When I Woke Up, My Billionaire Wife’s Childhood Friend Was Back Chapter 6

Chapter 6

As Su Xiaowan was lost in her thoughts, Li Zhiqing knocked on the door and walked in.

“President, Mr. Yi is here!”

“Let him in.”

Soon, Su Xiaowan and Yi Bohao were sitting across from each other in the tea area of her office.

“Xiaowan, what did your husband say about the contract?”

Hearing this, Su Xiaowan felt a bit embarrassed. She glanced at Yi Bohao and explained, “Bohao, I’m sorry. Yesterday my husband said he still needs to think about it.”

“Xiaowan, why are you listening to that lazy guy? I know him well—he’s so unreliable. He probably didn’t even show up for work today, right?”

Hearing Yi Bohao belittle her husband, Su Xiaowan’s tone turned sharp.
“Bohao, he’s my husband and the father of my daughter. Show him some respect. I don’t want you two to become hostile to each other in the future. After all, you’ve been my childhood friend.”

“Sorry, Xiaowan. I just felt bad for you, that’s all.”

Seeing how strongly Su Xiaowan defended Qin Yi, Yi Bohao silently warned himself: Don’t be too hasty. I’ll have to take things slowly.

Just then, Su Xiaowan’s phone buzzed with a new message.

She quickly checked it, then set the phone down calmly and continued chatting with Yi Bohao.

Meanwhile, Qin Yi was sitting in a private booth at the Red Horse Club, watching the dancing girls with great interest.

“Brother Yi, you didn’t get found out yesterday, did you?” Li Yanxing asked quietly.

Qin Yi didn’t answer him directly. Instead, he replied, “I think my wife might have found out about the extra ‘services’ at the Red Horse Club.”

“What? Then how are you going to come out and play in the future?”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”

Then Qin Yi asked, “Did you get the information I told you to find out?”

“Brother Yi, you should just ask him yourself. That’s Jiang Junjia—his father’s a top official.” Li Yanxing gestured toward the man sitting on the other side of the booth’s sofa.

He added, “He likes to have fun, just like us.”

“Mm.”

Qin Yi followed his gaze, picked up his drink, and walked over to sit beside Jiang Junjia.

“Jiang Shao, are you satisfied with today’s arrangements?” Qin Yi clinked glasses with him and asked.

Then he explained, “Sorry, Jiang Shao. My family’s strict, so I can only drink juice.”

Jiang Junjia chuckled, not caring about what was in Qin Yi’s glass.
“I heard from Li Shao that you arranged everything today?”

“Yes. If there’s anything you’re not happy with, just tell me and I’ll improve.”

“You misunderstand—I’m very satisfied! I didn’t expect such a big booth just for the three of us.”

Although Jiang Junjia liked to party, he wasn’t foolish.

He knew very well that Qin Yi and Li Yanxing had invited him out because they wanted something from him.

But he was also clear on what he could and couldn’t do.

Anything that crossed the line—he would never help with. He understood the consequences.

If his father went down, he would instantly become a nobody.

“As long as you’re happy, Jiang Shao.” Qin Yi smiled and followed Jiang’s gaze toward the two dancing twins.

He then whispered, “Jiang Shao, I can arrange for the twins tonight—no strings attached.”

Jiang Junjia set down his glass and looked at Qin Yi.
“Brother Yi, just tell me what you brought me here for today.”

“Haha, I knew you were straightforward. Even if you don’t give me any info, I still want to be friends.”

After a pause, Qin Yi finally revealed his purpose:
“Jiang Shao, I just want to know when the subway in the southern district of Tianhai City will open. And if there are any other plans for the south district.”

Jiang Junjia replied cautiously, “Brother Yi, that kind of info is all public—you can find it on the official website.”

“I want the exact timeline.”

“This…”

Jiang Junjia glanced at the twins who were still dancing.

After a long moment, he said, “I heard the finance side is tight right now. Most plans might be delayed.”

“Thank you, Jiang Shao.” Qin Yi downed the drink in his glass.

“Brother Yi, you must not tell anyone I said this. It’s just a rumor I heard, and no one would believe you if you repeated it.”

Jiang Junjia only revealed this because he found Qin Yi down-to-earth and knew he was considered a kept man—otherwise, he never would have mentioned it.

Information about the financial situation was only known to those at the very top.

“Jiang Shao, don’t worry. I won’t say a word.” Qin Yi promised.

“Brother Yi, why are you suddenly interested in city planning anyway?”

“Sigh… Being a kept man isn’t easy. I want to earn some money on my own. I finally saved up a bit and wanted to try investing.”

Jiang Junjia patted his shoulder sympathetically.

He had heard that although Qin Yi wasn’t a live-in son-in-law, all the wealth in his family came from his wife, Su Xiaowan.

It wasn’t hard to imagine how low Qin Yi’s status was at home.

Even now, he was just a low-level employee at Yiwang Group—despite graduating from one of the top five universities in the country.

“Brother Yi, listen to me—if you want to buy land in the southern district, don’t do anything rash within the next three years. Unless you have very deep pockets.”

Qin Yi immediately understood the implication.

The government plans wouldn’t change, but construction probably wouldn’t start for at least three years.

Despite all the rumors outside claiming the roads would be finished and the subway running within a year—clearly, that was just talk.

“Jiang Shao, I’ll remember this favor. If you ever need anything from me, just say the word.”

Then Qin Yi added, “I’ll go arrange a room for you to rest tonight.”

“I can’t stay out overnight.”

“I understand, Jiang Shao. I’ll make other arrangements then.”

About half an hour later, Qin Yi left the Red Horse Club alone.

When he checked the time, he realized it was almost the end of the workday.

So, he quickly drove home.
