Heaven helps those who help themselves. Although it was bright and sunny yesterday, today Bai Tao woke up to an overcast sky with a light drizzle outside her window.
Bai Tao sprang up excitedly, “Yu Guo, this is truly heaven-sent! Even the heavens are encouraging my plan! Let’s proceed with Plan B! I think today’s the day!”
Yu Guo hesitated, “Maybe we should forget it. The rain is light now, but what if it gets heavier later?”
“That’s impossible!” Bai Tao was confident. “Yesterday’s weather forecast said it would be cloudy today, but it’s raining now. This shows that the rain will stay light. The forecast can’t be that off.”
“But doesn’t that prove the forecast isn’t reliable…”
Bai Tao shot Yu Guo a look that said, “Stop talking. Don’t be such a worrywart.”
“I’ve studied Pei Shi’s route. At 8:30, he’ll definitely pass by that one-way street in front of his house…” As she spoke, Bai Tao rummaged through her lipstick collection, finally picking a light shade. “This one! With this and a fresh, delicate outfit, standing at the corner of that street, I’ll be the picture of a delicate beauty. Add in the light rain, and this beauty not only forgot her umbrella but is shivering from the cold. When Pei Shi’s car passes by and he sees this scene, can he, with his gentlemanly demeanor, not stop and offer me a ride?”
Applying false eyelashes, Bai Tao continued confidently, “I’ve figured it out. Some men are just twisted. They don’t care if you make sacrifices or confess to them directly. But they’re easily drawn to and protective of those who seem fragile and dependent. That’s why my Plan B is tailored for such men.”
Finishing her eyelashes, Bai Tao couldn’t find her eyeliner. She turned to Yu Guo, “Do you have any eyeliner? Can I borrow it?”
After rummaging through her makeup bag for a while, Yu Guo finally found one. “Here, take it.” She winked at Bai Tao, “I don’t usually share my makeup, but you’re my true sister. You get it.”

Half an hour later, Bai Tao was already in position on the one-way street that Pei Shi always took, well before 8:30. She had done a delicate makeup look that made her appear pitiful and fragile. With time to spare, she stood under a tree with her umbrella, waiting.
At 8:25, Pei Shi’s car appeared at the distant intersection. Seeing the perfect timing, Bai Tao immediately tossed aside her umbrella, striking a delicate pose and exposing herself to the light rain.
Five minutes, just perfect. When Pei Shi’s car reached her, she would be suitably drenched. She had cleverly worn a thin dress, confident in her figure. Once wet, the dress would cling to her, subtly revealing her curves—undoubtedly alluring. What normal man wouldn’t be moved?
Bai Tao tilted her face up, letting the rain hit her to enhance the helpless, pitiful, rain-soaked look…
Closer, closer, Pei Shi’s Bentley was now just a short distance away.
Success was within reach.
Bai Tao had already rehearsed dozens of flirtatious lines and scenarios in her head. Once she got into Pei Shi’s car, she was confident she could leave a deep and unforgettable impression on him during the short ride.
But as Bai Tao moved closer to the street corner, ready to wave at the approaching Bentley, the light drizzle suddenly intensified. By the time the Bentley was near, the rain had turned into a downpour, drenching Bai Tao as if buckets of cold water were being poured on her.
Yu Guo’s ominous prediction had come true!
However, Bai Tao was an optimist. A heavier rain only made her appear more pitiful and in need of shelter, thus more endearing and appealing.
Stay calm; it’s not a big problem.
Indeed, her delicate figure standing by the roadside was very noticeable in the heavy rain. As the Bentley approached, it began to slow down. Bai Tao smiled slightly, waiting for Pei Shi to instruct the driver to stop the car, get out with an umbrella, open the door for her, and maybe even drape his coat over her shoulders…

Pei Shi sat in the Bentley, the sound of rain outside creating a peaceful ambiance. He took out the financial newspaper, quickly scanning the latest updates in technology and finance. After reading about a smart artificial heart development company he had been optimistic about securing B-round financing, he looked up to see that the rain had intensified, and the driver was slowing down.
Pei Shi frowned, “Why are we slowing down?”
The driver hesitated but finally spoke up, “There’s someone at the intersection on the left, waving at us.”
Pei Shi pursed his lips and looked out the window. Sure enough, at the left intersection, a small drenched figure was waving at them.
“Young Master Pei, do you know them? Should we stop?”
Pei Shi didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he succinctly instructed, “No, just slow down a bit.”
The driver slowed down further so Pei Shi could get a clearer look.
Pei Shi, with perfect 20/20 vision, turned his head and took one look before turning back.
“I don’t know them.”
By now, the car had reached the person waving. The driver finally saw it was a woman, completely soaked, with hair plastered to her face. The most alarming sight was the two black streaks running down from her eyes, making her skin appear ghostly white and obscuring her features…
Although Pei Shi’s villa was in a good area, it was relatively secluded. This stretch of road rarely saw pedestrians, as the villa was surrounded by forest parks, often giving it a desolate feel.
This… might be an encounter with something unclean…
The driver was terrified of ghosts. Without waiting for Pei Shi’s further instructions, he floored the gas pedal, mentally reciting protective mantras, and sped past the girl who seemed like a ghost, vowing to visit a temple for blessings over the weekend.

The rain grew heavier, nearly blinding Bai Tao. She was about to curse when she saw the Bentley slow down and comforted herself that once she got in the car, everything would be fine…
However, just as she was about to push her hair back and wipe the rain off her face, the Bentley suddenly accelerated, splashing through a puddle and drenching her in muddy water as it sped away…

Bai Tao cursed Pei Shi all the way back to school. Her umbrella, tossed aside earlier, had been blown away by the wind. Covered in mud and water, she returned to her dorm looking like a drenched ghost. When she saw herself in the mirror, she was shocked.
“Yu Guo! Your eyeliner! How could it smudge like this?” Bai Tao was on the verge of tears. “Couldn’t you get a waterproof, sweat-proof one?”
Seeing the terrifying reflection in the mirror, Bai Tao immediately forgave Pei Shi.
Looking like this, Pei Shi had shown remarkable restraint by not mistaking her for a ghost and running her over. If she were Pei Shi, she might have driven over herself.
