Omega sat in front of the bed, his mind blank.
He couldn’t believe what he’d done last night.
He had made a call, exchanged a few words with that alpha, and the alpha had even given him an address, telling him to meet him tomorrow…
Omega let out a wail while clutching his head.
This was such bad luck!
He recalled the alpha’s appearance—cold, proud, and handsome, like a living ice sculpture, radiating brilliance and looking down upon everything.
Such an alpha was from a completely different world, so how could he dare approach and offend someone like that?
He opened his light screen and looked over the alpha’s information once again.
Undoubtedly, this was an alpha from a prestigious family. As a top-tier makeover specialist, he had left his photos at major events, and his face alone made him a high-exposure figure. There was much discussion about him online. However, the personal information available was limited to just a few lines; not even an extra detail was willing to be shared.
In this era of extreme transparency, this was an unspoken message—it was clear that he was not someone to be taken lightly, someone who couldn’t be easily provoked.
Omega was filled with fear and uncertainty. He thought for a long while, then went to the storage room and took out a freezer box. From a bottle inside, he carefully dripped two drops of liquid and applied it to the gland behind his neck.
Immediately, the faint scent of his pheromones in the air slowly began to fade.
This was a scent blocker he had purchased at a high price. It couldn’t eliminate omega traits, nor could it delay the heat cycle. Its only effect was to completely and thoroughly mask the scent of his pheromones, lasting for forty-eight hours.
The alpha’s words carried the cold, unyielding authority of someone who had long been at the top, and omega didn’t dare defy the alpha’s command to “not be late.” He reluctantly decided to make a compromise and disguise himself as a beta.
…This way, there would be fewer people mocking him or looking at him strangely.
The next day, omega climbed into the car sent by the driver and headed toward the address the alpha had given him.
He had taken a shower last night and scrubbed himself clean, though his eye sockets were still a bit swollen, which wasn’t the best look.
However, given his appearance, it would be hard for others to even notice the swelling.
Upon arriving, omega followed the directions on his lightbrain and made his way into the grand building. The hustle and bustle around him was filled with well-dressed, busy people, and even though some curious eyes briefly lingered on him, they quickly lost interest once they saw he was just a beta, an ugly one at that. This made him relax a little inside.
Just then, a sweet-looking beta girl walked up to him with a warm smile and asked, “Good day, sir. How may I assist you?”
Flustered, omega quickly pulled out the alpha’s business card and handed it to her, saying, “I’m here to see someone.”
Looking at the business card, the girl showed a hint of surprise on her face and whispered, “Please wait a moment.”
She then walked over to the front desk, surrounded by layers of holographic barriers, and said something to the staff there. Omega nervously stayed in place, silently grateful for the scent blocker—truly a useful product. Unfortunately, each person could only purchase a limited quantity per year, so he couldn’t rely on it long-term.
“Sir, please follow me,” the girl said with her unchanged smile. “Mr. A’s office is on the top floor. I’ll take you up.”
Omega hurriedly thanked her, “Thank you so much.”
“You’re too kind,” the girl replied with a smile.
She led him through the building without any hindrance. When they arrived at their destination, she stopped in front of a dark mahogany door and gently knocked.
A deep voice came from inside, “Come in.”
The girl opened the door and stepped aside. “After you.”
Omega hesitated, nervously rubbing the carpet with the tips of his shoes. After what felt like an eternity, he gathered enough courage to slowly enter the spacious office, with its large, bright floor-to-ceiling windows and a color scheme of pure white and dark gray.
“You’re here?” The alpha, standing behind the desk, lowered his head and placed his hands on a pile of scattered blueprints. “I didn’t even smell you…”
He spoke absentmindedly, lifting his head at the same time, only to lock eyes with omega, who was standing in the center of the office.
“………………”
After a long moment of silence, this handsome, mature alpha was left speechless, clearly taken aback by the unexpected sight.
Omega could no longer bring himself to look into his eyes. His ugly face turned bright red, and for a brief moment, he even thought about jumping out of the window to end it all.
“You’re… the omega who called me?” The alpha straightened up, his expression mixed as he scanned omega. “Is it you?”
Omega, feeling utterly humiliated, was on the verge of dying from embarrassment. “Y-yes, it’s me.”
“I understand.” The alpha said dryly. “Your situation is quite serious.”
After a brief silence, he added, “Serious doesn’t even begin to cover it. It’s more like a disaster.”
However, being an alpha who had weathered many storms, he took a deep breath and, after regaining composure, finally returned to his usual cold, aloof demeanor.
“You’ve used the scent-blocking agent, which is good,” he said indifferently. “I won’t have to treat you as an omega—hell, I don’t even have to see you as a person during this time. For now, you’re just a project I’m waiting to complete.”
Omega looked up in surprise and asked, “You’re willing to help me?”
The alpha furrowed his brows, exuding a sense of superiority. “My elders entrusted you to me. If I can’t just toss you aside like garbage, then I’ll do my best to make you look better… Keep your head down. Do you want me to go blind?”
“Oh,” Omega obediently lowered his head. Strangely, he didn’t feel hurt or offended.
The alpha shoved all the papers aside, his voice cold as he said, “Now, let’s do a little test…” Before he could finish, the screen in front of him flickered several times. “Have them come back later!”
He smashed the flickering screen with a punch, then pulled out a blank sheet of paper and carefully picked up a pen.
“Answer me,” he said. “What’s your level of education?”
“Ah?” Omega was stunned.
