Wilderness Livestream Room [Interstellar]
Wilderness Livestream Room | Chapter: 2

[edited]

Su Ge rubbed her ears.

Regarding gossip, she had always thought of it as a kind of unorganized yet universally practiced social activity among humans on Earth, but she never expected it to be so prevalent on the planet Uranus in the Opheus galaxy of the Interstellar Alliance.

Of course, she thought she would be more interested if she wasn’t the subject of this social activity.

Following Mipa from the entrance to the preparation hall of “Wilderness Live Room,” Su Ge felt like she was experiencing the most gossip and attention she had ever received in her life.

“Look, there’s an Earthling!”

“Earth? What’s Earth?”

“Don’t you know? It’s a small and rundown Class V planet that just joined the Interstellar Alliance this year…”

“What! Is the Interstellar Alliance so desperate now that they’re accepting Class V planets?”

“It’s not like that at all. I heard they were chosen by lottery this time. Otherwise, how could they enter the Interstellar Alliance?”

“Oh my god, so this is what Earthlings look like? They look so strange…”

“Yeah, they don’t even have horns or wings, and the scariest part is they don’t even have claws…”

“Yeah, they’re so short, just a bit taller than the Green skinned people… Haha, they’re so short!!”

“From this angle, Earthlings actually look quite similar to people from the Milky Way Galaxy.”

“Are you blind? How can you call that similar? They look nothing alike! Look at the fur on their heads, it’s black, black!!! Oh my god, so unoriginal, so backward!”

“Exactly! And their skin, it doesn’t even have scales! I bet if I fought her, I could tear her apart in one go!”

…

Su Ge rubbed her ears again. Did these aliens really think she was deaf? Even if they wanted to talk about her, couldn’t they use the interstellar common language? I understand it, you know!

With an expressionless face, Su Ge  glanced in the direction of the constantly chattering aliens. They were all over two meters tall and incredibly slender… um… bird people?

Their faces were human like, but their backs and arms were covered in feathers with different gleams. Especially their feet were like claws, and the sharp fingertips gleamed, announcing their fierceness.

Su Ge quickly reviewed in her mind the “Interstellar Encyclopedia” she had been cramming before her arrival. If she remembered correctly, these individuals should be from the planet Bell. From the perspective of Earthlings, it was a planet of birds that hadn’t evolved successfully, but—within the Interstellar Alliance, it was a Class II planet, a world apart from Earth, which barely made it to Class V, like a rural backwater planet.

Thinking about the classification of planets, Su Ge withdrew her attention from the chattering Bell people and continued to follow Mipa forward, while casually listening to her continuous explanations.

Mipa seemed to be a bit of a chatterbox. Along the way, she repeated the basic precautions for the live broadcast over and over again, showing no sign of stopping until Su Ge could recite them backward. However, her chatterbox tendencies finally came to a halt in front of a very tall double door.

Unlike all the high-tech sensor doors passed earlier, this door turned out to be a primitive-looking door that had to be pushed open manually.

Visually, the door was about five meters high, with an extremely elegant design. It was unclear what material the door was made of but it’s emitting a faint white glow, giving a somewhat ethereal feeling. Upon closer inspection, one could see different patterns carved on the two panels of the door, each representing the abbreviated symbols of various planets in the Interstellar Alliance.

As an Earthling, Su Ge instinctively searched for the symbol of Earth on the door. However, after a quick scan, she was disappointed to find that there was no symbol representing Earth here.

It was as if on this planet called Uranus, where the headquarters of the Interstellar Alliance was located, there was no trace of Earth whatsoever.

Mipa turned to look at Su Ge, seemingly reading Su Ge’s thoughts. She pointed to the symbols on the door and said, “In the Interstellar Alliance, there are over three thousand planets of various sizes, but only one-tenth of them have their symbols engraved on this door.”

Su Ge immediately focused all her attention on Mipa, listening as she continued, ‘Do you know the qualifications for leaving your planet’s symbol on these two doors?’

‘Is it… the top three-tiered planets?’ Su Ge pondered slightly, inquiring tentatively.

But Mipa shook her head, ‘Planetary classification is based on a planet’s development, combat power, and financial strength. However, the standard for leaving one’s symbol on this door is one thing: they should have done something that influenced the Interstellar Alliance.’

Su Ge couldn’t help but furrow her brows, feeling conflicted. ‘Isn’t this qualification itself demanding? What kind of actions can be considered as influencing the Interstellar Alliance? And what are the criteria?’

Mipa blinked her unusually large mechanical eyes, then let out a crisp laugh, distinctly characteristic of the Keroite race. ‘The future holds infinite possibilities, Earthling.’

Hey, that’s some high end brainwashing.

With that, she walked to the door, lightly touching the door panel as if verifying something. After a faint light flashed, the two door panels swung open inward, and soft light poured out from within, illuminating Su Ge.

