You Treat Me As If I Have A Sickness Chapter 35.3

Chapter 35.3

Meng Zhengrong was very happy, and even after taking a shower that night, he was still in high spirits.

It turned out that being assertive as a man was important. Look, his kiss had catalyzed their relationship development!

Xu Yuan remained calm. Since things had reached this point, there was no turning back, which was quite fine.

Even if she had sex with Meng Zhengrong today, she could accept it. Perhaps starting with physical intimacy was a better way to become familiar and close.

Meng Zhengrong casually applied some moisturizer and went to bed, lying next to Xu Yuan. He didn’t care whether she was looking at her phone or not; he just wrapped his arms around her.

At this moment, Meng Zhengrong felt that holding her was even more satisfying than having sex.

The reason was probably that he hadn’t been in a relationship for a long time.

“What are you looking at?” Meng Zhengrong asked casually.

Although Xu Yuan felt uneasy, she didn’t struggle, “Just browsing the news.”

They chatted casually, and time passed quickly. Before turning off the lights to sleep, Meng Zhengrong pinned Xu Yuan under him again and kissed her thoroughly, “Goodnight kiss.”

“Mm, goodnight.” After the lights were turned off, Xu Yuan quietly raised her hand to wipe away the saliva left on her lips.

That night, both of them slept very well.

In the morning, Meng Zhengrong looked at the chandelier with a somewhat fuzzy mind. He turned to look at Xu Yuan, who was still half-asleep, and then recalled what had happened yesterday. Once he confirmed it wasn’t his imagination, he couldn’t help but laugh.

At that moment, Xu Yuan also slowly woke up. They exchanged a glance, and before Xu Yuan’s awareness was fully returned, Meng Zhengrong leaned in and kissed the corner of her mouth.

“Good morning kiss.”

Meng Zhengrong turned out to be a kiss enthusiast.

Kissing without brushing teeth in the morning was really too much.

The housekeeper felt that Meng Zhengrong’s mood was polarizing. Last night he was all gloom and doom, making even the most ordinary person afraid to approach him. This morning, he looked as if he had won the lottery.

It seemed that only the wife could have such an effect on him.

Recalling before the marriage, Meng Zhengrong had told Father Meng and Mother Meng that this marriage was only for the benefit of both families…

One shouldn’t set flags too quickly; now, as things turned out, he was slapped in the face. The wife remained calm, while the husband’s grin reached his ears. It was clear who was in the weaker position.

In the following days of calm, Xu Yuan’s life, aside from accepting Meng Zhengrong’s occasional kisses, was quite pleasant.

Firstly, she had gotten the hang of the finance department. Although she was still far from being an expert, she was no longer a novice.

Secondly, the public welfare department was much fresher without Shen Ming around.

Finally, Shen Ming’s issue was resolved satisfactorily. Mother Meng returned and showed no dissatisfaction with her, which was truly fortunate.

However, life, when too peaceful, often introduces a few exceptional individuals to spice things up.

That afternoon, Meng Zhengrong came to the finance department to pick up Xu Yuan to leave work together. Just as they reached the elevator, the door opened, and an uninvited guest walked out.

Shen Xin had come to Meng Corporation secretly. Lately, she had been increasingly angry and couldn’t accept her parents’ words. She believed that her father’s retreat was due to Xu Yuan’s machinations behind the scenes.

Today, she dressed up beautifully, convinced she would outshine Xu Yuan. When she saw Meng Zhengrong with Xu Yuan, she deliberately ignored Xu Yuan and affectionately approached Meng Zhengrong, clinging to his arm and coquettishly saying, “Brother, are you surprised to see me?”

Several managers nearby, who were new to the Meng family, had heard that Meng Zhengrong had a younger sister but had never met Meng Pingting. Seeing Shen Xin and hearing her call Meng Zhengrong “brother” so intimately, they assumed she was the Meng family’s eldest daughter.

They didn’t dare greet her casually, only smiling at Shen Xin. One manager smiled warmly and said, “Hello, Miss Meng.”

This was a classic case of someone trying to curry favor wherever they could.

Xu Yuan glanced at this manager but didn’t say anything.

