The waitress brought the food to the table and politely said, “These are the dishes you ordered. Please enjoy.”
Looking at the table full of delicious food, Wang Xiaoke suddenly remembered that she hadn’t eaten properly all day. Earlier, her attention had been diverted by other things, so she hadn’t felt hungry. But now, seeing all this food, she was starving and could almost see stars.
“Let’s eat first,” she suggested.
Heaven knows what she has been through today. She hadn’t had a single bite of food all day. The fact that she had managed to hold on until now was already a miracle.
“If you’re hungry, then eat more,” Song Yi said, elegantly picking up his knife and fork, cutting a piece of beef, only to see Wang Xiaoke, like a hungry wolf, devour half the food on her plate.
Although Song Yi was composed and steady, watching Wang Xiaoke eat so ravenously made him pause in surprise.
“Darling, how long has it been since you’ve eaten?” he asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.
Wang Xiaoke’s cheeks were puffed out, looking like a hamster. She briefly spared some attention, holding up one finger, and said, “One day.”
“Slow down, there’s no one trying to steal your food,” Song Yi said, genuinely worried she might choke.
Wang Xiaoke had already finished her portion and was now staring at his plate.
Song Yi: “…”
“Here, you can have some of mine.” Under her intense gaze, Song Yi’s lips twitched as he passed his food over.
“Isn’t that a bit much?” Wang Xiaoke smiled awkwardly, saying polite words, but her hands had already eagerly reached for it.
Song Yi: “…”
“Is there anything else you’d like to eat? I’ll order it for you.”
“Order whatever, don’t worry about me,” Wang Xiaoke mumbled, her cheeks still puffed out, her hands never stopping.
Song Yi called over the waiter and ordered a pizza and two different-flavored steaks.
He sighed helplessly, “I was worried this wouldn’t be romantic enough, but now it seems I was overthinking.”
“Actually, for a date, the most important thing is to make the person feel relaxed and happy,” Wang Xiaoke said.
“Then, if I’m not mistaken, you’re feeling pretty relaxed and happy now.”
Wang Xiaoke nodded confidently.
“Then, my dear wife, please enjoy your meal. I’ll go to the restroom for a moment,” Song Yi said, standing up elegantly.
Not far away, however, a pair of eyes were watching them.
When Feng Ning and Lu Ming entered the restaurant, the first thing Feng Ning noticed was Wang Xiaoke sitting at the table.
What is Wang Xiaoke doing here?
At first, she thought she had made a mistake, but when she saw that the man sitting across from Wang Xiaoke was Song Yi, her surprise deepened. When had these two gotten together? Feng Ning couldn’t figure it out.
She quietly tugged on Lu Ming’s sleeve, signaling him to look over.
“Xiaoke, what are you doing here?” Lu Ming asked as he and Feng Ning approached Wang Xiaoke. The way the two of them were so close together made it hard for Wang Xiaoke to believe they weren’t deliberately showing off.
Wang Xiaoke swallowed the food in her mouth before speaking, “If you two can be here, why can’t I?”
Wang Xiaoke’s tone wasn’t very friendly. Since she had seen the true colors of these two, every time she encountered them, their interactions were far from polite.
Lu Ming was at a loss for words, his throat stuck by her response. He still felt a little guilty about his previous actions toward Wang Xiaoke.
Feng Ning, however, couldn’t tolerate being mocked. She sneered and said, “Wang Xiaoke, I didn’t expect it. You act all innocent and pure on the surface, but secretly, you’re just out here seducing men.”
Whether it was jealousy or envy, her words were sharp and malicious.
Wang Xiaoke calmly took a sip of red wine without saying anything.
“Don’t deny it. I saw the man just now. He’s Song Yi, right? Who would have thought you’d hook up with your own boss? No wonder he defended you so much on set today—turns out, you two are together!”
“You shouldn’t always blame me and Lu Ming for what happened to you,” Feng Ning continued in a sarcastic tone, “When did you start seeing Song Yi? Who knows who owes who an apology here!”
