Wife, please take responsibility.
Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 80 – Extending a Helping Hand

Chen Ze had just opened the car door when a shadow flashed before him, and a figure rushed past like a gust of wind.

Before he could react, someone suddenly pulled him into the car.

“Wang Xiaoke, what are you doing here?” He looked at the woman who had unexpectedly entered his car, surprised.

Wang Xiaoke was curled up in the passenger seat, gently tapping her soft red lips with her index finger. “Shh, don’t speak, just drive.”

The sound of footsteps grew louder, accompanied by muttered curses.

“That woman is really clever, making that pretty boy lead so many of our brothers away.”

“Yeah, if one of our brothers hadn’t noticed something was off, we might have been fooled.”

“We took a big hit this time. If we don’t catch that woman, how can we face our brothers?”

“Exactly! Didn’t you see the boss’s dark face just now? It looked like he was going to kill someone, it was terrifying.”

“Let’s split up and search. If she slips away again, none of us will have a good time.”

Chen Ze listened to these words and began to form a clearer picture in his mind. He glanced at Wang Xiaoke but said nothing and silently pressed the gas pedal.

“Hey, kid, stop!” Several thugs, hearing the noise, surrounded the car.

“What’s the matter?” Chen Ze calmly looked at them and asked nonchalantly.

The thugs were somewhat wary of the young heir from a wealthy family. They peered into the car window, saw no one else inside, and then coughed awkwardly, asking, “Did you see anyone pass by here just now?”

“No,” Chen Ze replied indifferently, rolling up the window and driving away.

The thugs, knowing that rich young men often had bad tempers, were reluctant to cause trouble. They reluctantly held back and let him drive off.

“Bah! What a jerk, just because he has some money, he thinks he’s so great. Acting all high and mighty,” one of the thugs spat on the ground in frustration.

“Forget it, forget it!” another thug urged, “Our main task now is to find that woman.”

The car quickly drove some distance, gradually disappearing from view.

“Okay, come out.” Chen Ze’s voice remained calm and steady.

Wang Xiaoke, who had been hiding in the shadow of the back seat, struggled to climb out.

“Thank you!” she said.

Chen Ze didn’t seem moved by her gratitude. He glanced at her briefly, his sharp lips moved slightly, and he asked, “Who have you offended recently? Why are they chasing you?”

“Well… it’s a long story,” Wang Xiaoke sighed, her voice heavy with a sense of longing, as though she had more to say but chose not to.

Chen Ze continued driving silently, not looking at her. After a long pause, he tentatively spoke again, “I heard about your father. Is it related to the recent issues with the Wang family?”

Only then did Wang Xiaoke relax, her tense state gradually fading. She took a deep breath, savoring the fresh mountain air, and lazily replied, “I guess you could say that.”

“When there’s profit, there’s competition. Some people play by the rules, while others choose to use any means necessary. You’re a business person too, so you should have known this by now.”

Wang Xiaoke curled up in the passenger seat, squinting her eyes and looking completely at ease, giving Chen Ze the impression of a little kitten.

A sudden thought flashed through his mind, and before he realized it, he had already spoken.

“I could lend you a hand, but I’m not sure if you’re willing.”
