Chapter 53 Sister Li is still awesome

Jiang Li, being a cultivator herself, believed in the concept of karma.  While possessing supernatural abilities, she didn’t use them recklessly.  Misusing her powers to harm others would negatively impact her ascension and trials.

  She generally used her abilities against those who deserved it.  Although she didn’t directly answer their question, Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong understood. Bai Ziyong gave Jiang Li a thumbs-up, “Sister Jiang, you’re amazing.

” They had only wanted to beat Peng Zhigang up, but Jiang Li had eliminated the problem permanently.  With Peng Zhigang taken away by the inspection team, and unlikely to provide evidence, he faced being sent to a labor camp.

Captain Liu clearly disliked Peng Zhigang, making it difficult for him to present any evidence even if he had it.  In short, Peng Zhigang was in for a world of trouble.  Knowing this, Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong felt relieved. They were happy not only because Peng Zhigang had framed them, but also because his removal meant he wouldn’t bother Jiang Li again. The team members and educated youths gathered at the rice paddy field.

  Once everyone had arrived, Li Changping held a meeting. He highlighted Peng Zhigang’s actions and warned everyone against repeating such foolish mistakes. He stressed the importance of behaving responsibly and threatened consequences for anyone jeopardizing the brigade’s evaluation. 

After addressing the team, Li Changping assigned farm work. The trio of Jiang Li, Mu Jingxun, and Bai Ziyong worked together, their coordination improving daily.  Jiang Li finished her work early that morning.

 After work, Bai Ziyong eagerly approached Jiang Li, “Sister Jiang, what delicious food will we have for lunch?” Jiang Li, seeing Bai Ziyong’s eagerness, commented on his love for food. “What do you want to eat?” Bai Ziyong immediately flattered her, “Anything you make is delicious, Sister Jiang. I’ll eat whatever you make.” Jiang Li nodded, “Okay, I’ll make you guys braised rice with cured meat.

” Although Bai Ziyong had eaten braised rice with cured meat before, he believed Jiang Li’s would be better.  He started anticipating it even before they returned to the educated youth center. “Sister Jiang, let’s go back and prepare the meal.” “Okay.” The three headed back together. Back at the educated youth center, Jiang Li assigned tasks.

She had Bai Ziyong wash the rice, Mu Jingxun pick peas from the private plot and peel a potato. Jiang Li went to the kitchen and chopped the cured meat into small cubes. Mu Jingxun brought her the washed peas and potato cubes.

Jiang Li diced the potato. After heating the pot, she stir-fried the cured meat until fragrant, then added the peas and potatoes. After seasoning and stir-frying, she mixed everything with the washed rice and steamed it. The fragrant braised rice was ready. While the rice was steaming, Jiang Li prepared some pickled vegetables she had made earlier.

 Compared to others’ pickled vegetables, hers were exceptional.  The braised rice was dry, so she also made soup.  By the time Jiang Li finished, the braised rice was emitting an enticing aroma. Bai Ziyong, a true foodie, was already waiting. At Jiang Li’s signal, he grabbed his bowl. Mu Jingxun stopped him, “Let Sister Jiang go first.

 Ladies first. You, a man, should let the lady go first.” Bai Ziyong chuckled, “Brother Mu, Sister Jiang’s not an outsider.” “Even if she’s not an outsider, you should still show her some respect.” Mu Jingxun said seriously.

Bai Ziyong looked at Mu Jingxun, “Brother Mu, I’ve noticed something. My position in your heart is lower than Sister Jiang’s. Do you like Sister Jiang more than me now?” Mu Jingxun was startled. He quickly glanced at Jiang Li, fearing a misunderstanding. He told Bai Ziyong, “What nonsense are you talking about? We’re just brothers, nothing more.

” Mu Jingxun hoped Jiang Li wouldn’t misunderstand them as being romantically involved. Jiang Li didn’t misunderstand, and said, “Don’t be so formal. Since Comrade Bai wants to eat, let him eat first.”  Bai Ziyong grinned, “Sister Jiang, you’re the best.

” Mu Jingxun was speechless.  They all served themselves and ate. The braised rice was delicious. Mu Jingxun and Bai Ziyong each ate three large bowls, while Jiang Li only managed one. They also drank two bowls of soup. Jiang Li silently marveled at their appetites.  They had just finished when Lin Shuyin arrived, noticing the aroma of cured meat. Although they had finished eating, the smell lingered.

 Lin Shuyin envied their good food. Jiang Li asked Lin Shuyin, “Comrade Lin, what’s up?” Lin Shuyin replied, “The captain said that since Comrade Peng is gone, we need to elect a new captain for the educated youth. I’m here to inform you about the election.

” Jiang Li nodded. The captain’s position couldn’t remain vacant. An election was necessary.
