Su Jiang noticed An Ruo’s emotions, he walked up and gently hugged An Ruo, patting her back to comfort her:
“It’s okay, nothing will happen.”
An Ruo felt her nose tingle, leaning against Su Jiang’s shoulder, softly murmuring in agreement.
Not far away, An Mingjie was still waiting for Director Zheng’s response.
“An Mingjie, do you know what opening the battlefield of the island city means?”
“I know, in the current situation, this is the most efficient solution.”
“But that’s a battlefield only the Dragonhead families can use, you…”
“Director Zheng, I believe this rule won’t be a problem for you, right?”
Director Zheng remained silent for a long time. Throughout their conversation, An Mingjie maintained absolute composure.
Even he, while speaking with An Mingjie, felt a subtle pressure, allowing An Mingjie to take the initiative.
After a moment, Director Zheng sighed deeply, asking: “When?”
“The sooner the better. Ideally, we could depart tomorrow and catch the Feng family off guard.”
“You should know that within the island city, your An family won’t receive any help. The Inspectorate won’t be able to assist you in that kind of battlefield.”
“I understand. Director Zheng, your help will be remembered by the An family.”
“Good.”
Director Zheng was about to hang up the phone, but paused and added:
“An Mingjie… you’re a remarkable person. I’ve taken note. Don’t die too soon, there are things I want to discuss with you in person.”
An Mingjie smiled slightly upon hearing this, replying: “Don’t worry, Director Zheng. We have a long way to go, and we can talk about many things.”
“He he…”
“Beep…”
Director Zheng chuckled lightly and hung up the phone, likely going to arrange matters for the island city battlefield.
An Mingjie handed the phone back to Su Jiang, and with a serious expression, said to him:
“Su Jiang, you don’t need to come with us this time. Stay in Jiangdu and take care of Rourou.”
An Ruo stood aside, head bowed, her mood low, she didn’t speak.
She also wanted to go with An Mingjie, to stand with the An family and face death together.
But she couldn’t. Because she knew that in this situation, she would only be a burden and wouldn’t be of any help.
Su Jiang took the phone, nodded lightly, and didn’t say anything more.
Then, An Mingjie looked around at the An family members, and said in a deep voice: “I think everyone has heard some of what was just discussed.”
“Yes, our An family is going to open the island city battlefield…
…to face the Feng family there, and fight until only a single drop of blood remains!”
“I never force anyone. If you don’t want to go, step forward now!”
The An family members stood still, their faces solemn. No one stepped forward.
Then, someone joked, “Young Master An, let’s not say these words. We’ve already come this far, when has the An family ever retreated?”
“Exactly, Young Master An, just tell us what we need to do. We trust you!”
“Why waste time with all this emotional stuff? It’s not like we can’t come back once we go.”
“Young Master An, just give the order!”
An Mingjie couldn’t help but smile at the sight. This was the meaning of his protection of the An family.
So, he didn’t mince words, and directly said:
“The logistics team will work hard tonight. Prepare supplies overnight, ensuring we have enough food on the island.”
“Also, prepare guns, ammunition, and other items. Everyone should get ready, bring whatever you’re most comfortable with. This time, we’re going to give the Feng family a taste of our power.”
“Confirm the list of those going into battle. Whether we return or not, make sure our families are taken care of…”
An Mingjie continued to make arrangements. Su Jiang and An Ruo stood aside, like two outsiders.
Su Jiang held An Ruo’s hand tightly. He knew An Ruo was…
…surely feeling terrible, but he couldn’t do anything.
This was a war of families, and even with his system, he couldn’t change anything alone.
After a long time, An Mingjie finally finished arranging everything, big and small. He let out a long sigh, collapsing onto the sofa, exhausted.
He hadn’t slept all night, and had rushed into this situation. He was mentally and physically drained.
“Brother!”
An Ruo felt a pang of sympathy, and quickly went to help An Mingjie up.
An Mingjie waved his hand, signaling that he was fine and that An Ruo shouldn’t worry.
“Brother An.”
At this moment, Su Jiang walked up to An Mingjie, his expression serious, and said:
“If you need someone, I’ll go help you.”
An Mingjie forced a smile, “No need, I appreciate your offer.”
“But if the An family really falls, it won’t matter if you come.”
“I just hope you can help me take care of Rourou.”
Su Jiang twitched his lips. He wanted to say, “You’ve got it all wrong.”
“I’m not going to help you, I’m going to help myself!”
“If your An family goes down, I’m going down with you!”
“So please, don’t act like you’re going to your death! For goodness sake!”
“Snap out of it, An Mingjie!”
Su Jiang’s face turned dark. No, he needs to get Old Zheng to keep an eye on things.
He just learned that the Inspectorate can monitor the situation on the battlefield at any time.
If An Mingjie really can’t handle it, Su Jiang has to go support him, no matter what.
Whether it helps or not is another matter, but at least he has to fight for his own life, right?
“Alright, you guys go ahead and play. I’m going to get some sleep. I’m too drained, my body can’t take it anymore.”
An Mingjie stood up, waved his hand, and went to his room alone. He lay down on the bed and fell asleep quickly.
He needed to recover his energy as soon as possible because he was the core of the An family. He couldn’t fall.
An Ruo watched her brother’s back, her face full of worry.
“Su Jiang, do you think my brother will win?”
Su Jiang gently took An Ruo’s hand and said confidently, “He will win.”
He paused and added, “We will all win.”
If An Mingjie loses, then Su Jiang will cease to exist in this world.
If that happens, An Ruo would be left alone in the world. If something like that really happens, she would surely collapse.
Su Jiang would never let that happen.
“Old An, you have to hang in there!”
He secretly cheered An Mingjie on in his heart. As long as this old guy can hold on, he doesn’t have to take any risks.
An Ruo gently bit her lower lip. Suddenly, she released Su Jiang’s hand, looked into his eyes and said:
“Su Jiang, I want to help. Even though I can’t go to the battlefield with them, I can at least help with some logistics work tonight.”
She didn’t want to just sit and watch. Even if her role was small, she wanted to do everything she could to contribute to the An family.
Su Jiang, hearing this, stroked An Ruo’s hair and smiled lightly, “Then I’ll go with you.”
“Hmm!”
An Ruo nodded, and so they began to help with the An family’s logistics preparations.
Su Jiang was in charge of moving things, while An Ruo was in charge of counting supplies.
Gradually, they both became more skilled at their tasks, and occasionally they would bicker with each other.
“Su Jiang! This is where the food goes, why are you bringing the explosives over here?!” An Ruo pointed at Su Jiang, her voice raised.
“No, it doesn’t say anything about it. How was I supposed to know it was explosives?”
“It doesn’t say anything, but you couldn’t open it up and take a look? Quickly move it over there!”
“Yes, yes, I’ll move it…” Su Jiang said helplessly.
The An family members, watching this scene, couldn’t help but laugh. They didn’t try to stop the two of them.
In fact, some of them even took out their phones and started recording the scene.
And so, the preparations for the great battle were in full swing at the An family residence.
