Chapter 32.1
At eight o’clock in the evening, just as nightlife in City A was starting, heavy metal music pounded so loud in the bar that it hurt people’s eardrums. The air was filled with the smell of alcohol and cigarette smoke, and young men and women shed all their weariness.
In a private room of the bar, groups of three or five people were chatting while holding girls close. Shen Cheng glanced at Chen Hao beside him, full of doubts. How did Xu Yuan fall for this guy? It was simply unbelievable.
Thanks to Shen Cheng’s deliberate arrangements, within less than a week, he successfully got to know Chen Hao, and their relationship was not bad. If it weren’t for the clear information he found, he wouldn’t have believed that such a scumbag like Chen Hao was Xu Yuan’s ex.
With Chen Hao as a foil, Shen Cheng felt pretty good about himself. Even if he was somewhat flirtatious, after all, he didn’t have a girlfriend. It was his good friend who had a girlfriend, and now he actually came out to pick up girls.
Now, he didn’t know whether to pursue Xu Yuan or Chen Hao’s current girlfriend.
At least Xu Yuan had escaped the fire pit. From Shen Cheng’s point of view, although his cousin had been fond of playing in his youth, he had always been restrained. Moreover, in recent years, he has become much more low-key. No matter how you compare them, his cousin easily outshone Chen Hao.
Actually, apart from Mrs. Shen, no one in the Shen family had strong dissatisfaction with Meng Zhengrong.
As for Shen Ming, it goes without saying. No matter how Meng Zhengrong behaved, he was still his nephew. He couldn’t hate him, nor did he dare. Privately, he was actually quite afraid of this nephew.
Shen Xin didn’t need to be mentioned. If she could choose, she hoped that Meng Zhengrong was her real brother.
As for Shen Cheng, he had lived under the shadow of Meng Zhengrong since he was a child, and had already developed the habit of being afraid whenever he saw him. He was too afraid to have any dissatisfaction.
Of course, precisely because of this, they quietly transferred this dissatisfaction onto Xu Yuan in an unconscious situation.
“Hey, are you guys free this Saturday?” Shen Cheng put down his glass and glanced at the few people in the private room, casually asking.
One of Shen Cheng’s childhood friends lazily responded, “Since Young Master Shen asked, I’m naturally free. But what’s up?”
“It’s my old man’s birthday, anyone of you who are free can come.”
“Is it his sixtieth birthday?” a timid girl asked.
Shen Cheng shook his head, “Not yet. My dad isn’t sixty yet. It’s just a birthday celebration. So, do all of you have time?”
Shen Cheng’s fox-like friend, who had grown up with him, perked up, raising his hand, “I have only one question.”
“Ask.”
“Will your cousin, President Meng, go?”
As soon as this question came out, even Chen Hao, who had been drinking, lifted his head in confusion. President Meng? Meng Zhengrong?
Shen Cheng clicked his tongue, “Are you out of your mind? My cousin is my dad’s real nephew. Could he not go to his uncle’s birthday? Asking such nonsense, you’re really idle.”
“Oh, then I won’t go if he’s going.”
“Tsk…”
“What ‘tsk’? You don’t know how powerful his cousin’s aura is. Ordinary people like me should not get close to him.”
“By the way, Shen Cheng, I heard your cousin-in-law is famous for being beautiful. Is she going this time?”
Hearing someone speak so lightly about Xu Yuan, Chen Hao unconsciously clenched his fist.
Shen Cheng saw this small detail and instantly became more confident.
“Why wouldn’t she go? Enough of this nonsense. Let’s cut to the chase. Are you guys going or not? I need to reserve seats.”
“Not going.”
“Not going.”
“I’ll go, I’ll go. Otherwise, Young Master Shen will blow up.”
Shen Cheng looked at Chen Hao and casually asked, “How about you, Chen Hao, are you going?”
Suddenly being singled out, Chen Hao was stunned for a moment, hesitantly asking, “Can I… go?”
He thought Shen Cheng must know about his previous relationship with Xu Yuan. If he went and ran into Xu Yuan and Meng Zhengrong, wouldn’t it be awkward?
Although Chen Hao was a scumbag, he didn’t have the courage to flirt with Mrs. Meng. He just secretly thought about her sometimes. Where would he dare to appear in front of Xu Yuan, even though he really wanted to see her again, it was just a passing thought.
It was because of this statement from Chen Hao that everyone remembered his relationship with Xu Yuan, and the atmosphere suddenly became subtle.
Shen Cheng gave Chen Hao a mysterious look, then said, “What’s there that you can’t go for?”
He paused, as if he had just remembered Chen Hao’s relationship with Xu Yuan, slapped his forehead, as if he had suddenly realized, “You’re talking about that, what’s the big deal? Among us, who doesn’t have a few exes? This circle is so small, you can see each other anytime, anywhere. Besides, my cousin and his wife’s relationship is now very good. To tell you the truth, my cousin’s wife probably doesn’t even remember who you are. Don’t worry about these things.”
Hearing this, Chen Hao felt a sense of unwillingness rising in his heart.
How could Xu Yuan possibly forget him? It was absolutely impossible, a joke. Since it was a sincere liking, how could she forget him in just a few months, it was a joke.
A kind of pride inherent in men was at play, so Chen Hao couldn’t help but say, “Then I’ll go, she doesn’t remember me anyway.”
This was a statement made out of spite.
Shen Cheng picked up his glass and took a sip of wine, concealing the smile at the corner of his mouth.
Alright, the task Mom assigned him was also completed.
As for whether Xu Yuan and Chen Hao would rekindle their old love, that was none of his business.
In fact, Shen Cheng felt that even if these two didn’t rekindle their old love, just letting Meng Zhengrong see Chen Hao would bring up this bad account, who told men to be stingy in this respect.
In fact, after Chen Hao said it, he regretted it.
If Meng Zhengrong wasn’t there, he would be happy to run into Xu Yuan, but Meng Zhengrong was there, he didn’t want to go.
But a man should keep his word and not withdraw his words, so Chen Hao thought about it, even if he didn’t go to Xu Yuan to talk actively, he just let her see him, so that if Meng Zhengrong and Xu Yuan had any conflicts, he couldn’t blame him.
The other few looked at each other, feeling that Shen Cheng and Chen Hao had lost their minds, why else would they unnecessarily cause trouble?
If Meng Zhengrong knew, Shen Cheng could still be reasoned with after all, because he was a relative, but Chen Hao, wouldn’t he have to peel off a layer of skin?
