After their secret exchange, Su Jiang walked back calmly, and Wang Ziyang spoke first.
“Regarding Miss An Rou, after careful consideration, I believe, based on my understanding of Old Su, he’s definitely not the type to do such a thing!”
His tone was firm and decisive.
However, An Rou simply blinked, remaining silent as she glared at Su Jiang.
Was this girl playing dumb?
In a split second, Wang Ziyang’s attitude had changed, and it was quite obvious. If there had been any doubt in An Rou’s mind before, now she was mostly certain that she hadn’t misjudged the situation.
She couldn’t recall why she had fainted later, but one thing she was sure of was that this incident was somehow linked to Su Jiang.
An Rou stood up, walked over to Su Jiang, and discreetly pinched him, whispering, “I’ll let you off this time, but I’ll get back at you later.”
Su Jiang’s mouth twitched, rubbing his nose and glaring at Wang Ziyang.
Useless, it’s all your fault, your acting is over the top!
Wang Ziyang looked innocent, as if to say, “Can you really blame me?”
Ji Meng lightly patted Wang Ziyang and whispered, “Your acting skills are terrible.”
Wang Ziyang was speechless. Were his acting skills really that bad?
After a short break, an angry An Rou dragged Su Jiang away, while Wang Ziyang and Ji Meng continued playing other activities.
Unbeknownst to them, not far away, an ordinary-looking man was closely watching their every move. This man was Wu Chengzhi, sent by Lin Hui to monitor An Rou. He had been observing her closely all week without any slack.
Indeed, it was quite a boring task.
Every day is just the usual routine of going to and from school, having breakfast and lunch, and in the evening taking a walk by the river with that guy Su Jiang, and in between, running to find the teacher to report Su Jiang skipping classes and going to internet cafes.
This week, he’s been bored to death.
“Really, me, a trained killer, ended up tailing people.”
“I really want to just take them out, An Mingjie, did he really leave a trump card on that girl?”
“Can you believe it? A top-notch assassin like me is reduced to tailing someone.”
“I wish I could just take them out and be done with it. Did An Mingjie really leave a trump card with that girl?”
Chewing on a oil cake, Wu Chengzhi muttered to himself, watching An Rou intently.
With his skills, no one could notice him, like an assassin in the dark. Once he revealed himself, it would be a deadly strike.
“Meow…” Bad guy.
A soft meow caught Wu Chengzhi off guard. He looked down to see a little cat staring at him.
“Shoo, I’m hungry myself.”
Thinking the cat wanted his oil cake, he tried to shoo it away.
“Meow!” Bad guy!
Fugui meowed and swiftly ran off, following the scent of Su Jiang, running quickly.
It heard what Wu Chengzhi said, and it wanted to tell Su Jiang that there was a bad guy.
“Can you believe it? Even the stray cats in this amusement park are left unchecked.”
Wu Chengzhi watched as Fugui ran off, then suddenly paused. The direction it was heading wasn’t…
“Meow!” Master!
Su Jiang heard the familiar meow and turned to see a little cat sprinting towards him, looking puzzled.
How did it get here so quickly, and why was it tired so soon?
“Ah!” An Rou recognized the little cat, opening her arms and gently calling out, “Fugui, what are you doing here?”
The next moment, Fugui, who had been running towards Su Jiang, slightly veered off course just before reaching him, changed direction, and darted into An Rou’s arms, snuggling into the warm embrace.
Su Jiang: “…”
Silly cat!
Fugui rubbed against An Rou’s arms, then meowed at Su Jiang.
The message from Fugui resonated in Su Jiang’s mind, causing his relaxed expression to slowly furrow his brows.
Without revealing any signs, he glanced in the direction Fugui had come from and indeed saw a man wearing a duckbill cap, munching on an oil cake, occasionally glancing at himself and An Rou.
“Is that cat An Rou and Su Jiang’s?” Wu Chengzhi was also surprised at this moment. He hadn’t expected the little cat to belong to Su Jiang and An Rou, rather than being a stray.
He chuckled nonchalantly. So what if the cat belonged to them? Could the cat tell them that he’s an assassin?
Su Jiang quickly shifted his gaze, reaching out to gently pat Fugui’s head.
“Congratulations, you’ve done a great job,” Su Jiang whispered, “As a reward, here’s a little fish treat.”
“Meow!” Fish treat!
Fugui’s eyes sparkled with delight, knowing that its owner would reward it.
Su Jiang didn’t look back at Wu Chengzhi. He didn’t know the man’s intentions and didn’t want to make any hasty moves, to avoid alerting him.
Although not certain of the man’s identity, one thing was clear to Su Jiang: the man’s target was likely An Rou.
With just this in mind, regardless of his identity, he was Su Jiang’s enemy.
“Why did you bring Fugui here without telling me?” An Rou gently stroked Fugui’s soft fur, expressing a hint of reproach.
Su Jiang smiled helplessly, “I didn’t bring it here. It sneaked into my backpack without me knowing, and I only discovered it when I left.”
Upon hearing this, An Rou gently patted Fugui’s head, softly reprimanding, “Don’t do this next time, okay?”
“His backpack is so dirty and stuffy, how can he stand it if it gets all stuffy and hot?”
Su Jiang, feeling a bit of sweat on his forehead, was about to retort, but then he thought about how An Rou had just forgiven him for taking pictures without getting angry. He decided not to provoke her further.
“Meow!” I understand.
Fugui lifted its little head, responding gently, showing a completely different attitude compared to when facing Su Jiang.
Double standard cat!
Su Jiang inwardly chuckled at how silly the cat could be.
Later, the two of them experienced various thrilling amusement rides, such as bumper cars, roller coasters, and swinging pendulums.
As An Rou gradually gained courage, she went from being timid on the roller coaster to eventually pulling Su Jiang along for multiple rides without hesitation.
While they were having fun, Fugui obediently nestled into Su Jiang’s backpack, waiting in the storage area. Once the two finished playing, it jumped out of the backpack, pouncing into An Rou’s arms and affectionately rubbing its little head against her face.
Unbeknownst to them, the sun had quietly set, casting a golden glow over them and elongating their shadows.
“Su Jiang, let’s go on the Ferris wheel!” An Rou suddenly suggested, looking towards the distant Ferris wheel with anticipation.
Without waiting for Su Jiang’s response, she grabbed his hand and led him towards the entrance of the Ferris wheel.
Su Jiang didn’t mind; he had never been on a Ferris wheel before.
Or perhaps, like An Rou, he rarely visited amusement parks.
Soon, they both boarded the Ferris wheel. As it slowly ascended, the city lights spread beneath them, creating a beautiful scene under the twilight sky.
Su Jiang looked out the window at the scenery, experiencing a new perspective of the Jiangdu cityscape for the first time.
Meanwhile, An Rou sat across from him, holding Fugui in her arms. Her face displayed a hint of nervousness, completely disinterested in the view outside.
The Ferris wheel had ascended to two-thirds of its height. An Rou took a deep breath and let out a soft sigh.
“Su Jiang.”
Startled, Su Jiang looked up to meet An Rou’s anxious and slightly flushed eyes, his heart skipping a beat.
“W-What’s wrong?” Su Jiang seemed to sense what An Rou was about to do, his heart involuntarily quickening.
An Rou, still holding Fugui, unconsciously tightened her grip on the cat’s hand, gently biting her lip, as if hesitating.
After a moment, An Rou seemed to gather her courage. Her gaze locked onto Su Jiang’s eyes, and she spoke slowly and clearly, each word resonating in Su Jiang’s ears.
“Do you… like me?”
