Wife, please take responsibility.
Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 42 – Life Without Hope

“You’d better disappear from my sight right now, or I can’t be sure of what I’ll do next,” Chen Xiao said, his face dark and tense.

“My gut feeling tells me that, as a gentleman, you’re actually quite helpful. Just be magnanimous and help me out,” Wang Xiaoke batted her big, round eyes at him, hopeful.

“The only thing I want to do right now is to get you out of my sight,” Chen Xiao grumbled, irritably taking a big gulp of his coffee to calm his boiling anger.

“I haven’t even said what I need yet, and you’re telling me to leave,” Wang Xiaoke said, her cheeks flushed, feigning embarrassment. “You were just saying you wanted to hop into bed with me a moment ago.”

Chen Xiao nearly dropped his cup in shock at her words. “Are you insane?” he snapped, annoyed.

Wang Xiaoke looked at him with big, innocent eyes.

“Don’t look at me like that; it’s giving me goosebumps. While I’m not regretting it yet, you’d better leave now,” Chen Xiao added coldly, rubbing his arms.

“I haven’t even asked you for a favor yet, and you’re already telling me to go away,” Wang Xiaoke pouted, looking hurt.

“I’m not interested in whether you live or die at this point,” Chen Xiao said, slamming his hand down on the table, his voice rising. “Wang Xiaoke, don’t push your luck.”

Wang Xiaoke’s primary goal right now was to take a photo with this guy in front of her to reassure her father and help him recover from his illness.

Seeing that the “beauty trap” had failed and instead seemed to make the other party intensely uncomfortable, Wang Xiaoke felt helpless.

Since the soft approach wasn’t working, it seemed she had no choice but to use force. With her mind made up, Wang Xiaoke immediately put her plan into action.

Across the table, Wang Xiaoke’s hand moved like lightning. Grabbing the other person’s collar, she yanked him over in one swift motion.

“Wang Xiaoke, what are you doing?” Chen Xiao, unable to dodge in time, was pulled toward her.

Then, an even more shocking sight unfolded before his eyes—Wang Xiaoke’s harmless-looking face was now getting closer to his.

“What are you doing? Don’t get so close!” Chen Xiao had a horrified expression.

He sneered, “You were pretending to be a pure, chaste woman just now, and now your true, promiscuous nature is showing.”

“Your mouth really needs a slap,” Wang Xiaoke said, reaching for him with her other hand.

Chen Xiao thought she was going to hit him again, so he decided to strike first, pushing her away. “Get off me! Do you really think my patience means you can bully me?”

He pushed, pushed, pushed—why wasn’t she moving?

His push didn’t budge Wang Xiaoke at all. Instead, it left him in a more awkward situation.

He stared at her hand, which was gripping him like a vice, speechless for a moment. “Wang Xiaoke, are you even a woman? How do you have this much strength?”

“I’ve trained,” Wang Xiaoke replied proudly.

Chen Xiao, resigned, closed his eyes, already preparing himself for the possibility of being disfigured.

“Don’t worry, I still have use for the other half of your handsome face,” Wang Xiaoke said, pulling out her phone. “Be good, just take a photo with me.”

Chen Xiao felt his male pride being trampled into the dirt by this woman.

“Hey, this won’t work, my face is all distorted.”

Wang Xiaoke checked the photo and, dissatisfied, glanced at the resigned Chen Xiao before deleting it and starting over.
