Rain wasn’t anything special for Su Ge, but for the other aliens on the desolate planet, it was indeed a rare occurrence. The reason was simple: within the current Interstellar Alliance, each planet had a protective shield outside, ensuring the best weather inside these shields, such as sunny weather.
Even outside of these shields, on most planets within the Interstellar Alliance, due to advanced technology altering various magnetic fields, it was impossible for them to have weather like rain or wind, let alone severe natural disasters like earthquakes or typhoons.
So, when it started to rain, every alien holding grilled fish was extremely puzzled: “How come there’s water falling from the sky?”
“This isn’t water falling from the sky. This is rain.” Since Su Ge learned from there that even Rong Shi hadn’t seen rain before, Su Ge had become quite calm about the many cognitive differences between Earthlings and aliens.
Like children encountering something they’ve never experienced before, all the aliens became excited. They rushed out from under the shelter of large rocks and joyfully danced in the rain, just like southerners experiencing their first winter in the north.
Unfortunately, this joy didn’t last long because… the rain intensified.
Although the vegetation, creatures, and terrain of desolate planet 756 were very similar to Earth’s, Su Ge still couldn’t be sure if it was exactly the same as Earth. Apart from anything else, just from this rain, one could see the difference.
The rain came very suddenly, without any warning at all, and quickly turned into a downpour, sending the aliens who had just been frolicking in the rain scurrying under rocks for shelter.
Unfortunately, under the rainstorm, the shelter that had seemed safe moments ago became quite dangerous. Rainwater was seeping in from all sides, even dousing their roaring campfire, and the fish they were grilling became nearly invisible in the heavy rain.
“We can’t stay here, let’s move,” Su Ge decisively told everyone as the rain grew heavier.
“What about that cave we passed by earlier?” Rong Shi asked.
They had passed a cave earlier roaming around, which would have been a decent place to spend the night. But at the time, everyone wanted to push forward a bit more, so they had abandoned the idea. Now, looking back, it seemed like the closest and best option for shelter.
“Yes.” Su Ge nodded as she turned back to find Ron, saying to him, “Ron, do you remember that cave? Can you find the way back? I mean the shortest route.”
“No problem.” Ron glanced at the pouring rain, ready to dash into it, but Su Ge quickly stopped him.
She pulled out a long rope from her pack and handed it to Ron, instructing everyone to hold onto it tightly, not to let go. “The rain is too heavy; it will affect visibility. Hold onto the rope tightly, don’t let go, or you might easily get separated from the main group.”
“I’ll take the rear, you guys lead the way in front, and I’ll watch our back.” After everyone had secured their hold on the rope, Rong Shi took the initiative to position himself at the back of the group. “Su Ge, Ron, the lead is yours.”
“No problem.” Compared to the last time Su Ge entrusted him with leading, this time Ron’s agreement seemed more sincere, especially when he gripped the end of the rope. When he looked back and saw all their companions connected by that single rope, an indescribable sense of responsibility settled on his shoulders.
The sense of responsibility he felt was actually a feeling of being needed, and this feeling pushed Ron to take each step seriously. He held onto the rope tightly, braving the downpour as he led the way. He continuously shouted warnings to the others, saying things like, “There’s a rock ahead” or “There’s a fork in the path up ahead.”
Meanwhile, Su Ge, who was walking in the middle of the group, acted as a bridge between the front and the rear. Up front, she had to monitor Ron’s progress, while in the rear, she kept an eye on Rong Shi. She also constantly reminded all the aliens not to lose focus and scanned the surroundings for any danger. Most importantly, if they came across any fallen branches, she made sure to pick them up.
Soon, under Ron’s guidance, they returned to the cave they had passed by in the afternoon.
It was a slightly elevated and a very dry cave, but it seemed to have been the nest of some creature at some point, with a not-so-fresh smell filling the surrounding area.
Fortunately, the cave was quite large, and apart from the strong odor at the bottom that made it unbearable to stay, the other areas were relatively okay.
Thanks to Su Ge’s leadership, aside from Ron leading the way, all the aliens picked up a lot of dry branches and wood. At the moment, they had plenty of materials to light a fire.
However, the outer layer of these branches and wood had been dampened. When they finally managed to light it up, thick smoke filled the air, causing almost everyone to tear up.
