Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 20 – Introduction to Future Partners

“Other than her, who else in the house has the ability to beat someone up like that? This child, honestly! If she came back, she came back—what’s so shameful about being seen by others? After all, this is still her home. Why would she lash out and hurt someone just because she was spotted?” Wang Chengyao sighed, already preparing excuses for his daughter. Little did he know, the reason Chen Ze ended up in the hospital was purely an accidental coincidence.

“Xiaoke never used to resort to violence so easily. It seems the matter with Ningning has affected her deeply, causing a drastic change in her personality,” Feng Jin said with worry, her face full of guilt. “Chengyao, this is really Ningning’s fault. If she had handled things differently, maybe Xiaoke wouldn’t have ended up clashing with you like this.”

“Xiaojin, what are you saying? Ningning and Lu Ming truly love each other. As their elders, we should be blessing their relationship, not indulging in Xiaoke just because she’s my daughter. That wouldn’t be fair to Ningning.” Wang Chengyao held her hand gently. “You know that love cannot be forced. The real issue is that Xiaoke fell for someone she shouldn’t have liked in the first place.”

“But seeing Xiaoke in her current state makes me feel just as bad as you do. That child is naturally sensitive, and after everything she’s been through, I don’t know if she can work through it on her own. What if she does something reckless?” Feng Jin said anxiously, her concern so genuine that even if Wang Xiaoke were standing before her, she wouldn’t doubt her sincerity.

Wang Chengyao nodded in agreement. “That’s a valid concern. Xiaoke’s greatest flaw is her tendency to overthink. It seems the priority now isn’t just getting her to come home obediently but also finding something to distract her and shift her focus.”

Feng Jin’s eyebrows twitched slightly at his words, but she hesitated to speak. Wang Chengyao, being well-acquainted with his perceptive wife, immediately noticed her hesitation and guessed that she must have some ideas. However, considering that Wang Xiaoke wasn’t her biological daughter, she likely felt it was inappropriate to interfere too much.

“Xiaojin, we’ve been married for so many years. If you have something on your mind, just say it. No need to overthink or hold back,” Wang Chengyao said directly.

He held Feng Jin tenderly in his arms, speaking with deep affection, “Xiaoke is my daughter, that’s true. But you’re now a part of this family too, and every bit of care you’ve shown for her hasn’t gone unnoticed by me.”

“I just feel that my idea is still immature, so I hesitated to bring it up,” Feng Jin said with a soft smile. “But since you’ve said this, not saying it would make it seem like I’m distancing myself from you. Just remember, no laughing at me, okay?” She couldn’t help but lay some groundwork for herself.

Wang Chengyao, knowing his wife’s gentle and virtuous nature, also understood her cautious approach when it came to dealing with his daughter. He reassured her warmly, “We’re just brainstorming here. Whether the idea works or not is another matter entirely. What we think might be a good idea might not sit well with that girl—but we won’t know unless we give it a try, right?”

After a moment of thought, Feng Jin said, “Alright then. Isn’t there a saying among young people these days? The best way to get over one relationship is to throw yourself into another. I was thinking, could we start from this angle and help Xiaoke find her own true love?”

“You’re suggesting we find someone suitable for Xiaoke to shift her focus and help her move on?” Wang Chengyao asked in return.

Feng Jin could tell from his expression that her plan was likely to succeed, but she still said modestly, “Of course, this is just my personal opinion. It’s not fully formed yet.”

“No, I think your idea is excellent. Xiaoke isn’t young anymore; it’s high time we find her a good match. Not only will this help her heal from her heartbreak, but it will also benefit her future life,” Wang Chengyao said, becoming more convinced as he thought it through, making the decision on the spot.

“Do you have someone suitable in mind, then?” Feng Jin asked, probing carefully.

Wang Chengyao, being more business-oriented, wasn’t particularly skilled at matchmaking. He sifted through his mind but couldn’t come up with any suitable candidates.

After pondering for a moment, he said, “You’re more connected with the social circles of the ladies and young women. You probably know better than I do about any outstanding young men in their families. I’ll have to leave this matter to you.”

“Alright then,” Feng Jin replied, her face still adorned with a gentle smile. However, a fleeting glint of malice flashed through her eyes.
