On the other side, Feng Jin and her daughter were also scheming to take over Wang Corporation.
Over the past few days, Feng Jin had been extremely busy, constantly shuttling between the senior management of Wang Corporation to lay the groundwork for taking over the company.
That evening, she called her daughter, Feng Ning, who was still on a film set.
“Mom, I’m really busy right now. What’s the matter?” Feng Ning’s sweet voice came through the phone.
Although Feng Jin was exhausted, her spirits were high. She replied, “Ning, Chengyao is down for the count now. I’m preparing to take over Wang Corporation, and I want to bring you in during tomorrow’s shareholders’ meeting.”
“Mom, you should have done this a long time ago. That old Wang man is nothing but a man in a coma now and might end up being a burden on us. It’s better to take advantage of this opportunity and grab whatever benefits we can before it’s too late to regret,” Feng Ning said bluntly. “Don’t worry, I’ll attend the meeting on time.”
“Alright, I’ll hang up now.” Feng Ning ended the call without hesitation, showing zero concern for Wang Chengyao’s well-being. To her, that man was merely someone her mother had found to exploit for their gain.
Feng Jin, however, added a final piece of advice, “Even though Chengyao is unlikely to wake up, you should still visit him when you can. After all, the entertainment industry is full of prying eyes. You don’t want to give others something to gossip about.”
Although Feng Ning and Wang Chengyao were not related by blood, she had stayed with the Wang family for years and received their care. Feng Jin felt it necessary to remind her daughter to maintain appearances.
“Mom, I know what I’m doing. Don’t worry,” Feng Ning replied. “Right now, your top priority is to take over Wang Corporation before Wang Xiaoke regains her footing.”
As Feng Ning spoke, a deep, magnetic voice came from behind her. “Ning, what happened to the Wang family?”
Startled, Feng Ning turned around to see who it was.
Just then, Lu Ming stepped out of the hotel bathroom, his hair still damp and exuding a faint mist. His sword-like eyebrows framed starry eyes, and his tall, lean physique was perfectly complemented by his sharply defined features. He wore nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, exposing his toned muscles and an impressively defined eight-pack. The sheer masculinity and strength he exuded made him irresistibly captivating.
Feng Ning found herself unconsciously drawn to the primal allure of the man before her.
“The old Wang man had a car accident,” she said, showing no reservations in front of her lover.
Lu Ming paused for a moment, surprised. “When did it happen? How serious is it?”
“He was sent to the hospital three days ago,” Feng Ning replied nonchalantly, as if discussing something trivial. Her expression remained indifferent. “He’ll probably spend the rest of his life lying in a hospital bed.”
“That serious?”
Lu Ming’s eyebrows furrowed in astonishment. Briefly, a fleeting image of Wang Xiaoke’s modest but delicate face crossed his mind. How was she holding up? However, the thought vanished almost as quickly as it came.
“My mom is planning to seize this opportunity to take over Wang Corporation,” Feng Ning continued.
Lu Ming’s mind immediately began calculating. The Chen Corporation’s large order, coupled with Wang Chengyao’s sudden incapacitation—could the Lu Corporation exploit this situation to swallow Wang Corporation in one fell swoop?
As he weighed the pros and cons, his expression turned contemplative. Finally, he pulled Feng Ning into his arms, his deep and gentle voice whispering near her ear, “That could work. If you successfully take over Wang Corporation, you can rest assured about Chen Corporation’s order. I’ll take care of the problem for you.”
