“How did you suddenly decide you wanted to work at Wang Corporation?” Wang Chengyao eyed his daughter with suspicion.
“After staying out for a few days, I also tried to find some jobs, but with little experience, I was eventually fired from all of them. So after coming back, I realized I can’t keep drifting through life aimlessly. I need to build myself up so that others don’t look down on me,” Wang Xiaoke said, tightening her fists and speaking with determined energy.
Only then did Wang Chengyao’s suspicions ease. He wondered how his daughter suddenly seemed so mature; it must have been due to the setbacks she’d faced outside. Thinking back, he felt these events had ultimately done her more good than harm.
“Mm, I’m glad you think that way, Dad,” Wang Chengyao said, feeling a sense of relief.
Wang Xiaoke’s spirits lifted. “So, Dad, does this mean you agree?”
“As long as you’re serious about wanting to work, of course, I’m not opposed.”
“I just knew you were the best, Dad.” Wang Xiaoke suddenly hugged his arm, pouting slightly.
“Don’t get too excited too soon. Dad has a few conditions that haven’t been mentioned yet,” Wang Chengyao added.
“You can tell me,” Wang Xiaoke said, already feeling confident that things were about 80% in her favor.
“First, you don’t have much experience, so you’ll need to start from the very bottom. Can you handle that?” he asked, his tone serious.
“Since I’ve already decided this, I’m prepared for whatever comes,” Wang Xiaoke replied confidently.
“Good,” Wang Chengyao said, making sure she wasn’t just making a rash decision. “Only after you’ve familiarized yourself with the entire operation at Wang Corporation will I feel secure handing over the company to you.”
“Second, during your time at Wang Corporation, Dad won’t give you any special treatment. You need to understand that you’re no different from anyone else, okay?”
Wang Xiaoke nodded seriously.
“Third, you cannot reveal that you’re my daughter. Can you abide by these three conditions?”
Wang Xiaoke understood that her father set these rules to better train her abilities, so she readily promised, “I will strictly adhere to these agreements.”
“Good. You truly are my daughter. I believe you can do well,” Wang Chengyao said.
“However, Dad, I can only ensure that I won’t disclose my identity, but if someone else accidentally lets it slip, that’s not my responsibility,” Wang Xiaoke said with a smirk.
“Alright, alright, you’re so clever,” Wang Chengyao said, knowing exactly who she meant. “I’ll remind Aunt Feng about it.”
Wang Xiaoke knew that even if she didn’t fully follow these rules, Wang Chengyao wouldn’t have many options. He might just feel disappointed in her.
But that wasn’t the outcome she wanted. Besides not wanting Feng Jin and her daughter to laugh at her, she also wanted to prove something to herself.
She wanted Lu Ming to see that even without him, Wang Xiaoke could still live well—better than before. The joke-like version of Wang Xiaoke no longer existed. In her place was a new version, one who yearned to stand on her own. She would work hard to become a daughter that Wang Chengyao could be proud of.
Outside the study, Feng Jin listened closely, her face dark and unpredictable.
She never expected that the usually passive Wang Xiaoke, who had been easily manipulated, would become so cunning. Now, she even planned to join Wang Corporation.
It was a good idea. At such a young age, trying to cultivate her own influence within the company, Feng Jin thought with a sneer. But she would need the ability to pull it off.
