When I Woke Up, My Billionaire Wife’s Childhood Friend Was Back Chapter 4

Chapter 4

After quickly finishing lunch, Qin Yi and Su Xiaowan drove straight back home.

In the bedroom, just as Qin Yi was about to take the next step, his phone rang at the most inconvenient time.

When Qin Yi saw the caller ID, he felt a bit guilty and wanted to hang up.

However, Su Xiaowan was eyeing him mischievously at that very moment.

Before he could hang up, she snatched the phone from his hand like lightning, answered it, and turned on the speaker.

“Brother Yi, I’ve arrived at the Hongma Club. When will you get here?” As soon as the call connected, a male voice came from the phone.

“I have something to do today. You guys go ahead and discuss the business matters yourselves. I won’t be coming.”

As soon as Qin Yi finished speaking, there was a short silence on the other end, then the voice replied, “Okay, Brother Yi, I understand.”

Right after that, the call ended.

Seeing that the caller had hung up, Su Xiaowan immediately put down the phone, stood up, and looked at Qin Yi.
“Well, well! I thought you knew which private room I was in because you bribed a waiter at the Hongma Club, but I didn’t expect you to be a regular there.

Wait a second—Hongma Club is a business club. What are you doing there?”

“Of course I go there for business meetings!” Qin Yi answered with a sincere tone.

“Don’t lie to me! You think I didn’t recognize that voice? That was Li Yanxing, the youngest son of the Li family. He’s a total playboy!”

Then Su Xiaowan continued, “I know you too well. You’d never attend a business meeting on your own—unless the sun rose in the west.”

Realizing he couldn’t talk his way out, Qin Yi simply lunged toward Su Xiaowan.

“Hubby, can we put everything about me aside for today now?” Su Xiaowan leaned against the headboard, hugging Qin Yi’s arm gently.

“Don’t get complacent—you’re still under observation,” Qin Yi replied sternly.

Su Xiaowan didn’t expose her husband’s little act. Instead, she continued, “Then can you tell me why you went to the Hongma Club? Does it offer… some hidden services?”

Qin Yi knew his wife was smart, but he hadn’t expected her to make such connections from just a few words.

It wasn’t entirely her fault—she knew her husband too well.

“Wifey, you’re overthinking it! I really just went there for business.”

Then Qin Yi pulled a long face and reminded her, “Also… you haven’t transferred me the money yet.”

“Hmph! You didn’t serve me well today. No allowance this month,” Su Xiaowan snorted.

Hearing that, Qin Yi was instantly furious—this was a matter of a man’s dignity!

Eventually, before their daughter Qin Niannian came back from school, Su Xiaowan still transferred the money to Qin Yi.

However, she also decided she would find someone tomorrow to investigate whether the Hongma Club secretly offered other services.

She knew her husband would never actually sleep with another woman—but he would flirt with pretty ones.

Afterward, Qin Yi and Su Xiaowan walked downstairs, chatting along the way.

“Wifey, how’s the investigation on that phone number going?”

“It’s a virtual number—nothing useful can be traced.”

As they spoke, they entered the living room.

After a servant brought them two cups of tea, Qin Yi sipped his and asked, “Do you think the person who sent me those photos could be Yi Bohao?”

Su Xiaowan hesitated and replied, “Hubby, I don’t think it’s him.”

Then, afraid her husband might misunderstand, she quickly added, “But of course, Yi Bohao is still a suspect.”

Qin Yi wasn’t upset; he stayed calm.

“Wifey, then who do you suspect the most?”

Su Xiaowan looked around cautiously, then whispered, “I suspect people from the Su family. You know that if I’m still thriving at Yiwang Group by the time I turn 30, I could still compete for the heir position of the Su Group.”

Hearing that, Qin Yi lowered his head in thought, then raised it and analyzed, “So, by your logic, some people in the Su family might want to drive a wedge between us, make us fight, and use the chance to bankrupt Yiwang Group.”

“Mhm.”

After a pause, Qin Yi smiled and asked, “Wifey, if someday some Su family members try to bribe me, do you think I should take the money or not?”

“Of course take it—why wouldn’t you take free money?”

They both chuckled.

Then Qin Yi grew serious and warned, “Wifey, I’m not being paranoid—but I still think Yi Bohao is suspicious. Be careful around him.”

“Okay, I will, hubby.”

“Huh, he’s your childhood friend. You trust me this easily?”

Su Xiaowan gazed at him tenderly. “Hubby, if I didn’t trust you, why would I marry you and have a child with you? I know who matters most to me. Trust is the foundation of marriage.”

Qin Yi was so moved he nearly teared up.

But he still stubbornly said, “Wifey, I’m someone who loves money. Aren’t you afraid I’ll betray you someday for more of it?”

“You’re right,” Su Xiaowan nodded, then said, “That’s why I have to work even harder—to keep you from getting snatched away by some rich woman.”

Qin Yi looked at her seriously, then patted her shoulder encouragingly. “Wifey, go for it! My future rich life depends on you.”

Then he suddenly joked, “So… when will you let me keep a few mistresses?”

Su Xiaowan didn’t get angry—she smiled, though her eyes didn’t.

She stared at his annoying face, then slowly let her gaze drift downward.

“Hubby, I could agree right now. I just worry you won’t… have the ability.”

Following her gaze, Qin Yi suddenly felt a chill down there. He quickly wrapped his arm around her shoulder and said with a laugh, “Wifey, I was only joking! You know what kind of man I am.”

“You’d better be,” she warned. “Say something like that again and you’ll meet my fist.”

She playfully shook her soft little fist at him.

After fooling around a bit more, Su Xiaowan brought up serious business. “Hubby, are we really going to give up on developing commercial housing projects? I’m kind of reluctant.”

“Wifey, trust me. There’s already an oversupply of commercial housing in China. Sooner or later, the bubble will burst. We should sell off those less promising plots while the prices are still high.”

As he said that, a sudden thought flashed through Qin Yi’s mind.
