Chapter 6 Purchasing before going to the countryside

The house didn’t belong to Jiang Wenjun, but to Factory Director Chen.  Now that Jiang Li was acting crazy, Xia Meifeng was genuinely afraid of her. What if Jiang Li drove them all out?  Just seeing that Jiang Li dared to hit her own father showed that she was capable of anything. Although Jiang Wan was unhappy, after Xia Meifeng’s persuasion, she complied. Jiang Wan took her bedding and went to Jiang Li’s original room.

 Seeing how dark and small Jiang Li’s room was, Jiang Wan complained incessantly. Jiang Li, in her room, heard Jiang Wan’s grumbling. Heh, now she finds the room small; soon, she won’t even have a small room. This house was left by the original owner’s grandfather and wasn’t for Jiang Wenjun to inherit. This family had lived in the original owner’s grandfather’s house for so many years; it was time for them to leave. Jiang Li had to go to the countryside, and before that, she had to sell the house for money to take with her; she couldn’t let the scumbag father and his family benefit from it.

 Thinking this, Jiang Li decided to find out if anyone wanted to buy the house. It was a large house in the apartment complex and should sell for a good price. Jiang Li went to bed and started meditating.  Initially, she used a Huiyuan Pill to adjust the original owner’s body. Now, she took out a Xisuidan (a pill to cleanse the marrow) to cleanse and refine the original owner’s body. The original owner’s body was weak; if Jiang Li wanted to continue her cultivation and ascend, she had to improve her body to a state suitable for cultivation.

After taking the Xisuidan, Jiang Li’s body began to excrete layers of black grime, which smelled terrible, causing Jiang Li to vomit. After about an hour, Jiang Li had expelled most of the grime from the original owner’s body. Her body felt much lighter. The Xisuidan not only improved her internal constitution but also changed her appearance. Her skin and complexion improved significantly. Feeling sticky and uncomfortable, Jiang Li took a bath. The dirty clothes smelled terrible, so she threw them away.

Anyway, the original owner’s clothes were old clothes that Jiang Wan didn’t want, so there was no need to feel sorry for them. Jiang Li had just sold her job position and had 1600 yuan.  After selling the house, she would have more money, enough to buy new clothes. After showering, Jiang Li felt much better and fell asleep. The next morning, after a good night’s sleep, Jiang Li felt refreshed.

 However, seeing that breakfast wasn’t ready, she kicked Xia Meifeng. “What time is it? Breakfast isn’t ready yet? Are you trying to starve me?” Xia Meifeng screamed after being kicked. Jiang Wenjun’s face flushed, and he clenched his fists. He wanted to defend Xia Meifeng and scold Jiang Li for being disrespectful to her stepmother, but he was too intimidated to say anything and could only watch Jiang Li act so brazenly. Xia Meifeng, terrified, quickly said, “I’ll make breakfast now.”

 She was genuinely scared; Jiang Li would strike without warning, and the family couldn’t beat her. Their reputation in the apartment complex was ruined; even if Jiang Li did something excessive, no one would speak up for them. Xia Meifeng made breakfast and urged Jiang Li to eat. As before, Jiang Li had to eat first. After breakfast, Jiang Li planned to buy supplies for the countryside and left early.

Oh, and she had to find out if anyone wanted to buy their house. After Jiang Li left, the pressure on Jiang Wenjun and the others lifted. Jiang Wan said with a bitter face, “Mom and Dad, Jiang Li has gone crazy. She beats us whenever she wants. How are we going to live?” Jiang Wan felt suffocated; Jiang Li would use her fists at any disagreement. Xia Meifeng felt even worse. “What can we do? We can only wait until Jiang Li goes to the countryside.  She has to go in a week. When she’s gone, our lives will be better.

” Xia Meifeng’s words comforted the others. Yes, they just had to endure another week until Jiang Li left for the countryside. Leaving the machinery factory’s apartment complex, Jiang Li went to Beijing’s black market. Although she had money, she didn’t have coupons. To buy things, she needed to exchange for coupons. Jiang Li found a black market dealer and exchanged for some coupons.  She had plenty of money, so she didn’t mind spending a little extra.

After exchanging for coupons, Jiang Li went to Beijing’s department store. In the 1970s, resources were scarce, and everything was rationed.  Even in Beijing’s department store, the goods weren’t abundant.

 Jiang Li was wearing ordinary clothes, old clothes that Jiang Wan had discarded, so the salesclerks only glanced at her indifferently and didn’t serve her. Salesclerks in department stores and supply and marketing cooperatives were in high demand; they were arrogant. Jiang Li ignored them and started choosing what she needed. In the countryside, the most valuable goods were liquor, cigarettes, and brown sugar.

Jiang Li bought four bottles of liquor, two packs of Dajianmen cigarettes, and five kilograms of brown sugar. She also bought several kilograms of pastries and some daily necessities. She could buy easily obtainable items in the countryside.  She bought a lot of things, including two pairs of new shoes and several new sets of clothes. Seeing Jiang Li buy so many things, the salesclerks realized they had misjudged her.

 They thought she was just browsing, but she was a big customer. Jiang Li bought two large packages of goods, spending several hundred yuan. Although it was a lot, Jiang Li didn’t mind. After all, she was a top-level figure in the Xuanmen; making money was easy.  Jiang Li put everything into her spatial storage.

After shopping, she ate lunch at a state-run restaurant. The state-run restaurant had good supplies. Jiang Li ordered two meat dishes, one vegetable dish, and a bowl of soup. The chef’s cooking was excellent, or maybe the ingredients were better; the meat tasted much better than in later years.

Thinking about going to the countryside, she decided to buy more delicious food to take with her.
