Chapter 89 Sun Wenwen was beaten to death
Hearing that Sun Wenwen had gone to their teacher’s place to deliver things, Mu Jingxun and Bai Z Rong knew she had ulterior motives. Mu Jingxun immediately told Lin Cheng to stay away from Sun Wenwen in the future; she wasn’t a good person. A person with questionable character offering help to people who were sent down must have bad intentions.
After hearing Mu Jingxun’s assessment of Sun Wenwen, Lin Cheng felt relieved. His judgment seemed to be accurate; Sun Wenwen did have problems. Fortunately, he didn’t accept her gifts. After chatting for a while, Mu Jingxun and Bai Z Rong didn’t stay long and quietly returned to the educated youth point.
For the next few days, Jiang Li’s life was relatively peaceful. There were no major incidents in the production brigade. Jiang Li collected herbs and treated people’s illnesses. The Shengli Production Brigade benefited greatly from having such a skilled doctor. She could treat minor ailments. However, this peace didn’t last long.
Trouble struck Li Ermazi’s family. Early one morning, the Shengli Production Brigade was in an uproar. Li Ermazi and Sun Wenwen had a fight, and Li Ermazi accidentally killed Sun Wenwen.
Neighbors heard the commotion. The Li family couldn’t cover it up and Li Ermazi had to face a murder charge.
Seeing Sun Wenwen dead, Guihua Shen was panicked. She had encouraged her son to beat Sun Wenwen. She had seen Sun Wenwen flirting with Li Dazhu several times. That morning, Sun Wenwen greeted Li Dazhu, prompting Guihua Shen to nag her son to discipline his wife.
Li Ermazi couldn’t stand the thought of Sun Wenwen being interested in other men and beat her. Guihua Shen thought Sun Wenwen would learn her lesson, but her son killed her. This was a serious matter. At worst, Li Ermazi would be imprisoned for life. At worst, he would have to pay for Sun Wenwen’s death with his own life.
Guihua Shen only had one son, Li Ermazi. Her eldest son had died young, and if anything happened to Li Ermazi, she and her husband would have no one to take care of them in their old age. The news quickly spread throughout the brigade.
Li Changping, hearing about the murder, trembled. After the incident with Peng Zhigang, who hid foreign books, now this murder, the Shengli Production Brigade’s evaluation this year was ruined. Li Changping immediately called Jiang Li to see if Sun Wenwen could be saved. Although Jiang Li didn’t like Sun Wenwen, she was surprised by her sudden death.
She immediately went with Li Changping to Li Ermazi’s house to see Sun Wenwen’s condition. When Jiang Li and Li Changping arrived at Li Ermazi’s house, other educated youths also came. They wanted to see for themselves.
Liu Yulan didn’t expect to encounter this on her first day out of bed. She thought this was a warning from Heaven.
Sun Wenwen ended up like this because of Jiang Li, so she must avoid Jiang Li to ensure her safety. Jiang Li and Li Changping quickly arrived at Li Ermazi’s house. It was surrounded by people. Li Changping shouted, “Everyone make way for Comrade Jiang to see if Sun Zhiqing can be saved.” Although everyone knew the chances were slim, they still hoped for a miracle. They made way for Jiang Li.
Jiang Li went straight to Sun Wenwen. Sun Wenwen was lying in a pool of blood, with a large wound on her neck, blood gushing out. She was dead. Even Jiang Li couldn’t bring her back to life.
Seeing Sun Wenwen’s tragic death, Jiang Li didn’t know what to say. She didn’t feel sorry for her; she deserved it. Sun Wenwen was framed by Jiang Li and married Li Ermazi. Jiang Li bore some responsibility for her death. But Jiang Li didn’t think she had done anything wrong. It was Sun Wenwen who had tried to harm her first.
Jiang Li simply used her own methods against her. If Sun Wenwen had succeeded, Jiang Li might have been dead. Jiang Li shook her head and said to Li Changping, “Captain Li, Sun Zhiqing is dead.
There’s no chance of saving her.” Li Changping was disheartened. He sighed heavily. The brigade’s evaluation was ruined. Li Changping didn’t dare to hide this serious incident and immediately sent someone to report it to the county.
The Li family was stunned. Li Ermazi knew he couldn’t escape. The villagers discussed the incident, surprised by Li Ermazi’s cruelty. Li Changping urgently held a meeting, urging everyone to be cautious and avoid further incidents.
If such things happened again, the production brigade would be severely criticized and punished. Everyone had a strong sense of collective honor, and no one wanted their collective to be disgraced.
The county police arrived quickly after hearing about the murder.