When the fire was lit again, everyone felt as if they had just been through a battle, it was that exhausting.
“Zigmadar, did you bring a clay pot?” Su Ge suddenly remembered something.
Zigmadar was currently leaning against the cave wall, panting heavily. The smoke from the fire had almost choked him.
Hearing Su Ge calling his name, he immediately opened his eyes and looked at her, “Yes, I brought it. Do you need it?”
Su Ge did indeed need it. She placed the clay pot on the fire and then poured all the drinking water everyone had brought into the pot. She then took out most of the wild ginger they had collected today, smashed it, and threw it into the pot.
As the water boiled, the ground ginger in the pot began to roll, emitting an extremely spicy aroma.
The aliens stared eagerly at the water in the pot, full of anticipation. In fact, everyone now had this illusion that anything Su Ge made must be very delicious.
In this illusion, Su Ge served each of them a bowl.
Soon, they felt the bitterness of life.
Su Ge calmly watched as everyone wanted to spit it out, calmly saying, “Don’t spit it out, drink it.”
Never offend the cook, especially now. They didn’t even have the right to argue. Although everyone’s gaze at Su Ge was filled with confusion and pain, they obediently drank the ginger soup, sip by sip.
Su Ge also drank the ginger soup from her bottle, “I don’t know about your physical condition, but on Earth, if you don’t drink ginger soup after getting caught in the rain, you’re likely to catch a cold or get a fever. Since there are no medicines here, we can only resort to such makeshift methods.”
Speaking of getting sick, almost everyone thought of Guagaka, who had been sent away right before their eyes. Now, no one found the ginger soup in their bowls unpleasant. In fact, everyone drank it with extra appreciation.
Rong Shi, sitting near Su Ge, looked at the rain pouring outside the cave and asked, “What do you think about the current situation at the base?”
Su Ge had been worrying about this issue as well. She pondered for a moment, shaking her head with concern, “It won’t be too good.”
“Why’s that?”
“Our safety zone isn’t actually located in a high area. It’s above the plain and the forest, which should keep too much rain from getting in.” Su Ge stopped, realizing she needed to clarify what “rainwater pouring in” meant to the aliens.
“You’re not worried about the safety zone, are you?” Ron, who was exceptionally skilled in map-making, had a better understanding of geology than the others. After understanding the direction of the rainwater, he immediately realized where the crisis lay.
Su Ge looked towards Ron but didn’t speak. Instead, Li Ya, who was beside him, asked nervously, “What does it mean? What does Ron mean? What does it mean when Su Ge worries about safety?”
Seeing Su Ge’s silence, Ron sighed and faced the anxious gazes of the others as he explained resignedly, “If I’m not mistaken, Su Ge is worried that the mountain behind us might collapse due to the rain.”
Ron’s words instantly made everyone tense, especially Yilan, who lived near the mountains. She grabbed Ron and asked urgently, “Will it definitely collapse?”
“I don’t know,” Ron glanced at Su Ge, who shook her head. “I don’t know, I just have this concern.”
But at this moment, Ron firmly shook his head and said, “It won’t.”
At a time like this, any affirmative statement would bring hope to everyone. Ron’s assurance eased their mood somewhat, but he himself seemed unusually heavy-hearted. He lowered his head for a moment before saying, “There won’t be a large-scale collapse, but there might be some falling rocks or land sliding down, that’s for sure.”
“Oh no! Meng is still at the camp, and his leg is injured!” Lana suddenly stood up; her worry was evident in her words. “There’s no one in the camp! What will he do in this heavy rain?”
“Don’t worry, Flynn is there, and so is Saro,” Abing suddenly spoke up.
Saro was fine, but when Flynn’s name was mentioned, Su Ge couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth imperceptibly.
Abing seemed to sense the estrangement between Flynn and everyone else. She forced a smile, her expression somewhat strained, but still very firm as she repeated, “Flynn is actually a very responsible person. You, you shouldn’t misunderstand him.”
That night, the rain outside the cave continued to patter continuously. Such heavy rain didn’t excite the aliens anymore; instead, they realized the various dire situations it brought. No one slept soundly.
When Rong Shi woke up, he found Su Ge still sitting by the campfire, quietly gazing into the distance outside the cave.
