Chapter 68 Rescue

Seeing a car arrive at the brigade, the team members were all curious about what was going on.  The person in the car was Lu Rong. Lu Rong had a worried expression, clearly very anxious. Her nephew, Lu Yan, had been in critical condition for the past few days.

Relying on her husband’s connections and her family’s influence, they had been desperately searching for a powerful master of Xuanxue (esoteric studies).  They had found a few masters, but their skills were mediocre and couldn’t help Lu Yan.

In recent years, due to the changing social climate in China, truly powerful masters had gone into seclusion and didn’t dare to appear publicly.

Therefore, even with the Lu family’s considerable background and connections, finding a master to save Lu Yan was impossible.

Dr. Wu had said that twelve o’clock noon was the latest Lu Yan could hold on. If they couldn’t find someone to help Lu Yan by then, he would die.

Lu Rong, desperate, thought of Jiang Li. Since they had no other options, they could only trust Jiang Li and let her try. What if this girl was truly skilled? What if she could really help her nephew? Time was of the essence; it was already past four in the afternoon.

Any later, and they might miss the best time for treatment. So, Lu Rong came to the Victory Production Brigade with a glimmer of hope.  Seeing Lu Rong’s car enter the production team, Li Changping immediately went towards it.

In this era, those who could afford a car were undoubtedly important figures, at least leaders of factories or units.  The small people in the Yutou Village production team had never seen such important people. Now that an important person had come to the brigade, Li Changping had to receive them properly.

The car stopped shortly after entering the brigade. Li Changping approached and asked the person inside, “Hello, I’m Li Changping, the brigade leader of the Victory Production Brigade. May I ask what brings you here?” After Li Changping introduced himself, Lu Rong said to him, “Hello, I’m looking for Jiang Li, Jiang Zhiqing.

”  Seeing Lu Rong’s extraordinary clothing and demeanor, Li Changping knew that this woman must be a wealthy matron. “You’re looking for Jiang Zhiqing? She went up the mountain and hasn’t returned yet.” Li Changping had just finished speaking when he heard a team member shout, “Brigade Leader, Jiang Zhiqing is back!” Li Changping looked towards the foot of the mountain and saw Jiang Li walking down carrying a pheasant.

This girl was truly amazing; every time she went to the mountain, she brought back some game, even better than a professional hunter. Seeing Jiang Li coming down the mountain, Li Changping said to Lu Rong, “Comrade, you’re lucky, Jiang Zhiqing just came down the mountain.” Lu Rong also saw Jiang Li coming down from the mountain.

This young girl seemed to have an air of ethereal grace, truly unlike ordinary people. Just from her bearing, one could tell she possessed genuine skills. Could she really help her nephew overcome this calamity?

As soon as Jiang Li came down the mountain, she heard the team members say that someone was looking for her, someone who had arrived in a car.  Knowing who it was without needing to think, and given the urgency of saving someone, Jiang Li quickened her pace and went to the car.

Lu Rong got out of the car when she saw Jiang Li approach, “Comrade Jiang Li, please save my nephew.” Jiang Li nodded. “Okay, let’s go, we need to hurry.” Jiang Li said, handing the pheasant to Brigade Leader Li Changping, “Brigade Leader, please give this pheasant to Comrade Mu and Comrade Bai for me, and tell them I might not be back tonight, so they should cook their own dinner.

” Li Changping was curious about the situation. This important person had come to ask Jiang Zhiqing to save someone? Jiang Zhiqing also knew medicine?  Soon, Li Changping remembered something—Jiang Li had used talismans to save his grandson.

Could this situation be similar? Perhaps this person needed to use Xuanxue to save someone, so they had come to Jiang Zhiqing? The more Li Changping thought about it, the more likely it seemed. However, he certainly wouldn’t spread such a thing. Nowadays, reporting feudal superstition could have serious consequences.

Li Changping took the pheasant Jiang Li handed him, “Okay, Jiang Zhiqing, I’ll pass this on to Comrade Mu and Comrade Bai, and I’ll deliver your message. You go ahead and do your thing.” Jiang Li responded and got into Lu Rong’s car. Lu Rong was anxious to save her nephew and urged the driver to hurry, fearing any delay.

Jiang Li said, “No need to rush, we still have time.” Speeding was dangerous; Jiang Li didn’t want to be in a car accident. Seeing Jiang Li say this, Lu Rong knew that the girl probably had a plan. She hoped her nephew would be saved by Jiang Li this time.

After Lu Rong’s car left, everyone in the brigade gathered around the brigade leader, “Brigade Leader, what did Jiang Zhiqing go to do? Who was that important person? Did she go to save someone? We’ve never heard that Jiang Zhiqing knew medicine before.

” Seeing everyone’s gossip, Li Changping quickly interrupted their speculation, “Alright, this is none of your business. What are you asking so much for? Go to work, don’t delay production.” Under Li Changping’s dismissal, the curious team members gradually dispersed.

However, while working, they still whispered amongst themselves, “Jiang Zhiqing knows people who drive cars! She’s going to be successful!

” Sun Wenwen was already depressed, and now seeing that Jiang Li seemed to have befriended powerful people, she felt even more resentful.

Why was she becoming more miserable, while Jiang Li’s life was getting better and better? That bitch Jiang Li, just you wait! She would retaliate for the harm she had caused. Lu Rong’s car drove to the county hospital.

Lu Yan was in a private, high-class ward.

Fortunately, Dr. Wu was there to keep Lu Yan alive; otherwise, Lu Yan would have already died. But Dr. Wu’s skills were limited; he could only help for another day at most.

Lu Rong and Jiang Li arrived at the ward. Compared to before, Lu Yan’s condition was even worse, his face even more purplish.

Most importantly, the ghostly aura around Lu Yan was even stronger. If not for Jiang Li, Lu Yan wouldn’t have survived. Lu Yan should thank himself and his ancestors’ blessings. Lu Rong pointed at Lu Yan and said to Jiang Li, “Comrade, this is my nephew.

Can you really help him?” Dr. Wu was in the ward. He had heard that Lu Rong would be bringing someone to try and treat Lu Yan.

But Dr. Wu didn’t expect that the person Lu Rong brought was a young girl.
