Wife, please take responsibility.
Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 29 – Stick to the Facts

Song Yi spoke very directly, without leaving any room for ambiguity. “The most important thing for a person is self-awareness. I hope you remember what I just said.”

Xiao Ling stood there, her face drained of color. Being publicly slapped in the face was already humiliating, but being scolded by the person she secretly admired was even worse. She felt so ashamed she wished she could crawl into a hole.

“It seems that filming won’t be able to proceed normally today,” Song Yi said. “Everyone, let’s go back and adjust yourselves. We’ll continue tomorrow. You’ve all worked hard.”

Seeing that even his superior had spoken, Director Zheng looked at Xiao Ling’s state of mind and realized she couldn’t continue, so he didn’t say anything further.

“Actually, we can’t blame Xiao Ling entirely. You embarrassed her in front of everyone. She’s just a girl; she couldn’t handle it,” Wang Xiaoke said, looking at Song Yi, who was sitting across from her.

Wang Xiaoke still felt the need to speak up, considering how Song Yi had scolded such a beautiful woman so harshly. Even though Xiao Ling’s costume was ruined by someone else, Xiao Ling did have a point. Wang Xiaoke did bear some responsibility for the mishap due to her inadequate supervision.

“I’m just stating the facts,” Song Yi replied calmly.

His handsome face, under the sunlight, was particularly striking, and his eyes, filled with tender affection, gazed steadily at Wang Xiaoke.

Is he some kind of reincarnated demon? Wang Xiaoke couldn’t help but think to herself.

Song Yi’s gaze was intense, and Wang Xiaoke felt a bit uneasy under his stare.

She swallowed hard, then stammered, “W-what’s wrong?”

“My dear wife,” Song Yi said very seriously, “now is our time to date. Time is precious, so don’t bring work-related matters into our personal business.”

“But…” Wang Xiaoke hesitated for a moment before responding truthfully, “I was involved in today’s incident too.”

Song Yi, who already knew some of the details, merely raised his attractive eyebrows and asked, with a playful look, “So what you’re saying is that you want to use me to get an advantage?”

“It’s not that, I just wanted to ask in advance what kind of actions the company will take regarding me,” Wang Xiaoke said in a small voice, clearly feeling guilty.

“Right now, you can only be considered as Director Zheng’s personal assistant, so the company can’t directly take any action against you. However, you’ll still be responsible for the cleaning cost of the costumes.”

“Rather than paying money, I’d prefer the company just fire me,” Wang Xiaoke said, almost in tears.

She was basically working for free under Director Zheng; with her as a free helper, Director Zheng would certainly not fire her easily. But the mess she had made was something she would have to deal with herself. Didn’t Director Zheng barely scold her today? That was already showing a lot of favor.

Wang Xiaoke lay on the table like a sick cat.

“Honey, if you don’t have the money, I can front it for you,” Song Yi said.

Wang Xiaoke immediately perked up; right now, describing her as loving money would be an understatement.

Her big almond eyes glistened with excitement, and she eagerly grabbed his long hand. “Song Yi, are you serious?” she asked with a hopeful expression.

Song Yi stood still, his face unchanged, allowing her to hold his hand. He nodded his noble head.

“Song Yi, you’re such a good person,” Wang Xiaoke said, looking at him as if he were a towering figure in her eyes. “Don’t worry, I’ll pay you back as soon as possible.”

“Honey, what are you saying? Whatever’s mine in the future will be yours.”

Wang Xiaoke remained noncommittal, “You trust me that much? Aren’t you afraid that I’m after your money? What if I marry you and then run off with the money, and you won’t even have a place to cry?” she joked.

Song Yi, however, rested his chin on one hand, his peach blossom eyes slightly blinking. He curled the corners of his lips into a charming smile and said, “Even if it’s for my money, it’s fine. I trust my own charm and my ability to make money.”

Wang Xiaoke: “…”
