Wife, please take responsibility.
Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 50 – Taking the Initiative

“If your girlfriend doesn’t like watching movies, I have another trick up my sleeve,” Lin Xun volunteered enthusiastically, eager to please his boss.

Song Yi raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.

Emboldened by the response, Lin Xun explained, “Cater to her interests. As long as you have common topics to talk about, you’ll always have opportunities to make a move.”

“That makes sense,” Song Yi said, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

After a moment of contemplation, he added, “Assistant Lin, find me some books on horror themes, and also ones on handling corpses. Yes, handling corpses.”

Lin Xun nearly dropped his jaw to the floor. “President Song, are you… okay?”

Why would a perfectly normal person suddenly want to read such things? Could it be that his boss was mentally unstable, perhaps plotting to destroy evidence after committing a crime?

“I’m perfectly fine, but thank you for your concern,” Song Yi replied with a frown, staring at him for a moment before realizing what Lin Xun must be thinking.

“So, what exactly do you need these books for?” Lin Xun asked hesitantly, still uneasy.

“To find common topics of conversation,” Song Yi said flatly.

Lin Xun froze, then recalled his own suggestion from earlier. It all made sense now. “President Song, the woman you’re pursuing must be quite… unique!” Lin Xun forced a laugh, though inwardly he was still rattled. Just how intense must her personality be to have such dark and peculiar interests?

“By the way, President Song, here are the plane tickets, passport, and documents you’ll need for this business trip,” Lin Xun said, handing over a prepared folder.

“I got it,” Song Yi said, motioning for Lin Xun to set the materials down.

“Should I get those books ready for today?”

“Just have them ready for when I get back from the trip,” Song Yi replied after a moment’s thought. He decided it was better to handle work first and deal with Wang Xiaoke later. After all, capturing her heart wasn’t something that could be rushed.

Meanwhile, Wang Xiaoke had settled back into her family home, with her father as her newfound shield. The financial troubles that had plagued her before were all resolved.

Since that day, Chen Ze had stopped harassing her with absurd demands for sky-high compensation, and Song Yi hadn’t contacted her either. For the first time in a while, she felt as though her life was back to its carefree and relaxed pace. She was deeply satisfied.

The only downside was her father, Wang Chengyao, who seemed overly concerned about her romantic life. Every day, he would ask about her progress with Chen Xiao.

Wang Xiaoke suspected her father had been influenced by Feng Jin’s whispers, but she couldn’t lash out. Their father-daughter relationship had only recently been restored, so she bit her tongue and gave vague responses.

As for the true intentions of Feng Jin and her daughter, Wang Xiaoke wasn’t clueless. It was obvious they were after the family assets. However, as long as they didn’t take any overt actions, Wang Xiaoke couldn’t gather any concrete evidence against them. For now, all she could do was wait for them to slip up.

Even if those two women tried something, Wang Xiaoke trusted her father wouldn’t let them get away with being too brazen. When that time came, it would be her opportunity to strike back.

After days of deliberation, Wang Xiaoke decided to take the initiative. Her enemies had numbers and influence, while she was currently alone and powerless. If she didn’t act now, she might end up crushed without even realizing how she lost.

The incident with Lu Ming had been a harsh lesson. Without that accidental video, she might have already lost her life. She didn’t want to live in such a muddled way any longer.

“Dad, I’ve been bored staying at home. Can I go to the company to help out?”