After all, it wasn’t her business.

Shen Xin was delighted by the title and didn’t correct them. She seemed to remember Xu Yuan beside her and said, “Sister-in-law, I came to pick up my brother from work today and join you for dinner. Is that okay?”

Xu Yuan gave a perfunctory smile.

She was willing to chat a bit with Meng Pingting to maintain a good relationship, but with Shen Xin, who was obviously hostile towards her, she wasn’t interested.

Meng Zhengrong subtly pushed Shen Xin’s hand away and said pointedly, “Your sister-in-law won’t mind, but does Uncle know you’re here at the company?”

He knew what Shen Xin was thinking. It had been tolerable before, but now it was increasingly unacceptable.

Although Pingting could be willful and spoiled, she at least wasn’t annoying.

His only real sister was Pingting; others didn’t qualify.

The managers who witnessed this exchanged glances and suppressed their laughter.

They had tried to curry favor with the wrong person. This girl wasn’t the Meng family’s eldest daughter but just Meng Zhengrong’s cousin, a distant relative.

Shen Xin’s smile stiffened, not expecting Meng Zhengrong to expose her intentions so bluntly.

She enjoyed being mistaken for Meng Zhengrong’s real sister.

Sometimes, she wondered why Meng Pingting deserved to be the Meng family’s eldest daughter. Why her?

Perhaps Shen Xin herself didn’t know whether she wanted a brother like Meng Zhengrong or his status.

She awkwardly replied, “Yes, he knows.”

In truth, he didn’t. She just wanted to use this opportunity to give Xu Yuan a hard time. Why should Xu Yuan have it all her way? Why didn’t she have to pay any price for pushing her father aside?

At that moment, the elevator arrived, and the managers hesitated to get in.

Meng Zhengrong, without a word, took Xu Yuan’s hand and entered the elevator. Shen Xin, though frustrated, hid her feelings and followed.

In the parking lot, Shen Xin tried to take the front passenger seat before Xu Yuan.

Meng Zhengrong stopped her, then opened the door for Xu Yuan, helping her into the car.

“Cousin, I want to talk to you!” Shen Xin stomped her foot.

Meng Zhengrong said indifferently, “You can talk from the back. I’m used to having your sister-in-law sit next to me.”

Xu Yuan rolled down the window and asked Meng Zhengrong, “Are we going or not? Mom and Dad are waiting.”

Meng Zhengrong ignored Shen Xin, walked to the driver’s side, and got in. Shen Xin had no choice but to get in the back.

Once inside, Shen Xin started chattering nonstop.

“Cousin, is this a new car? I haven’t seen it before.”

Although the Shen family was well-off thanks to the Meng family, and Shen Xin had her own car, she envied how Meng Zhengrong changed cars like clothes. When Meng Pingting got a new car, Shen Xin pestered her parents until they bought her the same one.

Meng Zhengrong responded with a grunt but didn’t elaborate.

Shen Xin, undeterred, continued, “Cousin, I got a new car too, but I’ve scratched it several times. If you have time, could you help me improve my driving skills?”

Xu Yuan pinched her nose bridge, irritated. Shen Xin’s voice wasn’t unpleasant, but she exaggerated her babyish tone and kept talking non-stop right by her ear, which was very annoying.

Noticing Xu Yuan’s expression, Meng Zhengrong asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

“Nothing,” Xu Yuan said, mouthing silently, “Too noisy.”

Shen Xin didn’t see this, but Meng Zhengrong understood. Without turning around, he told Shen Xin, “Your sister-in-law isn’t feeling well today. Be quiet. You can talk later.”

“What?” Shen Xin couldn’t believe her ears. She wanted to throw a tantrum but held back in front of Meng Zhengrong.

Sitting in the back, Shen Xin’s glare could have killed Xu Yuan if looks were lethal.

Meng Zhengrong’s insistence on quieting Shen Xin earned him a grateful look from Xu Yuan.

Shen Xin seems like a brat and clearly only favors Meng Zhengrong because of his status and capability. It would be better if she learned the truth about her father embezzling company funds, but it isn’t appropriate for her to know, so she’ll continue to act spoiled and entitled.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
