“I don’t understand why you would like me,” Wang Xiaoke voiced the confusion in her heart.
She honestly said, “There are so many beautiful girls in your company. I’ve thought about it again and again, and in terms of talent and looks, I don’t have enough to attract you.”
Song Yi curled his lips into a bright smile and ambiguously said, “Doesn’t it seem romantic that I fell in love with you at first sight, my dear wife?”
Wang Xiaoke rolled her eyes at him. She wasn’t stupid. She might have believed in love at first sight when she was younger, but after the experience with Lu Ming, she had learned a lesson: when someone is too nice without reason, they usually have an agenda.
“I trust my instincts more,” Wang Xiaoke said.
“Oh? And what does your instinct tell you?” Song Yi asked, unable to hide his curiosity.
Wang Xiaoke replied seriously, “Unless you’re blind, or all the women in the world have died, there’s no way you’d think like that.”
“I see,” Song Yi smiled like a fox. “So it turns out you don’t dislike me, but rather you’re insecure.” His smile was sly. “But that’s okay. I will always like you, so you don’t need to feel inferior in front of me or unable to hold your head high.”
Wang Xiaoke: … She felt something was wrong with his words, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was.
“Everything you said sounds fine, but I also have some conditions,” Wang Xiaoke handed over the agreement in her hand.
Song Yi raised an eyebrow. “Go ahead. If it’s reasonable, I might consider it.”
Wang Xiaoke cleared her throat. “First, without my consent, you are not allowed to casually share my personal matters. Otherwise, don’t blame me for turning hostile.” She swung the fist she had tightly clenched in front of Song Yi to demonstrate her deterrent power.
“And the second?” Song Yi remained unmoved, as if he were watching a performance.
“Second, without my consent, you are not allowed to touch or act inappropriately. Otherwise, if I accidentally injure you, you’ll have to bear the consequences.”
Wang Xiaoke was quite confident in her physical abilities. She actually meant that she would cover the medical expenses herself, since she was already overwhelmed with debts and couldn’t afford more. But saying it like that would be quite embarrassing, so she changed her words at the last minute.
Song Yi listened attentively, and Wang Xiaoke continued, “Lastly, if something requires both of us to do it together, you must notify me in advance and get my consent before proceeding.”
Song Yi raised an eyebrow and asked, “For example…?”
“Like holding hands, kissing, things like that.” Wang Xiaoke answered without even thinking.
“Alright, I agree to your terms.” Song Yi said, surprisingly agreeing without hesitation.
Seeing the strange look Wang Xiaoke gave him, Song Yi’s eyes, full of affection, seemed to send a bolt of electricity right through her.
Wang Xiaoke felt her head spinning. When Song Yi acted playful, he was truly a demon.
Then Song Yi’s voice came again, “After all, a man as handsome as your husband is rare. I believe you have good taste.” His words were full of smugness.
Assistant Lin Xun worked with remarkable efficiency and soon delivered the modified agreement, officially making this strange prenuptial agreement effective.
Not long after Wang Xiaoke returned to her workstation, her phone suddenly rang with a harsh ringtone. When she looked at the screen, it was an entirely unfamiliar number.
“Hello, who is this?” Wang Xiaoke answered the phone without thinking.
“Wang Xiaoke, where’s the hospital and medical fees we agreed on yesterday? Another day is passing, are you planning to default on the payment?” Chen Ze’s voice came through the phone like a deathly messenger, sounding as menacing as ever.