“What are you thinking about?” Actually, since the rain started, Rong Shi had noticed Su Ge’s was not in a very good mood. Now, it was evident she hadn’t slept, or if she did, it wasn’t for long.
Su Ge, tilting her head slightly, glanced at Rong Shi, her voice tinged with unmistakable fatigue. “I’m thinking, when will this rain stop?”
Following Su Ge’s gaze, Rong Shi looked outside the cave. The heavy rain continued relentlessly, intensifying as if the sky was ready to burst. The pitter-patter of rain outside wasn’t bothersome, but it made falling asleep difficult.
“Is it really bad?” After quietly watching the rain for a while, Rong Shi finally asked.
Su Ge sighed. She wished she could answer this question happily right now, but she truly couldn’t. Just now, she went to the mouth of the cave and saw that there was already flooding in many places outside, even though this was in the forest where there were drainage areas everywhere. If this was considered a safe spot, she really didn’t want to think about the worse places.
“Perhaps.” With many worries in her heart, Su Ge ultimately didn’t say anything. What was there to say? On the other side were extraterrestrials who hadn’t even seen rain, let alone understood the situations it could cause.
Although the late-night live broadcast room was quieter compared to daytime, it was still quite lively. Faced with this sudden situation, the hearts of all the viewers in the broadcast room were gripped with anxiety.
【What’s going on? Can someone who understands the situation explain it? 】 Comments like these were from extraterrestrials who had no idea what rain was. They were quickly enlightened by those who understood the situation and became worried.
【When will this rain stop? If it continues like this, it’s definitely not a good thing. 】 These comments were from viewers who understood the state of rain, most likely from Earth.
【I feel Su Ge’s mood is very low. It seems like she’s been worrying about something all along. Is it because of the rain or the safety point? Didn’t Ron say there’s no problem before? 】 This comment came from a viewer who had been watching the live broadcast from start to finish, so they understood the whole situation very well.
【I personally think Ron was just comforting everyone. 】
【I personally think Ron might not fully understand the natural disasters caused by rain, after all, as far as I know, Ronnie Star doesn’t have rain. 】
【I really admire Su Ge. In this situation, she still boiled water with whatever she had for everyone to drink. I admire everyone too. Su Ge gave them something, and they actually dared to eat it… It seems like that thing tastes terrible! Anyway, I wouldn’t dare to eat it. 】
【That’s ginger soup. They’ve been walking in the rain for so long. If they don’t ward off the cold, they’ll get sick. Rolling my eyes, they know nothing and still want to give orders. 】
【Do you understand? Then explain it to us. 】
…
【I have a feeling, the two of them sitting by the campfire, watching the rain outside, I always feel it’s so romantic…】
【Jié Jié, wake up, it’s already pouring outside. There might be natural disasters. Your sister’s face turned dark as soon as she saw Su Ge’s face, things must be bad. 】
Just as everyone was habitually watching the live broadcast where Su Ge appeared, several very different bullet comments suddenly appeared, obviously with incorrect tones.
【Don’t watch here, quickly go to the safety zone live broadcast over there, the situation there is terrible!】
【Hurry, go watch the safety zone broadcast! Oh my god, how could this situation happen! 】
…
At first, there weren’t many messages like these, but like a contagious disease, once they appeared, they quickly spread out. Eventually, they attracted a large number of viewers who rushed to the safety point broadcast.
As soon as they switched over, almost all the aliens were stunned by what they saw.
There was no safety zone anymore.
What seemed like a flat area with mountains behind it, now appeared to be a dangerous place.
Continuous heavy rain caused the streams in the forest to swell. They went from being gentle, lovely neighboring girls to scolding shrews standing with hands on their hips in the middle of the street.
The ferocious stream, not only the river water went rushing out from the forest, but rushing towards the safety zone along its former riverbed, it recklessly rushed straight through, directly knocking down the houses and shacks in the safety zone, especially Su Ge’s most prominent house and yard, which now looked completely unrecognizable.
Of course, what was even more worrisome was…
【I remember there were people in the safety zone, and there were four people on guard, right? 】
【Yes! There’s also Meng with a thigh injury, and Nalita, Flynn, and Saro. The four of them are in the camp. 】
【Oh my god, where are they! 】
【Everyone quickly switch to different cameras to find them, where are they! 】
Many hands make light work, and soon, with everyone’s active cooperation, they found four people in a relatively high place.
