“What are you going to do now?” Chen Xiao said warily, about to get up.
Wang Xiaoke was quick, pressing him back down into his seat. “I still haven’t gotten my photo yet. You’re not getting away.”
“Wang Xiaoke, don’t go too far,” Chen Xiao gritted his teeth.
“It’s just a small favor. You’re a grown man, don’t be so petty,” Wang Xiaoke said, slapping him on the shoulder with exaggerated enthusiasm. “Let’s take another one.”
“Click!” Wang Xiaoke quickly snapped another photo.
“Ugh, still not right,” she glanced at Chen Xiao and said, “Hey, turn your head. You can’t have the swollen side showing. How am I supposed to explain this to my dad?”
“Enough! I didn’t come here to be your joke,” Chen Xiao clenched his fists, ready to explode with anger.
“Mind your image, Mr. Handsome Chen,” Wang Xiaoke said, leaning close to his ear and whispering, “A whole group of beautiful women is watching you. If you lose control, your image as the public heartthrob might be ruined.”
Chen Xiao took a deep breath, growling, “I’m about to become a fool, and I’m still worried about some damn image!”
Wang Xiaoke knew she was about to push him too far and quickly extended a finger, saying sweetly, “Just one last photo. If you don’t agree, I’ll make a scene right here.”
“Do as you please!” Chen Xiao had lost all patience with this woman. He stood up, about to leave.
Seeing he was serious, Wang Xiaoke panicked and threw herself at his leg, pleading loudly, “Xiao, don’t leave me! I can’t live without you, and neither can the baby in my belly…”
A group of women in the café turned their eyes toward them, gossiping.
Chen Xiao, as if frozen by some spell, stood stiffly. “Wang Xiaoke, are you crazy? What is this?”
“If you dare to leave, I’ll tell everyone I’m pregnant with your child, but you heartlessly abandoned me and hooked up with some other vixen,” Wang Xiaoke said, winking at him slyly, clearly provoking him.
Chen Xiao snorted dismissively, “Do you think this is a TV drama? Who would believe that?”
“You can try,” Wang Xiaoke said confidently, “Let’s see if the girls here believe you or believe me, the weak one.”
“You’re ruthless,” Chen Xiao muttered, closing his eyes and gritting his teeth. “Fine, just the last photo.”
“I always keep my promises, don’t worry about that,” Wang Xiaoke said, patting her chest in assurance. “But once we’re done, you’d better make sure I never run into you again, or don’t blame me for being rude.”
Chen Xiao had become immune to her threats, so he just ignored them.
After being dragged around by Wang Xiaoke, Chen Xiao didn’t want to stay in the café any longer, so he took her to the park across the street.
“Please, you’re a grown man, and you can’t smile? You look like you’re about to cry! People might think I did something to you.”
While fiddling with her phone, Wang Xiaoke teased him, saying, “Give me a smile.”
“I’m not here to entertain you,” Chen Xiao snapped, swatting her hand away impatiently.
Wang Xiaoke looked at his long face and instantly knew that if her father, Wang Chengyao, saw him like this, he would probably be heartbroken over her lack of emotional intelligence.
“Are you going to smile or not?”
