Chapter 91: Scared Out of My Soul

Mu Jingxun hadn’t considered this, but after hearing Bai Z Rong, he was also frightened. If he were haunted by Sun Wenwen’s ghost and defiled, he wouldn’t be pure anymore and wouldn’t be worthy of pursuing Jiang Li.

 Mu Jingxun and Bai Z Rong told Jiang Li about this. Seeing their fear, Jiang Li knew the mountain incident had left a deep psychological impact.

“The amulets I gave you will protect you. If you’re still worried, I’ll give you a house-protecting amulet to keep ghosts away from your dwelling.” Jiang Li gave them a house-protecting amulet. Mu Jingxun and Bai Z Rong took the amulet back to their room.  They were no longer afraid of Sun Wenwen’s ghost.

 As soon as they left, someone came to Jiang Li. It was the family where Guihua Shen was staying. “Comrade Jiang, we gave our child your fever medicine, but he’s still feverish after a day. Could you come and check on him?” The family said their child had a fever and took some medicine.  If it were a normal fever, the medicine would have worked. But since it didn’t, the child might have been frightened by something unclean.

Jiang Li said, “Alright, I’ll go take a look.” Jiang Li went with them. The family’s surname was also Li, and their child’s name was Li Erdan.  Jiang Li examined Li Erdan and found that the child had been frightened, losing a part of his soul.

For Jiang Li, this was easy to handle; she could call his soul back and give him some charmed water.  Li Erdan’s family anxiously asked, “Comrade Jiang, what’s wrong with Erdan?” Jiang Li comforted them, “It’s nothing serious. He’s lost a part of his soul. Call his name loudly around the brigade. Burn this amulet to ashes, mix it with water, and let him drink it. He’ll be fine soon.” Li Erdan’s family was shocked by Jiang Li’s actions.

 “Comrade Jiang, do you know what you’re saying? This is feudal superstition. If someone finds out, you’ll be in trouble.” Jiang Li said indifferently, “You’ve seen a ghost, and you think I’m practicing feudal superstition? Whether Erdan was frightened by a ghost, you know better than I do. If you trust me, do as I say. If not, and you want to report me for superstition, go ahead.

 Just don’t regret it if you can’t save your child.”  Remembering seeing Sun Wenwen’s ghost, Li Erdan’s family couldn’t question Jiang Li.

 They were surprised that Jiang Li used both traditional Chinese medicine and metaphysics. Li Erdan’s grandfather said, “Comrade Jiang, we won’t report you. We’ll do as you say.” Jiang Li nodded. She returned to the educated youth point.

If Li Erdan wasn’t better, they could come again. After Jiang Li left, Li Erdan’s grandfather instructed his family to call the soul back and gave his grandson the charmed water. Soon, Li Erdan’s condition improved, and his fever subsided. Li Erdan’s family marveled at Jiang Li’s skills. “Dad, Jiang Zhiqing is amazing! We should ask her for an amulet, in case Sun Zhiqing’s ghost comes again!” Li Erdan’s father asked his grandfather.

“You’re right.  Take ten eggs and five catties of flour to thank her.” Li Erdan’s father took the gifts and went to the educated youth point.  It was almost dark, and Li Erdan’s father felt uneasy, praying he wouldn’t encounter Sun Wenwen’s ghost.

  He trembled remembering the ghost’s appearance. Finally, he arrived at the educated youth point.  Seeing Jiang Li calmed his heart. Jiang Li asked, “Is Erdan still unwell?” The father quickly waved his hands, “No, Comrade Jiang, you’re amazing! He’s much better, his fever is gone. I brought you some gifts to thank you.

” Li Erdan’s father gave Jiang Li the gifts. Jiang Li saw ten eggs and five catties of flour. These weren’t precious to Jiang Li, but they were valuable to ordinary families.  She didn’t want to accept them, feeling guilty.
