“Ugh!”
The gunshot rang out, but the one who fell to the ground in agony wasn’t Yang Fen.
The Feng family members all stared with wide eyes. Before Feng Haoxuan could pull the trigger, someone else had shot first.
Everyone’s eyes turned towards the one who had fired the shot.
Or rather, the group of people.
“Old… Old Xu?”
Yang Ming’s eyes widened in disbelief, unable to comprehend the scene before him.
His gaze darted across the crowd, muttering under his breath as he counted.
“One, two, three, four…”
His lips trembled as he counted, his heart pounding with excitement.
Forty-seven people. Forty-seven detectives from the Jiangdu City Detective Bureau stood before Yang Ming in perfect formation.
Ten more than the thirty-seven who had remained yesterday.
They had returned.
Even Lu Zhang, despite the bandage wrapped around his leg, was still grinning at Yang Yang Ming.
Old Xu, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, aimed at Yang Ming’s back, the barrel still warm from the recent bullet, and said with a playful tone:
“What’s wrong, Yang Ming? Don’t recognize the big guy?”
“You little rascal, you dared to run to the Feng family alone before we arrived.”
“Do you really think you’re the only one left in the Inspectorate?”
Yang Ming’s eyes welled up at those words, suppressing his surging emotions, he bit his lip tightly.
He had thought that after yesterday’s chaos, there might be very few people left in the Inspectorate.
But now, forty-seven people stood before him, telling him he was not alone.
In that moment, Yang Xun truly wanted to shout at the top of his lungs, to vent the emotions swirling within him.
Unlike Yang Xun, the faces of the Feng family members were grim. The situation had completely exceeded their expectations.
The Inspectorate had sent everyone!
And, of all times, it was now.
Lu Zhang hobbled over to Yang Ming and patted his shoulder lightly.
Then, his face turned cold. He glanced at the fallen Feng Haoxuan, and said to Feng Chengye:
“Feng family, this matter is big.”
“Openly attacking the Inspectorate, do you know what that means?”
The Feng family members immediately tensed up, waiting for Feng Chengye’s orders.
If they didn’t handle this well, forget about fighting the An family, they’d be spending the night in the Inspectorate.
However, Feng Chengye’s words surprised everyone, even Lu Zhang furrowed his brow.
Feng Chengye’s face was gloomy as he said calmly: “I have no intention of offending the Inspectorate.”
“Feng Haoxuan has long ceased to be a member of the Feng family. All his actions have nothing to do with the Feng family.”
Yang Ming clenched his fists upon hearing this. He hadn’t expected Feng Chengye to be so ruthless, so decisive.
Cutting off the tail for survival.
And the one being cut off wasn’t someone else, but his own son.
Feng Haoxuan, ignoring the pain from his gunshot wound, raised his head and stared at his father in disbelief.
He desperately hoped that what he had just heard was an illusion, a mistake of his ears.
However, when he met Feng Chengye’s icy gaze, he knew it was all true.
“Father, why… why?”
“Don’t call me that, we haven’t had any relationship for a long time.”
Feng Chengye looked at Feng Haoxuan as if he were a complete stranger.
Old Xu stubbed out his cigarette and stepped forward, saying coldly: “Don’t you worry about chilling the hearts of your own family, Feng family head?”
The Feng family members present were immediately shocked.
Yes, even his own son could be abandoned.
What about them?
“I know, all along, you’ve seen Feng Haoxuan’s actions. But because he’s my son, everyone has tolerated him, indulged him!”
“I’ve always been aware of this.”
“But today, I just want to say that your tolerance for my unworthy son should end here.”
Having said that, Feng Chengye, in full view of everyone, bowed deeply to the surrounding members of the Feng family.
“Head, you’re being too harsh.”
“No, no, no.”
“We all understand, Head, there’s no need for this.”
Everyone waved their hands repeatedly. Yang Xun and the others, witnessing this scene, all sighed inwardly.
Feng Chengye, truly a veteran.
This single bow effectively silenced the whispers and quelled the anxieties.
Old Xu, expressionless, waited for Feng Chengye’s performance to finish before speaking: “Feng family head, since that’s the case, we’ll take Feng Haoxuan away then?”
“Of course, do as you please. According to the Inspectorate’s rules, punish him if he deserves it, kill him if he deserves it.”
Feng Chengye paused, then added: “Don’t worry about my feelings. As I said, he has nothing to do with me, or the Feng family anymore.”
Old Xu, upon hearing this, gave Feng Chengye a deep look, then directed a few Inspectorate agents to step forward and drag Feng Haoxuan away.
“No! I’m not going!”
“Father, save me, I’m going to die!”
“Father! Father!”
In the face of Feng Haoxuan’s loud cries, Feng Chengye didn’t even frown, just watched silently.
As Old Xu passed by Yang Xun, he whispered: “It seems we can only do this today, we’ll find a chance to help you get your revenge next time.”
Yang Xun felt touched and nodded slightly.
“It’s okay, Old Xu. You guys coming is enough.”
“Let’s go!”
With a wave of his hand, the Inspectorate personnel left in a grand procession, under the gaze of the Feng family members, with no one daring to stop them.
After they left, Feng Chengye looked at the bloodstains of Feng Haoxuan on the ground and said calmly:
“Everyone, put down everything you’re doing and go with the logistics personnel to prepare supplies.”
“Also, this time, the An family has colluded with the Inspectorate, so according to the rules, they will definitely favor the An family. This is undeniable.”
“Recall all personnel outside, ensure sufficient firearms and ammunition. Before the afternoon, I want to see these supplies neatly arranged in front of me.”
“Is that clear?!”
“Clear!”
“Recall all personnel outside, ensure sufficient firearms and ammunition. Before the afternoon, I want to see these supplies neatly arranged in front of me.”
“Is that clear?!”
“Clear!”
The Feng family members responded with a loud shout, then immediately went to prepare the supplies. Time was tight, they couldn’t afford to delay.
Feng Chengye’s eyes were dark and gloomy. He returned to his room alone and could no longer control his emotions. He picked up the teacup on the table and slammed it to the ground.
He wasn’t satisfied with just one, so he smashed several more.
Only he knew how bitter it was to abandon Feng Haoxuan.
Feng Chengye propped his hands on the table, panting heavily.
After a long time, he took out his phone and dialed a number.
“Beep…”
“Wei Shao, it’s urgent…”
Feng Chengye concisely told Wei Tian about the An family’s alliance with the Inspectorate and the situation on the isolated battlefield.
On the other end of the line, Wei Tian fell silent after listening.
Feng Chengye didn’t dare to urge him, so he just waited.
He didn’t know how long it had been, but then he heard Wei Tian’s chuckle.
“I didn’t expect that An Mingjie would be more capable than I thought.”
“Don’t worry, Feng family head, I’ve already sent Rose and my private forces there. They’ll intervene at the crucial moment.”
Feng Chengye felt a little more at ease upon hearing this, but immediately asked: “But Miss Rose and your private forces don’t belong to the Feng family. Will the Inspectorate allow them to enter?”
Wei Tian chuckled disdainfully, unconcerned: “Feng family head, you should know.”
“Rules, at a certain level, are no longer needed.”
“Just like the Inspectorate can collude with the An family and catch you off guard.”
“Within my authority, letting a few people in, the Inspectorate won’t dare to say anything.”
After saying this, Wei Tian’s tone suddenly changed, cold words, word by word, transmitted to Feng Chengye’s ears.
“You just need to kill everyone in the An family, without leaving a single one alive.”
