Chapter 42 Threatening Peng Zhigang
Seeing Peng Zhigang’s shocked and unpleasant expression, Bai Ziyong smiled. “Peng Zhiqing, I found these underwear in the mountains yesterday. They look like yours. Are they?” Peng Zhigang understood immediately.
Bai Ziyong had likely seen him and Li Yuehong. He’d wondered how their clothes disappeared. He’d thought a wild animal took them, but now he realized someone had stolen them. It was Bai Ziyong. Thinking about being caught, Peng Zhigang felt uneasy.
He denied it. “They’re not mine. Many underwear look similar.” Bai Ziyong smirked. “Oh, really? Not yours? Okay then.” Peng Zhigang, under Bai Ziyong’s gaze, felt even more uneasy. He knew Bai Ziyong had seen them.
He was sweating. Bai Ziyong patted his shoulder. “Peng Zhiqing, don’t be nervous. I’m not going to eat you. I don’t gossip. But you should be more discreet and not get so close to Jiang Zhiqing.” Peng Zhigang understood. Bai Ziyong wouldn’t reveal his secret, but he had to stop bothering Jiang Zhiqing.
Though Peng Zhigang still wanted Jiang Zhiqing, he agreed. Jiang Li gave Bai Ziyong a thumbs-up. “Bai Zhiqing, you’re amazing! You got rid of Peng Zhiqing so easily!” Bai Ziyong chuckled. “Sister Li, don’t praise me. I just knew his secret.” Jiang Li was still impressed. Mu Jingxun also gave Bai Ziyong a thumbs-up.
Their actions had been effective. Without the underwear threat, it would have been harder to get rid of Peng Zhigang. Regardless of his methods, Bai Ziyong had solved a problem for Jiang Li. Peng Zhigang was uneasy.
He had a secret in Bai Ziyong’s hands. He needed to get rid of Bai Ziyong and Mu Jingxun. Perhaps Mu Jingxun had also seen him and Li Yuehong. He began thinking of ways to frame them. Jiang Li, Mu Jingxun, and Bai Ziyong, being efficient, finished their work quickly and had the work points recorded.
In the afternoon, Jiang Li went hunting to earn money to buy herbs for cultivation. When they returned for lunch, they smelled braised pork. Jiang Li had started braising the pig’s head before work. Using a coal stove, it was easy to braise without constant attention. “Sister Li, it smells great! Is it ready?” Bai Ziyong asked, eager to eat.
It had been braising for over four hours and was ready. Jiang Li nodded. “Yes, it’s ready. I’ll steam some rice and stir-fry some vegetables.” Bai Ziyong offered to pick, wash, and rinse the rice. Jiang Li smiled, appreciating his helpfulness.
Mu Jingxun, seeing Bai Ziyong’s eagerness, also wanted to help. Bai Ziyong was surprised by Mu Jingxun’s sudden helpfulness. Jiang Li went to check on the pig’s head.
