Chapter 71 Don’t Scare the Girl

Bai Zirong encouraged Mu Jingxun.  Besides being good friends and wanting his friend to find a good girl, he also hoped that if Jiang Li married Mu Jingxun, he could continue to freeload meals. After all, Xun Ge was closer than his own brother. If Jiang Li and Mu Jingxun got together, he wouldn’t have to worry about introducing other men to Jiang Li.

Mu Jingxun rolled his eyes at Bai Zirong, “Didn’t you hear what Jiang Zhiqing said? She’s young and doesn’t plan to date yet.”

They hadn’t known each other for long, and Mu Jingxun was worried that confessing his feelings now would scare her. What if Jiang Li got scared and avoided him? Then he wouldn’t even have a friend.

He decided to wait, at least until they had spent more time together and Jiang Li knew him better, increasing his chances of winning her affection. Bai Zirong agreed. Sister Li was indeed young, and since she didn’t want to date, Xun Ge could only wait.

Bai Zirong patted Mu Jingxun on the shoulder, “Xun Ge, the revolution hasn’t succeeded yet, comrade, you still need to work hard. As long as you persevere, Sister Li will eventually agree to be with you. As a brother, if you need help, just tell me.

” Mu Jingxun also eagerly awaited that day. For now, he’d take things as they came.  When Jiang Li woke up, Lu Rong’s people sent her breakfast.

After breakfast, Jiang Li went to the hospital. She needed to check on Lu Yan’s recovery and give Lu Rong the prescription. After that, she could return to the production brigade and work in the morning. When Jiang Li arrived at the county hospital, Lu Yan was already awake.

Lu Rong had stayed with her nephew all night, and he woke up in the middle of the night. Seeing her nephew finally awake, Lu Rong’s heart finally settled. She contacted her family with the good news.

After waking up, Lu Yan talked to Lu Rong for a while and then slept again. When he woke up in the morning, he saw Jiang Li.

Lu Yan’s aunt had told him that a young girl had saved him, and he hadn’t expected it to be Jiang Li, such a beautiful young girl. Seeing her nephew staring at Jiang Li, Lu Rong quickly introduced them, “Yan’er, this is Miss Jiang Li, the one who saved you.

” Lu Rong then said to Jiang Li, “Miss Jiang, you’re amazing! My nephew woke up last night, just as you predicted. Thank you so much. We’ll be at the hospital for the next couple of days. Once my nephew is well enough to be discharged, we’ll personally thank you.” Lu Rong could have simply sent Jiang Li a gift as a thank you, but she felt that wouldn’t adequately express her gratitude.

Jiang Li had saved her nephew’s life, a debt of gratitude that couldn’t be repaid with a simple gift. She planned to visit Jiang Li personally with gifts once Lu Yan was well enough to be discharged. Lu Yan also said to Jiang Li, “Miss Jiang, thank you for saving me. My aunt said that if it weren’t for you, I might be dead.

I’ll never forget your kindness. If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.” Jiang Li waved her hand, “A family that does good deeds will always be blessed.

Comrade Lu is a virtuous person. My saving him was surely fate; you don’t need to thank me.” Although Jiang Li said she didn’t need thanks, how could Lu Yan and Lu Rong not thank her? Regardless, they would personally thank Jiang Li after Lu Yan’s discharge. Jiang Li sat next to Lu Yan and said, “Extend your hand; I’ll take your pulse again.

” Lu Yan cooperated and extended his hand. After taking his pulse, Jiang Li felt that Lu Yan’s condition was stable and withdrew her hand, giving the prescription to Lu Rong, “Take this medicine for a while, and you’ll recover within a month.

His long-term training has caused some underlying health issues; this will help to address those as well.” Lu Rong took the prescription and nodded. “Okay, I’ll leave then.

” As Jiang Li got up to leave, Lu Yan stopped her, “Miss Jiang, I’d like to ask why I suddenly fell ill, and why it was so serious.” Lu Yan only remembered going into the mountains with his comrades to patrol and carry out a special mission.  Not long after entering the mountains, he suddenly felt dizzy and fainted.

He only learned about what happened afterward from his aunt. If he hadn’t been lucky enough to meet Jiang Li, he would likely be dead. As Lu Yan asked, Lu Rong also looked curiously at Jiang Li. She was worried that it was the work of an enemy of the Lu family.

If it was an accident, that was one thing, but if someone had deliberately framed him, it was a serious matter. Seeing Lu Yan’s question, Jiang Li calculated with her fingers, “Did you go into the mountains before you fainted? There are some unclean things in those mountains.

You were unlucky that day, leading the way, and encountered a wild ghost, losing your mind and getting injured. Try not to go to mountainous areas with many graves in the future. You might accidentally disturb them and anger them.

” Although Lu Yan was prepared, he still found it unbelievable. He was an atheist.  Last night, his aunt said he had angered evil spirits, and he didn’t believe it. Now that Jiang Li said the same thing, Lu Yan found it absurd.

Jiang Li saw that Lu Yan didn’t seem to believe in Xuanxue.  She had already saved him; whether he believed it or not was his business.  Knowing that Lu Yan was a soldier with a lot of merit, Jiang Li took out a talisman and gave it to him, “Carry this amulet with you.

Even if you don’t believe in ghosts and gods, it won’t harm you. Consider it a lucky charm.” Lu Yan didn’t believe in ghosts and gods, but Lu Rong did, because she had seen Jiang Li extract a dark mass from her nephew’s body.

Some things were hard to believe unless seen firsthand. “Yan’er, take this amulet from Miss Jiang. She’s right; it won’t hurt to carry it for peace of mind.

” Lu Rong took the amulet from Jiang Li and put it in her nephew’s pocket. Lu Yan didn’t want his aunt to worry, so he didn’t refuse the amulet, considering it a way to comfort his aunt. Seeing that everything was settled, Jiang Li left the ward.

Lu Rong thoughtfully arranged for someone to drive Jiang Li back to the Victory Production Brigade, saving her from waiting for a cart.
