“I noticed you haven’t been in great shape these past few days, so I thought you should take some time to rest,” Feng Jin said softly, her face adorned with a smile full of maternal kindness and concern. To outsiders, she appeared to be the epitome of a gentle and virtuous mother.
But Wang Xiaoke knew better. This woman was simply putting on an act. If she truly cared about her and her father, why hadn’t she shown up in the past few days? Obviously, she’d been busy squeezing as many benefits as she could from the Wang Corporation.
“Thank you for your concern, Aunt Feng, but…” Wang Xiaoke spun gracefully in place and stopped in front of Feng Jin. Waving her hand with a smile, she said provocatively, “As you can see, I’m perfectly fine now, so there’s no need for you to worry.”
“That’s good to hear. I’m genuinely happy to see you back on your feet,” Feng Jin replied with a faint smile. Although she was certain Xiaoke’s appearance here meant trouble, her outward demeanor remained flawless.
“You’ve been quite busy lately, Aunt Feng! I haven’t seen you at all these days. If you’re really concerned, why not visit my father in the hospital more often? Although he can’t speak now, I’m sure he still thinks about you quite a lot.”
Feng Jin finally took a closer look at Wang Xiaoke. The undertone in her words was unmistakably hostile, clearly signaling she wasn’t here to make peace.
As expected, Xiaoke continued, her voice laced with implication, “As for who should take over Wang Corporation, I believe I should have a say in the matter.”
Feng Ning, who had been watching her mother’s efforts over the past few days come close to fruition, was incensed by this unexpected disruption. She could no longer hold back her anger and snapped, “Wang Xiaoke, what’s that supposed to mean? Are you suggesting you want to take over Wang Corporation yourself?”
“I am the largest shareholder of Wang Corporation after my father. Since he built it from the ground up, why shouldn’t I take over?” Xiaoke replied calmly, her intent crystal clear—she was indeed aiming to take over the company.
“You must be joking!” Feng Ning scoffed, her face flushed with anger. “You’re like a naive calf that doesn’t fear tigers. Do you even know how to run a company? Stop bragging if you know nothing about business. The corporate world isn’t child’s play, and no one’s going to clean up your mess if you screw things up.”
Unfazed, Xiaoke countered, “How would you know I can’t do it if I haven’t tried?”
Feng Ning was livid at Xiaoke’s arrogance. She had always hated this woman’s self-assured attitude, especially since she had stolen Lu Ming from her in the past. Where did she get her sense of superiority?
“Wang Xiaoke, this is a shareholders’ meeting, not a place for your baseless claims,” Feng Ning snapped.
“Ahem… Miss Wang, while your father’s situation is indeed unfortunate, taking over Wang Corporation is no trivial matter,” interjected one of the shareholders, an old fox whom Feng Jin had been trying hard to win over. He had been quietly observing the drama unfold but now saw an opportunity to curry favor with Feng Jin. If she were to take over Wang Corporation, his gesture would only benefit him.
“Vice President Feng has always been dedicated to Wang Corporation, and her abilities are evident to all. I believe she’s the most suitable candidate to take on the role of president.”