【I found them in the position 14. Everyone take a look. They’re all there.】
Although it was a relatively high place in the camera, it wasn’t necessarily safe. Heavy rain poured down from the sky as if a huge hole had opened up, continuously pouring water out.
Meng’s uninjured leg knelt on the high ground, he handed his crutch to Flynn in the distance, while Flynn grabbed the crutch with one hand and pulled Nalita, who was soaked in the water, with the others.
Beside Meng was Saro, who protected his leg, and also exerted force to hold onto the crutch.
In front of them was the swirling and extremely turbid river water, slamming into the safety zone fiercely, heading straight for the mountain wall, then hitting the mountain wall and being forced to turn around, forming a huge back flow bay and rushing towards the outside of the safety zone again. The whole process seemed like just turbulent waves, but it was actually quite dangerous.
Especially when they saw a floating log rushing towards Nalita in the back flow bay, the bullet comments in the entire live broadcast room were all covered with screams of “Ah!!”, indicating that all the viewers were already extremely nervous.
Just at that moment, Flynn, who was also soaking in the water, suddenly pulled Nalita, who was still a bit away from him, forcefully towards himself and threw her towards the shore, then he raised his leg and kicked the floating log that was heading straight for him out of the way.
The whole process was very quick, causing all the viewers to feel anxious.
Seeing this situation, all the viewers were extremely worried, switching back and forth between Su Ge’s cave live stream and the safety point live stream, the urgent messages kept coming.
【Su Ge Mei Mei! Rong Shi! Come up with a solution quickly! The situation at the safety point is extremely dire, please come up with a solution quickly! 】
【I beg you! Everyone in the forest, please go back to the safety zone and check on them, the four people they left behind are in a terrible situation! 】
【Su Ge Mei Mei! Can you hear our calls? Please make a decision quickly! Take them back! 】
【Sob, sob, sob, Su Ge Mei Mei, I’m about to cry in desperation, Rong Shi, can you hear our voices? Please go back and check on them quickly! 】
…
Su Ge wasn’t a viewer. She didn’t have a god’s-eye view. She doesn’t know what’s happening between the two livestreams. She could only judge the situation based on her own experience.
It felt like a fire was burning in her heart, and the more it burned, the bigger it got, making it impossible for her to sit here calmly anymore.
The person who knows herself the best is always herself. Although Su Ge didn’t know if she had any sixth sense, based on her experience of encountering such situations from childhood to adulthood, she was sure that what she was worried about wouldn’t develop in a positive direction.
The more she thought about it, the more she observed the current rainy situation, the more certain she became in her heart.
Standing at the entrance of the cave, she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Her family had always told her that the more she encountered such situations, the more she needed to stay calm and not to act impulsively, because under those impulse, she couldn’t make the right decisions.
After taking about four or five deep breaths, Su Ge turned to Rong Shi and said with an unusually firm voice, “We should wake everyone up, we need to go back to the safety zone.”
“Will something happen?”
Su Ge shook her head. “I don’t know. I hope nothing happens, but my intuition tells me that things might develop in the opposite direction of what I hope for.”
After just three seconds of silence, Rong Shi decisively moved to wake the others up, but Su Ge stopped him. “Do you fully trust my judgment? Do you just believe me without questioning?”
Rong Shi paused, then responded to Su Ge with an exceptionally cautious and calm voice, “Since my first day in the army, my instructor taught me that soldiers aren’t just about individual heroics. They must learn to assess situations, trust their teammates, and rely on them. So, as long as I’ve made a choice…”
“Su Ge, you are my teammate. I choose to believe in you, so there is no doubt, I trust you.”
“Isn’t it because I am from the Fifth Class Planet race?”
“No, it has nothing to do with the planet. Here, there are no distinctions between planets. We are all equal. So, what I want to say is, Su Ge, you are a trustworthy teammate. Regardless of the outcome, I will face it together with you!”
After Rong Shi finished speaking, he suddenly flashed Su Ge a big, brilliant smile. There were some dirty marks on his fair skin, but at this moment, Su Ge seemed to see the most beautiful smile in the world.
