Wife, please take responsibility.
Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 63 – Waiting and Watching

“Exactly, exactly. This concerns the future development of Wang Corporation. How can you take over the position just because you’re Mr. Wang’s daughter? That would be far too reckless,” chimed in others who had been swayed by Feng Jin before.

After all, whether in terms of personal or professional ability, Feng Jin was far more strategic and capable than Wang Xiaoke. Letting someone like Feng Jin take over Wang Corporation was undoubtedly better than leaving it to a naive little girl to ruin.

“I’m not trying to cling to the CEO position just because of my father’s status. But from my perspective, simply pushing someone into this role doesn’t necessarily align with their capabilities,” Wang Xiaoke replied calmly.

“Miss Wang, are you implying that we, who’ve spent our entire lives in this industry, are just blind and useless sandbags?” a shareholder questioned.

Wang Xiaoke turned toward the speaker. He was a short, rotund man with a pair of slanted eyes, a fat face, and a bulbous nose—a typical image of a shrewd businessman.

“Sir, that’s not what I meant. If that’s how you interpret it, there’s nothing I can do about it,” Wang Xiaoke said, maintaining a polite smile.

“You—!” The man was so enraged that the fat on his face quivered. His neck flushed red, and he panted heavily.

Just as he seemed about to erupt, Feng Jin stepped in to smooth things over. “Alright, alright, Mr. Zhao, I appreciate your support, but Xiaoke is still young. There’s no need to stoop to her level.”

Although there was a clear conflict brewing between them over Wang Corporation, they hadn’t reached the point of an open fallout. Feng Jin, mindful of her reputation, didn’t want to be seen as bullying her stepdaughter.

“But Xiaoke is still part of the Wang family and holds 20% of Wang Corporation’s shares. I think her opinion is worth considering,” Feng Jin addressed the group.

“As everyone has mentioned, taking over Wang Corporation requires real capability. I personally agree with that. So the key question on everyone’s mind is whether Xiaoke has what it takes to lead Wang Corporation.”

“So, Aunt Feng, how exactly do you propose I prove my ability?” Wang Xiaoke asked. She didn’t believe for a second that Feng Jin would hand over Wang Corporation so easily.

“Xiaoke, you know that I’m only stepping up because of your father’s sudden accident. Wang Corporation can’t remain leaderless. Out of respect for your father and everyone’s trust in me, I had no choice but to make this decision,” Feng Jin said with a gentle tone.

“But since you’ve expressed your desire to take over, I’m happy to see that. However, this is not child’s play. If you want to lead Wang Corporation, you’ll need to demonstrate your ability.”

“I heard you’ve been working at Wang Corporation recently, so you must be aware of the Chen Group deal. Let’s use that as a test. If you can successfully resolve this crisis and secure the deal, I’ll agree to let you take over Wang Corporation. I believe the others here would have no objections. What do you think?”

Of course, Feng Jin had no intention of letting Xiaoke take over. Her plan was to make her fail miserably and embarrass herself in front of everyone. Watching Xiaoke lose face would make Feng Jin’s victory even sweeter.

“Alright, I accept the challenge,” Wang Xiaoke agreed without hesitation. She desperately needed an opportunity to prove herself.

“Then we’ll wait and see,” said the rotund shareholder with a mocking smile.

“Just don’t cry when you realize you’re nothing but an incompetent fool,” Feng Ning sneered sarcastically.

“Thank you for the warning, Sister, but I won’t let that day come,” Wang Xiaoke replied, not looking at Feng Ning but fixing her gaze on Feng Jin. Their eyes clashed in midair, sparks flying.

She knew everyone here had their own agendas. But relying on others’ goodwill to hand her what she wanted was no different from waiting for someone to put a knife to her throat. That path only led to ruin.
