Bohao.

“Hello, Hao Ge, why are you calling me at this time?” Qin Yi asked as he answered.

“Qin Yi, are you free this afternoon? I have a meeting with a business partner I’d like to introduce to you.”

“Hao Ge, I’m really sorry, but I can’t make it this afternoon.”

“Can’t you postpone it?”

“Really can’t! My parents are in Tianhai City for three days, so I’ll be tied up.”

“I see. Alright, I’ll introduce the partner to you another time then.”

“Thanks so much, Hao Ge!” Qin Yi said sincerely into the phone.

After ending the call, Qin Yi frowned at his darkened phone screen.

He felt that Yi Bohao was being excessively eager to help, which seemed unnatural.

Could Yi Bohao really be a selfless saint? Qin Yi shook his head, dismissing the thought.

Elsewhere, Yi Bohao sat in his home tea room, sipping tea while gazing outside.

After setting his cup down, he sighed softly. “Plans can’t keep up with changes.”

He then stood and headed toward the front door.

Soon, Yi Bohao drove alone to a high-end private club.

If Qin Yi had seen him, he’d think Yi Bohao had good taste—the club was one Qin Yi often visited as well.

Yi Bohao entered the club and confidently made his way to a private room.

Passing through the lobby, he noticed a young woman who seemed to be there for a job interview.

Yi Bohao paused at her back, and when she turned to leave, he was struck by her mature figure.

After she exited, Yi Bohao gestured to a staff member, pointing at her.

The staff immediately understood his meaning: “Sir, I’m sorry. She hasn’t agreed to come work here yet.”

Yi Bohao looked a bit disappointed but continued into the club.
