“Let’s see… these coins sell pretty well. The toy swords are too dangerous, so I’ll pass. Oh, cute shoes! Tiny but well-made leather boots. The winged design is nice too.”
From a hollow in the wall, Mika pulled out items one after another, sorting through them.
Everything was small in size but finely crafted antiques.
“Are these accessories for old-fashioned dress-up dolls? Oh, this wooden stick, too—the carvings are so intricate, and it has a pretty stone attached! Perfect, this’ll be today’s highlight.”
She cheerfully dropped the items into a cardboard box on her cart, and just as she was about to head back, now that the box was full, she spotted something moving in the shadow of the box.
“Hey, stop that!” Mika quickly grabbed insecticide and sprayed it. The creature—trying to steal the wooden stick from the box—hurriedly covered its mouth in defense but dropped the stick and staggered away into the darkness.
“Hmm… I kinda feel bad now. Maybe I could’ve just let it have one little stick.”
After a moment of thought, Mika picked up the beautifully carved wooden stick from the box. She carried it deeper into the cave, set it down gently where no one was around, and then returned to her cart.
Today’s black demon had shimmering rainbow-colored wings, almost like a fairy. Lately, fewer of them had been attacking her, so she no longer disliked them as much as before. She figured it was fine to just leave them be.
As a replacement for the abandoned stick, she picked up a small coffee cup-like object from the hollow and placed it in the box. Then, Mika left Warehouse No. 4 and headed back to Himawari Mart.
