When I Woke Up, My Billionaire Wife’s Childhood Friend Was Back Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Thinking of this, Su Xiaowan cautiously asked, “Hubby, do you think Yi Group knows about this news?”

“They probably don’t! Even though my mom has her opinions about me, she wouldn’t try to harm us! If she doesn’t know, how could Yi Group know?” Qin Yi shared his thoughts.

Su Xiaowan shook her head and countered, “Hubby, Mom is just the Vice President of Su Group. If we’re talking about being well-informed, she still can’t compare to my two uncles!”

She continued, “Hubby, after I had someone investigate the Red Horse Club today, this afternoon an unknown number sent me photos of you entering a private room there—with a beautiful woman in your arms, no less.”

“That’s impossible! Hand me the phone—I want to see it!” Qin Yi said, immediately reacting with a mix of shock and defensiveness.

Su Xiaowan smiled and handed him her phone.

After seeing the photos, Qin Yi became uneasy. These were photos from his visit to the Red Horse Club today. Could his little “quilt” (his daughter) have been exposed? No way—he absolutely couldn’t let that happen!

“Wife, I admit this happened, but it was a few days ago! And I didn’t even hold a woman’s arm going into the room!” Qin Yi nervously defended himself.

“Hm, I know! If Nian hadn’t told me that you hadn’t gone out today, I would have thought this was from today. After all, the clothes in the photo are identical to what you’re wearing now.”

Hearing his wife’s words, Qin Yi felt a wave of relief—this crisis had passed without incident.

“Wife, I have two sets of these clothes! You probably didn’t notice. I spent the whole day at home playing with Nian.”

“I know!”

Su Xiaowan then shifted the topic. “Hubby, it’s clear now. Someone in the Su family must be trying to sabotage our relationship.”

She didn’t want Qin Yi to know that Nian was on her side, so she avoided discussing the clothes. She knew perfectly well what clothes her husband owned—after all, she had picked out most of them herself.

Qin Yi was secretly pleased that his wife trusted him. But when she asserted that certain members of the Su family were behind this, he lowered his head to think deeply.

After a while, he looked up at his wife and said, “Wife, I agree with your assessment, but I still think Yi Bohao is suspicious.”

“Hubby, Yi Bohao came to see me this afternoon. This message came while I was chatting with him. If it were him, I would have noticed something on his face. But when I picked up and put down the phone, his expression didn’t change. I think he has nothing to do with this.”

After considering his wife’s analysis, Qin Yi said, “Alright, wife. Let’s say Su family members account for 80% of the risk, and Yi Bohao 20%. We focus on defending against your two uncles, but we can’t completely ignore Yi Bohao.”

“Okay, I agree with your suggestion!” Su Xiaowan replied.

After a pause, she returned to business: “Hubby, are we signing the contract with Yi Group or not?”

“Yes! Of course we are!”

“Huh? Hubby, you know our group’s funds won’t last past three years! Weren’t you just advising me to sell land in the southern district of Tianhai City?” Su Xiaowan asked in surprise.

“Wife, do you think the land prices in the southern district will drop in the next six months?”

“No! The official website already announced that roads and the subway will be built in the second half of the year.”

“Exactly! Since the land has no issues, after we buy it, we can find a reason to quickly resell it at a high price to another company, right?”

Su Xiaowan immediately understood. “Yes! It would be best to sell it to Su Group.”

“Wife, aren’t you worried that Mom might get involved?”

“Don’t worry. I’ll tell Mom the truth! She’ll know how to avoid getting stuck in the southern district mess.”

Once everything was clarified, Qin Yi and Su Xiaowan left the study.

As they neared the downstairs dining area, Su Xiaowan whispered in Qin Yi’s ear, “Tonight I’m checking homework! If you don’t satisfy me, humph! I have every reason to suspect you did something to betray me.”

Hearing this, Qin Yi immediately rushed to the kitchen and cooked a nourishing meal himself.

The next morning, Su Xiaowan practically dragged Qin Yi into the passenger seat of their car to go to work.

Since she had previously told Yi Bohao that Qin Yi needed to review the contract, he had to attend the signing in person that morning.

Ever since Yiwang Group was founded, Qin Yi had worked in the administrative department as a regular employee.

Su Xiaowan had scolded and lectured him before, but Qin Yi had consistently refused the position of Vice President.

In the end, Su Xiaowan had no choice but to accept his preferences—after all, it wasn’t worth fighting over such small matters every day.

As soon as Qin Yi arrived at the office, a group of female colleagues immediately surrounded him.

Handsome, witty, and married to the CEO, he was always popular among the young female staff.

“Is this a chatting session during work hours?” Suddenly, a stern voice came from the entrance of the administrative office.

Everyone looked over to see Su Xiaowan glaring at them.

“Qin Yi, come to my office!” she said, then turned and left the administrative department.

Looking at his strong, commanding wife, Qin Yi felt proud—she was a strong woman, but still under his influence.

Upon reaching Su Xiaowan’s office, she immediately scolded him, “So this is why you refuse to leave the administrative department, huh?”

“No! I just enjoy working there! What you saw just shows I’m well-liked by the staff—don’t overthink it.”

Qin Yi would never admit that the real reason he stayed in administration was because there were many attractive women there.