She squinted slightly. Under the light, she felt a brief moment of blindness, but soon she could see clearly the scene behind the door—a bustling and orderly scene that defied description.

Su Ge had seen many introductions about the Interstellar Alliance on Earth, but all descriptions, all words and images, seemed pale and feeble compared to seeing it firsthand.

Mipa lightly clapped her hands and said to Su Ge, ‘Welcome to the Interstellar Alliance’s biggest live variety show, “Wilderness Livestream Room, Earthling.”

Preparation hall.

Although they called it a hall, it resembled more of a parliament of some country. Every setup inside was extremely refined, showing a level beyond the era. The tables in the hall were arranged in a ring, with the production team in the center, while participants from various planets were seated randomly throughout the hall.

Su Ge sat in the last row of the preparation hall. On the table in front of her was a screen the size of an A4 paper displaying her planet of origin and name. Her position was towards the back and in the corner which is extremely inconspicuous. So much so that when all the participants had gathered, the show’s director was still wandering around with a screen, looking for someone, ‘From Earth? No one from Earth has arrived yet!'”

“Here.” Su Ge tugged at the corner of her mouth and shouted to the director.

Little did she expect that her response not only caught the director’s attention but also made everyone in the hall participating in the recording look at her…

Humans like to reflect on themselves, so they often create comics and movies with perspective changes to awaken people. However, Su Ge had never understood what it felt like to be one of the animals in a zoo until now. At this moment, in the eyes of the people from these planets, she probably seemed no different from a monkey in a zoo.

Fortunately, with the director’s following words, soon the people from the various planets participating in the recording retracted their gazes and focused their attention on the screen in front of them.

“According to the rules of our show, before entering the program, we will conduct a test for each of you. Now, a set of test questions will appear on the screen in front of you. We hope everyone can complete the test within the specified time. We will provide basic supplies based on the results of this test.”

“Of course, your personal communicators can connect to the screens in front of you, and it won’t affect the use of your personal communicators. However, if you use your personal communicators to search for answers to the questions… the production team will have corresponding punishments, oh~”

The director smiled as he looked at the twenty participants in the hall, as if he saw a pile of golden coins.

Although the screen in front of her looked much more advanced than those on Earth, Su Ge quickly figured out the operations on it in just a few minutes. However, she encountered a problem when trying to connect with her personal communicator.

“Your communication usage area currently does not have access to the Interstellar Network. Please apply for access permission before proceeding.” A cold, bare prompt appeared on the screen. Su Ge carefully read it once and couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

Seriously? The Interstellar Alliance treats Earth like this. They are still not connected on Earth’s network to the Interstellar Alliance network!

Feeling helpless, Su Ge had no choice but to give up connecting with her personal communicator and started filling out the test seriously on the screen. However, what she didn’t know was that besides her, the screens of the other participants in the test also had communication software aside from the test questions.

This communication software was a crucial one in the entire interstellar network. Every planet that joined the Interstellar Alliance could obtain permission to download and use this software. However, perhaps due to the delayed granting of permissions to Earth by the Interstellar Alliance, Su Ge hadn’t downloaded it yet, or rather, she wasn’t even aware of its existence.

Naturally, she couldn’t communicate with people from other planets through this software.

At this moment, various messages were swiftly flowing through this communication software.

Morning Planet: Is this the Earthling?

Jupiter: The Interstellar Alliance would do anything for ratings! They actually brought in an Earthling to participate in the live broadcast!

Neptune: What’s going on! They actually invited an Earthling to do a live broadcast with us. Don’t we have any dignity? Who knows if doing a program with such a dirty and backward planet will contaminate us!

Riya: What are they thinking? Isn’t it better to look at prosperity? Why choose to look at backwardness?

Helmor Star: Perhaps this is another way to attract attention. After all, none of us have seen such a backward planet before.

Pila Star: You’re overthinking it. Do you really think anyone will watch a live broadcast from Earth?

Lemon Star: Haha, I don’t think anyone will watch either. At most, it’s just the Earthlings supporting themselves every day!

Ronnie Planet: Not necessarily, many people enjoy finding happiness by watching backwardness.

Alrak Star: I can’t wait to see what surprises this Earthling will bring us.

Author’s note: Regarding the names of all the planets and star systems in the book, there are mainly three sources:

1. Some I made up randomly, or directly found on less well-known planets on Baidu.

2. Names of characters or names extracted from Greek mythology.

3. Some are homophones of English words.

To sum up, because I don’t have much knowledge of astronomy, there might be a possibility of names overlapping with real planets, so I solemnly declare: Do not take it literally, do not take it literally, do not take it literally!

This is a book I wrote with wild imagination. Don’t talk to me about physics, chemistry, or scientific principles. There’s no basis in reality to support the fantastical plot of this book, so, nitpickers, back off!!!
